Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 757, The Awakening of the Holy Mountain Ruin

Translator: Silavin

Originally, the Griffin Legion had never imagined that one day they would truly need this outpost.

After all, they had been exploring the Far North for nearly four years. Although casualties occurred frequently, the overall process had been relatively smooth.

Some had even suggested to Tu Jing that they might as well abandon the first outpost altogether, since maintaining an outpost’s operation required considerable resources.

However, Tu Jing had never agreed to it, because the Blood Moon’s Owner had always been a burden on his mind. If the Blood Moon’s Owner was not eliminated, he always felt that the Griffin Legion members in the Far North needed an escape route.

And now, this escape route was finally being used.

Without the first outpost, the hundreds of Griffin Legion members in the camp would likely have been completely annihilated.

Now, with the first outpost thousands of kilometres away from the camp, the immediate retreat to the first outpost gave everyone time to escape and transmit intelligence back to Dragon Country.

Naturally, news of the Blood Moon’s Owner’s awakening instantly reached Dragon Capital.

Such a major event shocked the entire upper echelons of Dragon Capital.

Immediately, tens of thousands of soldiers were mobilised and dispatched to the Far North border.

A day later, Fallen Corpse Puppets emerging from the Far North began appearing continuously on the horizon, launching assaults towards Dragon Country’s territory.

Although the defensive fortifications built to resist Monster on the Far North border were not yet complete, with Monster attacking now, there was no time to worry about such details.

The soldiers immediately engaged these powerful Fallen Corpse Puppets in battle. Bodies littered the ground in a scene of unparalleled carnage.

Dragon Country’s defence line at the Far North continuously drew reinforcements, while also seeking help from Players throughout society.

The call for aid received a response.

Many Dragon Country Players, though not soldiers, immediately took Transport Array to the Far North border, joining the battle against the Monsters.

Initially, Dragon Country assembled one hundred and fifty thousand soldiers and over sixty thousand Players who had voluntarily come.

But this number continued to grow.

Simultaneously, supplies donated from across society poured in frantically, helping soldiers establish defensive works while ensuring adequate provisions for medicine and food.

After a full day of fierce combat, the battle lines at the Far North border had essentially stabilised.

Although Fallen Corpse Puppets seemed to pour endlessly from the depths of the Far North, Players and soldiers took turns fighting, and despite paying a certain price, they managed to hold the line without collapse.

Everyone knew that if this line collapsed the Fallen Corpse Puppets would flood into Dragon Country, and the country would suffer devastating damage.

With the Far North conflict so urgent, many within Dragon Country were actually more worried about whether other nations’ forces might infiltrate at this time to cause chaos within Dragon Country.

Especially Star Strip Country, whose national power was formidable and had long viewed Dragon Country as a thorn in their side.

With the Far North battle situation so critical, if they dispatched their Players to interfere, Dragon Country would suffer greatly.

However, this worry was clearly unnecessary.

Because almost simultaneously with the Blood Moon’s Owner’s awakening, the Holy Mountain Ruin discovered by Star Strip Country also showed unusual activity.

The winged corpse that had originally lain there had gradually changed over the past year.

Its six wings gradually grew flesh and sprouted golden feathers, like starlight, incredibly brilliant.

The Moore Family had always been responsible for the Holy Mountain Ruin exploration work.

Previously, the Moore Family had benefited from the Holy Mountain Ruin, and their Family’s strongest youth, Charles, had even gotten the powerful Hidden Profession of Holy Saint because of it.

Unfortunately, in the National Trial Secret Realm, Charles had been killed by Lu Fan.

With Charles’s death, the connection between the Moore Family and the Holy Mountain Ruin had weakened considerably. Ever since, although some had gained power from the Holy Mountain Ruin, no one had managed to do it like Charles, who could enter the Holy Mountain safely, emerge unharmed, and communicate with the Ancient God.

Rumour had it that the Moore Family members had actually all become Holy Mountain Slaves, secretly developing the Holy Mountain Ruin’s power.

Many in Star Strip Country appeared no different from ordinary people on the surface but had actually become Holy Mountain Slaves.

This theory had some circulation within Star Strip Country, but no one could prove it at the time.

But with Star Strip Country also showing unusual activity, this matter could almost be confirmed!

Because when such changes occurred to the winged corpse, the Moore Family did not inform anyone in Star Strip Country, which led to the corpse awakening like the Blood Moon’s Owner.

This happened yet no one knew, let alone prepared in advance.

The corpse stood up from the ground. Though the body was still a golden skeleton, the six wings on its back were now perfect, radiating golden light like a descending Sun.

The remains stretched out a hand, condensing a golden giant sword, then struck with one slash. A sword light directly levelled a Star Strip Country city, with hundreds of thousands, nearly a million people, instantly vaporised.

Simultaneously, throughout Star Strip Country, countless previously normal people suddenly developed golden symbols on their foreheads, then began to indiscriminately attack those around them.

These people with forehead symbols were undoubtedly Holy Mountain Slaves.

Their proliferation far exceeded Star Strip Country’s imagination. Nearly every city had tens of thousands transforming into Holy Mountain Slaves, causing utter chaos, slaying Players while integrating their power into the symbols on their foreheads. They seem to be sacrificing the deceased’s strength to some incredible existence.

In the Holy Mountain Ruin overseen by the Moore Family, the palace’s golden light grew ever more brilliant.

Compared to Dragon Country, Star Strip Country was in complete chaos.

Moreover, Dragon Country at least had a clear objective. They were simply resisting the continuous emergence of Fallen Corpse Puppets from the Far North.

But Star Strip Country suffered far worse, because they had not even established a fixed defensive line. After all, every city contained Holy Mountain Slaves who could hide among ordinary people. Even if experts wanted to clear them out, distinguishing who was a Holy Mountain Slave was impossible.

All of Star Strip Country was no different from playing a massive game of Mafia, where identifying friend from foe was the fundamental problem.

Moreover, within the Holy Mountain Ruin lurked a powerful corpse wielding a golden sword, ready to strike at any moment.

With it present, even though Star Strip Country experts knew the Moore Family members were all compromised, they dared not approach the Holy Mountain Ruin to trouble the Moore Family.

Undoubtedly, the Holy Mountain Ruin had become a steel nail driven deep into Star Strip Country’s flesh. One that simply could not be extracted right now.
