Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 760, Meeting Tu Jing

Translator: Silavin

Long before arriving here, Lu Fan had already contacted Tu Jing by telephone, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Tu Jing’s current condition.

Not only had Tu Jing sustained severe injuries, but his Level had also plummeted dramatically. From a Fifth Profession Player, he had fallen to merely Level 117.

Due to the World Mechanics, such consequences were indeed inevitable.

Although injuries sustained by Players could typically be restored through the Skills of Healing Type Professions, this was not absolute.

If injuries were severe and did not receive timely treatment, Players would suffer irreversible wounds. The direct manifestation was a significant drop in both Level and Attributes.

The Blood Moon’s Owner possessed extraordinary power. Tu Jing’s confrontation with it had left him gravely wounded.

Moreover, the Blood Moon’s Owner’s attacks appeared to carry peculiar Debuffs. According to reports, although Tu Jing managed to return to the first outpost via a Transport Array that night, he collapsed immediately upon arrival. His wounds harboured a sinister force that rendered Healing Skills and Cleansing Skills completely ineffective against his injuries.

One could say that if Tu Jing had not been strong enough, he might not have survived at all.

The Level drop was a foregone conclusion, with absolutely no remedy available.

Tu Jing had now relinquished his position as Commander-in-Chief, retreating to the second line, no longer required to participate in frontline combat.

However, Tu Jing was not comfortable simply departing.

Therefore, he remained at the front to recuperate. Firstly, should anything occur, he could keep watch. Secondly, although his Level had dropped, at Level 117, how weak could he possibly be?

With his presence, the frontline maintained an additional layer of security.

Thus, upon learning that Tu Jing was recuperating at the front, Lu Fan immediately travelled to the frontline’s medical facility to seek out Tu Jing, to visit this Senior who was both teacher and friend.

Throughout this journey, to avoid unnecessary complications, Lu Fan refrained from directly riding a Pet Dragon.

After all, the entire frontline was not particularly extensive. With his Bone Wings, he could swiftly traverse the area and locate Tu Jing’s whereabouts.

Soon, Lu Fan arrived at the medical facility.

This place was similarly guarded by numerous soldiers. After all, all wounded soldiers from the frontline were recuperating here. No carelessness could be tolerated.

Lu Fan also presented his identity as ‘Dragon Country’s Spark’, only then being respectfully permitted entry.

Through the main hall, Lu Fan learned that Tu Jing was on the rooftop. Thus, he saved considerable trouble and directly found Tu Jing.

At this moment, Tu Jing was indeed on the rooftop, sitting upright like a mounted warrior in an armchair, his bandage-covered torso bare, gazing toward the frontline direction. In his remaining hand, he held a massive bottle of alcohol, occasionally tilting his head back to take several gulps.

One could see that although he was not on the battlefield, and was no longer the commander of this frontline campaign, he remained deeply concerned about the Far North’s military situation.

From here, one could observe the frontline’s situation. Should any position fall, he could rush over at the first opportunity.

After Lu Fan approached, Tu Jing burst into hearty laughter. Only then did he stop intently watching the frontline, instead having someone bring over a chair for Lu Fan to sit down, so he could properly converse with Lu Fan.

Originally, Lu Fan had assumed that with Tu Jing’s Level drop and his relinquishing power to others, his mood should have been rather poor.

However, upon conversing, he discovered that Tu Jing remained the same Tu Jing. He remained remarkably open-minded.

Regarding the decline in his own strength, he harboured no sense of loss or gain. Instead, he felt that being able to save so many Griffin Legion comrades’ lives had been truly worthwhile.

Simultaneously, not needing to serve as the military’s Commander-in-Chief and being able to retreat to the second line brought considerable peace of mind.

He had commanded Dragon Country’s military for so long that he had long desired rest.

Having someone capable of carrying his banner forward filled him with joy rather than regret.

Seeing Tu Jing’s condition was reasonably good, Lu Fan felt considerably relieved.

At the same time, Lu Fan expressed that after some more time passed, he would certainly avenge Tu Jing by slaying the Blood Moon’s Owner.

“Compared to killing the Blood Moon’s Owner,” Tu Jing’s expression grew more serious as he looked toward the Far North direction, “I’m more concerned about when exactly that Blood Moon’s Owner will emerge from the Far North. At that time, it was forcibly dragged back by binding chains, seemingly because the Ancient God did not wish it to leave its side.”

“If the Blood Moon’s Owner gains freedom, the fate that would befall Dragon Country is unimaginable. Although the Blood Moon’s Owner didn’t emerge this time, and Dragon Country essentially escaped disaster but what about next time? I’m genuinely worried that what appears next will be a true Ancient God.”

“If the Ancient God’s Mount alone possesses such formidable power, should the Ancient God awaken, how terrifying would that be? I’m afraid that not only myself, but even you, or even the Three Elders would struggle to match it.”

“When that time comes, Dragon Country might very well be utterly decimated…”

Upon hearing these words, Lu Fan also felt a layer of gloom settle over his heart.

The threat of the Ancient Gods was indeed an unavoidable predicament.

When exactly the Fallen Corpse Ancient God would awaken remained like a ticking time bomb.

Although Lu Fan desperately sought to enhance his strength, exactly how powerful would he need to become to contend with an Ancient God?

[Forget it. When soldiers come, deploy the generals. When water comes, use earth to block it. Pondering over such matters serves no purpose. I already gave a viable plan, and I should stick to it.]

Lu Fan still felt that the future held too many unknowns, and he should not worry about everything and get overwhelmed.

His current objective was to await the Devouring Dragon King’s awakening, then together go and slay the Blood Moon’s Owner.

Lu Fan consoled Tu Jing with a few words, saying that regardless of circumstances, the Ancient God remained merely a Boss. No matter how difficult a Boss might be to defeat, there would always be a method to slay it.

With Dragon Country’s vast population of millions upon millions, could they truly fear being unable to kill a single Boss?

Just as the two were conversing, a streak of firelight streaked across the sky, arriving at Tu Jing’s location in the blink of an eye.

Looking over, they saw a young man clad entirely in golden armour, wielding a Dragon Spear, mounted upon a particularly distinctive-looking Mount.

That Mount resembled a Phoenix yet possessed three legs. One could tell at a glance it was no ordinary creature.

This young man dismounted from his Sky Mount, smoothly storing both his Sky Mount and weapon, then came before Tu Jing and offered a respectful salute, saying. “Uncle Tu, the Brothers from the southwestern war zone who came to provide support have arrived. I’ve arranged for them to guard the defensive gap near Outpost 3. Now, our frontline has become impregnable, capable of holding out a long-term resistance against those scoundrels!”

“Please examine my arrangements. Are there any inadequacies requiring your guidance?”

Upon hearing this, Tu Jing smiled and shook his head, saying. “There is no flaw in your deployment. No changes are necessary. From now on, you are the Commander-in-Chief. Such decisions don’t require my opinion anymore.”
