[Please Subscribe]_1 For this girl, her innocence isn’t entirely gone yet.

Just a few days ago, she even signed up for the village’s ‘Battle Squad’, but failed to pass the selection process controlled by Father Jia, and was harshly reprimanded at home!

But no one knows what the real thoughts of this girl, who still seems a bit naïve on the surface, truly are!

Maybe if others knew her true feelings, it would take everyone by surprise!

The five of them sat down at home, the charcoal in the stove was burning brightly, raising the temperature of the small room to a very pleasant level.

Mother Jia served the prepared New Year’s Eve dinner.

For people in the midst of war, being able to spend the New Year’s Eve is a rare occurrence.

Thanks to the two assassins, the Jia’s family could enjoy such a relaxed New Year’s Eve.

Therefore, the gratitude they felt for these two people, even if they couldn’t repay it at them moment, was firmly etched in their hearts.

Mother Jia’s cooking skills were good, and the array of dishes on the table was quite tasty.

However, while the five were dining, shrill whistles resounded piercingly!

All five were taken aback, they all shared a glance.

If such a whistle was heard at this time in the small village, it would not be a simple matter.

Because this was the warning signal from their patrolling team when danger was detected outside the village!

“Two long, one short!

This is the warning signal for a metallic monster attack!”

As the instructor who trained all of them, the bearded man understood the meaning of this whistle!

“Let’s go, let’s go take a look, Uncle Jia, you all get ready.

If it really is a metallic monster attack, we’ll come back to take you all to safety!” said the young man with glasses as he picked up his coat, following the bearded man’s steps, and rushed outside!

The village was in chaos.

With recent expansion, the place now housed thousands of people.

However, the inhabitants were of mixed quality.

Some people were already packing their clothes, running wildly outside.

Nearly no one felt a sense of attachment to the small village.

The appearance of the metal monster was just an opportunity.

When the metal monsters appeared in the past, there were people who fled.

Those kind of people would never be accepted back into the village.

For the two assassins who highly valued loyalty, people who were not able to weather the storm together were the ones they disliked the most!

The village was built on a hill, slightly elevated from the flat ground, and there were three paths leading down from it.

But at this time, on those paths, shadows of metallic monsters could be seen almost everywhere!

For a moment, whistles were sounding one after another, even the dogs acting as guardians on the hill were barking in fear!

“Let’s go!

Let’s go take a look.” The two assassins led their temporary subordinates.

Compared to the fleeing of newcomers, their men were among those who had been in the village from the very beginning, having faced quite a few battles and holding a very strong sense of belonging to the village.

So they didn’t panic, following the two assassins, they rushed towards one of the road entrances.

When they arrived, the road entrance was already filled with panicked cries and screams!

Several humans who were trying to escape in this direction were being chased by a few metallic monsters.

Red beams of light shot out and killed them all!

“Fire!”

Seeing this scene, the young man with glasses didn’t hesitate to give the order!

The people by his side all had calm expressions.

They unhesitatingly pulled their triggers.

These men all had some weapons, some even had equipment that was not inferior to a regular army!

These people totaled more than fifty.

They were currently the strongest armed force in the village.

For a village, such armed power was sufficient.

But that was only adequate for normal defence.

If the opponent were metallic monsters, even more armed power would not be enough!

The situation at present was causing such despair!

Just as the young man with glasses gave the order to fire!

Behind the several metallic monsters, like locusts, more metallic monsters emerged from the back of the bushes!

There was a large number of them.

Under the light, they reflected a dazzling brightness, making it hard to look at them directly!

Suddenly, at least fifty Metal Monsters appeared before them, a number more than enough to wipe out their village with ease.

Moreover, there were Metal Monsters advancing from two other paths.

This organized attack on their hilltop village was clearly premeditated!

Today also happened to be New Year’s Eve.

Their attempt to exterminate their village on this day seemed to be a grim omen!

“Shoot while retreating!

Stay orderly!” Realizing the severity of the situation, the two Assassins understood that this was not going to be an easy day.

This New Year’s Eve, troubles were inevitable for the village.

Bang Bang Bang!!

The crashing sound of guns roared aloud.

The bullets streaked across the night sky like a scatter of twinkling stars, spurting sparks as they struck the bodies of the incoming Metal Monsters.

There was a constant chiming of metal clanging.

The bodies of these Metal Monsters were not easily penetrable.

However, due to their light composition, the force of the bullets knocked them backward, giving the fleeing villagers a fleeting chance of escaping.

But the number of Metal Monsters was very close to the number of human gunmen in the village, it was impossible for the bullets to hit all the Monsters at once!

More than twenty of them were not even attacked.

Moving their long legs rhythmically, they started to charge towards the humans!

The team trained and organized by the two Assassins was known as ‘Battle Squad’ in the village.

It was a combat force comprised of young men under thirty.

Their running speed was incredibly fast.

But since there were regular villagers around who needed protection, they had to hold the rear!

Two members of the Battle Squad were instantly knocked down by the red lasers fired by the Metal Monsters in their very first interaction.

“Don’t panic!

Crawl down to the ground!

Their aim isn’t that accurate.

Follow the tactic and crawl down!”

Bearded led the way, sprawling on the ground.

The example he set had a strong impact at this moment!

The village had never witnessed such intense combat before, let alone these Battle Squad members, who were mere ordinary men just a few months ago!

Exhaustively trained by Bearded, they instinctively followed orders and crawled to the ground.

Those few who were not levelheaded were physically forced down by their comrades next to them.

“Fire!

Shoot while crawling backwards!”

Everyone followed the order, aiming at the approaching Metal Monsters and pulling their triggers desperately.

Pop Pop Pop Pop!!——

Bang Bang Bang Bang!!——

The sound of gunfire echoed in the night sky continuously, transitioning from inconsistent shots to a patterned rhythm, easing the frantic atmosphere slightly.

This gunfire inspired the people running for their lives.

They felt as if they had found a backbone of support.

Every day they had been hearing the Battle Squad’s training noises.

Many people doubted the combat power of this casually organized squad.

Even though they had managed to barely win against a few Metal Monsters in the past, everyone deemed it a matter of luck!

Now, while fighting against such a huge army of Metal Monsters, the fact that they persisted for so long without collapsing, forced everyone to respect the squad even more!

However, everyone knew that the fifty something Battle Squad members could never truly win against the Metal Monsters.

One must be aware that a single path already had more than fifty Metal Monsters.

There were a total of over a hundred and forty to a hundred and fifty Monsters on all three paths.

Even if we ignore the fact that each Monster had far more combat power than a human, it was evident that with their numbers way lesser than the Monsters, they stood no chance of winning this battle!

“Ah!”

As expected, even after Bearded and others had adopted the best possible measures, a young member of their team became the first casualty.

Right after pulling the trigger, a Metal Monster rushed towards him and pierced his body with a red laser beam!

All the Battle Squad members witnessed this scene.

While it was impossible for them to ignore it, they did not panic largely due to their previous experiences with combat casualties!

“Hold your ground!

First let’s take down the few in the front!”

Bearded shouted loudly!
