Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 1144: Chapter 25: Two Aging Assassins [First Update]

”Stop kicking, stop kicking, or your uncle will be kicked to pieces.”

Jia Yan chuckled with amusement—he enjoyed seeing his little niece happy.

”No way, Uncle Jiu can dismantle a battleship with his bare hands, how could I possibly damage you? But Uncle Jiu, where are we going?” Little Qiqi looked around at the cosmic scenery with joy, unaware that even as a high Earth Level being, space a thousand kilometers from Earth was still a very dangerous place. At the moment, Jia Yan’s Brainwave Power was protecting her, ensuring that even if there was an issue with her spacesuit, he could instantly return Little Qiqi to the battleship.

Of course, what are the odds of an accident happening? Right now, Little JiaQi was just happily following Jia Yan, simply excited and laughing away.

”Uncle is taking you to his spaceship, we’re going to play somewhere very, very far away from Earth,” Jia Yan replied.

”Yay, to a place far away from Earth? I’ve been to the Moon before. Is where you’re taking me farther than the Moon?” Jia Qi was no ordinary little girl—whereas it wasn’t easy for other children to visit the Moon, she could go anytime by hopping on a battleship from the Earth Fleet on a mission.

But Jia Yan wouldn’t just take her to the Moon; that would be underselling his abilities.

”Of course, Uncle isn’t taking you to the Moon. That’s too close for us. Uncle is taking you to the edge of the Solar System. How about that? It’s really fun there,” Jia Yan mysteriously replied.

But he sighed at the thought of the upcoming trip, possibly exposing Little Qiqi to a great battle with aliens. If he could have his way, he wouldn’t want it to happen, but everything would depend on Little Qiqi’s own wishes. If she didn’t want to witness it, Jia Yan would ensure she didn’t see anything when he fought.

”Wow? The edge of the Solar System? My dad’s there too, and Bearded Uncle!” The little girl’s eyes lit up dramatically.

”Huh? Your dad is there too? No wonder I haven’t seen those two assassin scumbags. They went all the way out there, especially that glasses-wearing guy, daring to leave my sister and adorable niece to go somewhere so dangerous?!”

Only upon hearing Jia Qi mention them did Jia Yan realize why he hadn’t seen the two men around. He felt genuinely angry now—Earth people’s technology hadn’t achieved perfect interstellar travel yet, and those two guys, especially the Glasses Murderer who married his sister, dared to abandon their family and head off into the unknown for what?

”Dad is not a scumbag, and you can’t call my dad a scumbag, Uncle Jiu! He’s taking risks for the sake of Earth people, that’s what Mom said!” Little JiaQi actually stood up to Jia Yan for her father.

”Your dad isn’t a scumbag, then who is? Alright, Uncle will stop talking about it,” Jia Yan quickly changed the subject to avoid upsetting his niece.

While the uncle and niece were chatting, one of the crews on the battleship had already contacted Marshal, the supreme commander of the Earth surface fleet—a mysterious alien monster that was the only being to whom Jia Yan had ever revealed his identity.

”What? Just let him do whatever he wants, don’t interfere? Marshal, that’s our newest battleship he’s dismantling. Last time you blew up at the Science Academy guys for damaging one, and now it’s suddenly no big deal? That’s our future warship, how can you let it go so easily!” The husky Captain was shocked by the words from the other end of the line and couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

”Uh... You’re saying that we’ll win the war if this man is around? Uh uh uh... I... I...”

The Captain put down his communicator, look dazed and stared, slack-jawed, at the screen showing the departing figures carrying a chunk of a massive damaged battleship.

”Who is this guy? Even Marshal Cari seems to fear him greatly!”

Jia Yan was well aware of the discussions among the fleet members behind him; after all, his Brainwave Power covered a full thousand kilometers, and he still hadn’t flown that distance with Little JiaQi.

”We’re here!”

At a certain moment, Jia Yan softly announced, while the monitoring system of the battleship could no longer see their figures. In fact, the battleship had long returned to base under a strict gag order and for unknown reasons.

Having flown with Jia Yan for so long, Little JiaQi still saw Earth as a large presence below—it was her first time flying like this in the universe. Her big eyes continuously looked downward, and sometimes she would let out giggles.

”Where are we, Uncle Jiu? There’s nothing here,” Jia Qi said curiously, looking around, perplexed.

”Hehe, just watch,” Jia Yan gently activated his Brainwave Power.

In front of their eyes, a small space cabin gradually became visible.

