Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 398: Chapter 397 Setting the Trap

Hearing him boast with such affected airs, Kou Jing couldn’t help but cover her mouth and chuckle, feeling that a few words with him dispelled all her worries.

”It seems that afterward, I should suggest to Chairman Xiao that our People’s Hospital needs to strengthen its security measures. Otherwise, incidents like today’s could happen again.”

Kou Jing pondered thoughtfully.

Ye Haochuan nodded in agreement, believing it was true. The affiliated hospital was no longer what it used to be. Patients and their families from all walks of life sought treatment here, and if security measures were not improved, medical disputes might reoccur, ultimately causing the medical staff to suffer.

In his view, although medical staff can inevitably make mistakes in their work, patients’ families have the right to make rational complaints. However, it should not be based on insults, abuse, or even assault. Behaviors like causing trouble at the hospital were abhorrent to him.

After lunch, Ye Haochuan and Kou Jing returned to their offices to rest for a while before continuing with their work.

However, just after Ye Haochuan had seen a few patients, Kou Jing rushed over in a hurry, panting, ”It’s not good, not good...”

”What’s wrong?” Ye Haochuan asked in confusion.

Kou Jing immediately handed him a red-headed document, saying, ”Look, this is a notice just issued by the Health Bureau, stating that the fighting incident at noon was extremely vile in nature and has caused serious impact. Director Chen personally endorsed it, calling for you to be publicly criticized and stripped of your Medical Practice License.”

Ye Haochuan was startled. Director Chen moved so quickly, already starting to make things difficult for him. Being publicly criticized was one thing, but to be stripped of his Medical Practice License was too harsh; it clearly meant that he wouldn’t be allowed to practice medicine anymore.

Yet, for some reason, he felt that the incident at noon was too coincidental, and recalling what the muscular man had said about being paid to target him, he began to suspect that Director Chen might be involved in this matter.

After all, although he had made many enemies, most were experts from the Martial Arts Path Realm. Such people would confront him directly if they sought revenge, not resort to such roundabout schemes.

Thinking this, he immediately said to Kou Jing, ”Jingjing, do you have Director Chen’s number? I want to have a good talk with him about why he would set a trap for me.”

Kou Jing was stunned, but soon she caught on, surprised, ”You suspect that Director Chen is related to what happened at noon?”

Ye Haochuan nodded and snorted, ”Didn’t you see our falling-out with Director Chen? He made threats to deal with me, and if he wants to do that, he naturally needs an excuse.”

After his explanation, Kou Jing found it plausible too. She took out her phone, looked up Chen Zhonghe’s number, and gave it to him.

Ye Haochuan immediately dialed Chen Zhonghe’s number and got straight to the point, ”Director Chen, the incident at noon was a trap you set for me, wasn’t it?”

A hearty laugh soon came from the receiver, ”Doctor Ye, you can eat anything at random, but you can’t just say anything.”

From the other party’s triumphant laughter, Ye Haochuan detected the scent of a conspiracy, growing more certain that the noon incident was related to this sly fox. However, the problem now was that he had no evidence, leaving him helpless against Director Chen.

”Doctor Ye, is there anything else? If not, I’m going to hang up!” Chen Zhonghe said.

This old fox, he can really act!

Ye Haochuan spoke gravely, ”Director Chen, I have already seen the notice from the Health Bureau. However, I must clarify that I can’t be blamed for what happened at noon. They slandered me first, and they hit me first. I struck back in self-defense, and not severely at that. Many people witnessed it at the scene. The Health Bureau not conducting a thorough investigation before dealing with me, isn’t that a bit childish?”

”Doctor Ye ah, you’re exaggerating a bit there, aren’t you? If our Health Bureau had no evidence, how could we arbitrarily draw a conclusion and deal with you? Besides, stepping back for a moment, as a medical practitioner, you also resorted to violence and even injured several of them. Some are still lying in the People’s Hospital!”

Chen Zhonghe said leisurely.

”Fine, I’ll admit my mistake, but even so, a slight error like mine doesn’t warrant the revocation of my Medical Practice License, does it?” Ye Haochuan said, agitated.

”Ah, Doctor Ye.” Chen Zhonghe started to smile, though his smile did not reach his eyes. ”To be honest, your mistake isn’t really that grave, and revoking your Medical Practice License is indeed a bit much. However, somehow Secretary Tao heard about it and specifically instructed me to strip you of your license. There’s really nothing I can do!”

Damn it, somehow it reached Tao’s ears? It was clearly this old fox’s doing!

With this thought, Ye Haochuan gritted his teeth in anger.

Suddenly, Chen Zhonghe’s tone changed, and he said, ”However, after my earnest persuasion, Secretary Tao’s stance has softened a bit. As long as you agree to that matter, everything can be easily resolved. As for the Medical Practice License, it can still be preserved for you.”

”So, what you’re saying is, I should really thank Director Chen for your kindness, huh?” Ye Haochuan sneered coldly.

”That’s not necessary. You see, I really do admire a talent like you,” Chen Zhonghe chuckled. ”Young man, who doesn’t make mistakes? As long as they’re not errors of principle, I think it can still be salvaged!”

Wow, talk about sweet talk sounding better than the singing!

Ye Haochuan scoffed inwardly and said, ”Then I should thank Director Chen for your appreciation.”

”Right, Doctor Ye, about that... that matter, what are your thoughts?” Chen Zhonghe suddenly asked.

”About that, I’ve thought it over, and Director Chen, you do make sense,” Ye Haochuan said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Chen Zhonghe’s face lit up with eagerness. ”Does that mean you agree?”

”Ah, how could someone like me, a mere small fry, ever dare to contend with someone like Secretary Tao who can call the wind and summon the rain?” Ye Haochuan feigned helplessness, ”But, I must offer a word of caution. Even if I agree to administer treatment, it may not go smoothly!”

Director Chen’s brows furrowed, sensing that Ye Haochuan was gearing up to set conditions. He hurriedly said, ”Just tell me what you need. If it’s a matter of the consultation fee, we can talk. Commander Ma has said that as long as you cure his daughter of polio, he will give you a hundred thousand for the consultation. How’s that? Quite generous, right?”

A hundred thousand for the consultation?

Ye Haochuan was speechless. That little money, was it for a beggar? Damn, this Ma Tao really knew how to scheme. Since you’re screwing me over, I might as well return the favor!

”The consultation fee can be negotiated, no problem, even without it, it’s fine,” Ye Haochuan pretended to oblige, ”However, the consultation fee is a small matter, but the cost of the related medicinal materials, that could be quite substantial!”

”The cost of medicinal materials? How much?” Chen Zhonghe asked.

Somehow, deep inside, he felt a troubling premonition.

Sure enough, when Ye Haochuan stated the cost of the medicinal materials, Chen Zhonghe was stunned, ”What? Ten million? What kind of medicine is that expensive?”
