Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 328: Chapter 13 What is Life? [Request for Official Subscription]_1

Everyone knew that if they could secure the protection of a giant mosquito monster, the safety of this village could potentially surpass that of Shanghai City!

The combat power of Shanghai City’s army was dwindling, and, being a large city, it faced the threat of those red light beams!

As for this shabby village, why would a metal monster bother to attack it with red light rays?!

If you add in the protection of a giant mosquito monster, even if this giant mosquito is not as formidable as the surviving villagers claim, but if it’s as strong as the previous six-meter giant mosquito, their chances of survival could significantly increase!

People were moved, one by one seeking out the two assassins, indicating their intention to join the village!

But seeing is believing!

When Jia Yan’s huge body, carried by the cold night air, silently descended upon the dilapidated village, the rest of all the people finally gave in!

The villagers were not lying! Such a huge giant mosquito really appeared, and it actually chose to land and stay here!

People began to swarm together, heading towards the two assassins’ designated recruiters to enlist!

There were too many deaths in this village, and various farm lands were now empty. They were in dire need of manpower now, so they would hardly reject the surviving villagers from other areas who sought to join them!

At this thriving moment, the massive figure of the giant mosquito that drew everyone’s attention, after landing, strolled towards a less damaged house...

Amidst all this, Jia Yan felt that everything was going too smoothly, just like his ideal scenario. Some circumstances that he thought impossible to be perfect, turned out to be so simple.

Deep down, he felt something was off, but he could not put his finger on it!

Perhaps he had forgotten something, or there was some oversight.

But no matter what, he had come this far. Jia Yan would not give up. His family and the rare friends he had made after reincarnation were all here in this small village. Jia Yan had no choice but to put his head down and plunge forward!

Since reincarnating, Jia Yan found that his values could be completely different from when he was a human. When he was human, he thought more about his future work, life, and studies, but after reincarnation, he realised that what he truly cared about were his family and friends.

Of course, this referred to Jia Yan’s value in interpersonal relationships. In fact, he found that he now prioritised becoming stronger and for his actions to be more in line with his heart’s intentions!

Jia Yan wasn’t sure if his future self would have distorted values, but he saw himself as someone with a relatively stable mood. If he were to become emotionally unstable, it would probably be caused by some unforeseen event...

In any case, he wouldn’t let those he cared about die, but he wouldn’t resort to any extreme measures either.

”Mr. Giant Mosquito, you’re back!”

As Jia Yan approached the house, someone immediately stepped out to greet him.

It was a man Jia Yan had seen in the crowd. The sight of Jia Yan’s monstrous form startled him, but he mustered up the courage to come forward!

”How are they?”

Jia Yan used his brainwave power to control his body and speak!

His voice was clear yet powerful. However, in the near midnight darkness, it was somewhat eerie, enough to send chills down your spine!

”They’re all well. But they’re a bit weak after the battle and had gone to sleep. I’m the night watchman. Should I wake them up?” The man’s face turned pale in anxiety. Indeed, in this area filled with corpses, facing a terrifying giant mosquito monster would be a huge shock to anyone’s heart!

Jia Yan shook his head. He had gone for so long without sleep that he had forgotten humans needed to sleep.

”No need. You can go to sleep too. I am here!” Jia Yan felt that his stuttering was slightly better when he spoke this time. Seems like this method of making sounds using brainwave power required more practice to improve.

After he finished speaking, he found a ruined area near the building and, with a small amount of force applied on his slender long feet, he moved all the rubble to one side. Then, he lowered his body onto the cleared ground!

Watching the Big Mosquito’s actions, the man’s fear of the giant mosquito monster seemed to diminish slightly.

But he clearly wouldn’t take Jia Yan’s suggestion to rest. So, he went back into the house. It was too cold outside, so he went back to warm up by the fire, carrying on with his night watch duties.

This village was filled with the smell of blood. The night was dreadfully cold. Only a few people were assigned to sort through the rubble.

Near Jia Yan, he could see some humans moving dead bodies. These corpses were everywhere in the ruins. Maybe this was the first time Jia Yan had been so close to many human corpses, stirring up an unknown emotion in his heart.

There were faint cries echoing in the surrounding area, some of them were from children.

Mixed with these were the moans of pain from the injured villagers. Each one of them suffered injuries during the battle. Some even lost their families, leaving no one to take care of them. They were in a house arranged by two assassins, waiting for their fate, whether it was death or a lucky survival...

Listening to these tiny voices, along with the biting cold wind around him, Jia Yan couldn’t help but feel unease in his mood.

In short, this night was torturous for everyone.

But the people of this village were still fortunate. Many villages on the outskirts of Shanghai City, just like this one, were completely destroyed under the attack of the Metal Monster, not leaving a single survivor. This was perhaps the greatest sorrow of ordinary people in these times!

Just like that, sunrise came soon enough.

Jia Yan, lying on the ground, saw the human activity around him increase.

This village had its own rules.

Some people were appointed temporary field managers, others were in charge of managing waste. Every person had their role.

The new members were quickly dispatched within the village to organize the aftermath of the battle.

The busy scene started to gradually unfold!

However, despite their bustling activity, no one dared come close to Jia Yan, the Big Mosquito’s area.

This 20-meter radius became a no-go zone - the humans passing by would sometimes bow to the Big Mosquito, lying on the ground with intimidating glance in his compound eyes.

Maybe they appreciated the giant mosquito, but under such circumstances, they didn’t dare to make contact. Even though Jia Yan showed that he could communicate and could speak human language, his appearance was simply too odd. No one dared to approach such an incomprehensible creature!

Jia Yan didn’t bother trying to communicate with them anyway.

The people continued their work, doing in large numbers what Jia Yan could have probably achieved in a few seconds, such as moving the rubble and filling up the damaged ground. Even carrying corpses.

He just watched the busy humans. Now, he was like a spectator, watching these self-proclaimed ’spirits of all things’ engage in their work.

He thought to himself: Humans aren’t so unique. They just have a bit more intellect than other beings, but what they’re doing only complies with their biological instincts!

Just like ants. The difference was that this species had a much more complex social structure than regular ants. Still, their actions were like those of individual ants in an anthill, going through life aimlessly.

What is life?

If one were to compare a human life to that of an ant, that would indeed be very sad. But that’s the reality. (To be continued.