”Wow, such a tiny spaceship,” Jia Qi said when she saw the small craft, now curiously examining it. The spaceship was not just small overall; the cockpit was even smaller.

”Okay, Qiqi, wait here for a bit. Uncle will modify this spaceship.”

Jia Yan carefully placed Jia Qi on the spot and then flew out, carrying with him a section from the battleship that existed for a moment just like this.

With rough movements, he twisted the part back and forth; Jia Yan wasn’t simply fumbling around, but had selected a specific model well in advance. The battleship section he now held in his hands comprised a complete living space.

A space tens of meters in length and width was certainly sufficient for living.

Jia Yan pulled a steel cable directly to his own space cabin, which was only a dozen meters in length. It was this vessel that he would rely on for movement in the future.

Before long, the makeshift space docking was complete.

”So that’s how it is,” Jia Qi muttered, seemingly recalling some childhood memories. At that moment, she began to control her own body and fly in space using her brainwave power.

Both entered the living space tied to the rear of the space cabin, where Jia Yan activated the independent life support system with brainwave power, bringing functions like oxygen generation online.

”This is so much fun, Uncle’s amazing,” Jia Qi happily shed her spacesuit and ran around inside the living space.

”Alright, we need to get moving quickly, otherwise we may miss the matters at the border. If your dad really dies there, I don’t care much, but your mom will certainly cry,” Jia Yan shook his head with a smile.

In no time at all, this simple ’spaceship’ cobbled together was being slowly pulled into acceleration by the space cabin in front...

Jia Qi, playing in the living quarters, didn’t understand how terrifying a technology it was that Jia Yan didn’t have to directly control it—the space cabin was autonomously navigating the route.

And at a certain moment, along with a violent distortion, the cabin, with the living quarters in tow, entered subspace.

Without entering subspace, it would have been impossible to reach the edge of the Solar System within days.

The average Earth spaceship, to reach the Kuiper Belt, would need at least several months or even years. And this was already the result of Earth’s rapidly advanced spaceship technology, yet they could only approach the edge closest to Earth. Reaching the true edge of the Solar System was far more challenging.

However, for Jia Yan, such distance was hardly an issue; he could easily cover it in a short period of flying.

The Kuiper Belt.

Here, squadrons of ragtag battleships lay in ambush.

Because the Earth Fleet’s previous encounter with an Auster half-battle class carrier used an ambush tactic to good effect, Earthlings once again chose this strategy.

Due to the recent surprise attacks by the enemy’s vanguard, the Earth people were prepared, and now they lay in even stealthier and more formidable hiding.

Amongst these battleships, a fleet of about twenty vessels was commanded by two familiar figures as fleet commanders.

”Xiao Yao, I never thought that at fifty years old, I would still be riding on your coattails, becoming the vice-commander of a fleet.”

Within the small squadron, a burly man with a face full of grizzled beard laughed heartily as he expressed his happiness to a middle-aged man wearing glasses.

”Come on, can you stop calling me Xiao Yao? We’re both getting on in years. But don’t call yourself old. Hasn’t Earth just discovered that with the current living conditions, it isn’t hard for humans to live to two hundred years old? Moreover, you’re about to reach Earth Level. Once you’re there, you can live two hundred and fifty years—fifty is just young, my friend.”

The bespectacled middle-aged man frowned slightly as he rebutted the bearded man next to him.

These two were none other than those who had offered some help to Jia Yan shortly after he became Mosquito. Now, with years gone by, they both bore the traces of time.

Especially the bearded man—it’s unclear if he had too much luck with women over the years, but he seemed somewhat aged.

”Ha-ha, you’re right. But I have a feeling we might not survive this time. I can accept it, but why did you come? After all, you’re a member of Jia’s family. If I’m not wrong, Jia’s family would have already made arrangements. If Earth cannot hold on, they can retreat to a secluded place to survive.”

Suddenly, Bearded looked up seriously and said, ”Xiao Yao, I know you don’t want me to take risks on my own, but think about Little Lin and her three daughters. If you die, leaving a woman with two girls, it won’t be easy for them.”

”Forget about it, I know their escape route, and at most, it might last them a year or two. If they can escape now, what about after one or two years? Instead of dying in such a pathetic way, I’d rather die here with my comrades. Besides, look, the Blocking Fleet has placed our squadron at the very rear. They’re looking out for us. Don’t worry, have you forgotten how many life-and-death situations we’ve seen? It’s not that easy for us to die!”

The bespectacled middle-aged man shook his head.
