Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3946  Skyveil City

Skyveil City, the capital of the Eternal Twilight Imperial Family, was present under eternal twilight, where the horizon blurred between day and night, leaving a faint silver hue hanging in the air. The contrast was marvelous, especially when its structures rose tall like ancient monuments, each one carved from high-grade white and black ores.

Faint mists curled around the base of each structure, weaving through the narrow alleys like living phantoms. A crescent-shaped gate stood at the cityʼs entrance, both halves carved from special white jade and black stone, blending seamlessly as though one could not exist with the other.

Lanterns hung suspended in the air, lighting the streets. They remained floating in the twilight air, glowing softly with a bright light.

At the heart of the city was a towering pagoda, its foundation created from polished obsidian that reflected the twilight like a dark mirror. Above it, its tiers alternated between different shades of dark all the way to white. The other side of the pagoda alternated from white to black all the way to the top. The pagoda reached towards the sky in perfect symmetry.

Surrounding the pagoda was wide plazas stretched, tiled with alternating black and white stone. Those who entered the pagoda and other structures used white tiles, and those who exited used black tiles. It seemed as though it was an unspoken rule to follow since no one dared to walk out using a white tile or walk in by crossing a black tile.

At this moment, four people walked on the white tile.

They were none other than Imperial Advisor Hansen and the three princes, Nova Daynight, Mote Daynight, and Ray Daynight. They had finally made it back to the capital and reached the core region, even heading towards the pagoda that looked like a superstructure. Inside, it was even bigger, as vast as a mini-realm.

They had grown up here and never felt any danger. Who would dare invade the capital? It was unharmed for over two million years. There was absolutely no need to fear any kind of threat.

But right now, they couldnʼt be any more insecure.

Even after coming here, they felt no safety under the curse the Divine Emperor of Death cast on them. They must fulfill their words to him. Otherwise, they wouldnʼt be walking out alive.

”Are you all retards…? Has a bandit ever fulfilled their end of the deal? This is an evil entity weʼre talking about. Heʼd kill us after we bring him what he wants in the blink of an eye!”

The thirteenth prince, Mote Daynight, turned to look at the others and glared at them as he sent a soul transmission.

”Shh!”

Thirteenth Prince Nova Daynight glared at Mote Daynight, ”Just when I thought you finally talked after receiving a kick to the balls, youʼre still going on about this? Fine, if you want to expose, go ahead and bring us all down with you in exchange for saving a fucking resource.”

”…”

Mote Daynightʼs expression sank. He clenched his fist, about to argue. However, he forcefully stopped himself.

How was he wrong here? They were taught never to bend their knees to evil, but this was exactly what they were doing! He had lazed around, enjoying his life as a prince until the ascension to the throne, but he never felt so ashamed of himself. It irked his heart more than his balls hurt.

The fourteenth prince, Ray Daynight, had a deadpan expression. It appeared as though he was already dead.

”We all swore not to reveal the Eternal Daynight Scripture to anyone other than our family members and only those who deserve it. If we go against it, the elders will know!”

Calming down, Mote Daynight argued logically.

”That woman is more than worthy.” Imperial Advisor Hansen sent a soul transmission, ”If she truly is the possessor of the Eternal Daynight Physique, then the Eternal Daynight Scripture wouldnʼt be wasted on her.”

”But sheʼs still not family! Have you all forgotten when third brother gave his lover the Eternal Daynight Scripture, and she was executed publicly eighty years ago? The family possesses immense pride in the cultivation manual but is fanatic about its usage. Only the Imperial family can use it. We even have a clause stating that we have to hunt anyone other than the imperial family who is using it.” Mote Daynight argued.

Imperial Advisor Hansen simply shook his head, ”That woman already possesses the Eternal Daynight Scripture till the Immortal Emperor Grade as she stole from us. It doesnʼt matter if she gains the final chapter. As for the Infernal Haze Retribution Cloudʼs Core, is it more valuable than the four of our lives?”

”…” Mote Daynight was unable to say anything.

In the end, he followed in their footsteps, rising to the top of the pagoda against all odd gazes and entering the Treasury. There, they pooled their contribution points haunted by a disadvantageous exchange rate and exchanged their points for the Empyrean Grade chapter.

They bought it and were suddenly excited as it was the first time they had looked at it except for Imperial Advisor Hansen. Although he was not an imperial family member, the Imperial Advisor had special privileges, especially as he had married into the imperial family. Therefore, he could also learn the Eternal Twilight Scripture, although he learned it from the Autarch chapter.

However, their excitement died as soon as they saw the other treasure in the Treasury. Grand Elder Rafalgar had faithfully deposited the treasure.

”What should we do? We barely have seventeen percent of the contribution points required to obtain the Infernal Haze Retribution Cloudʼs Core. Without it, we can say goodbye to our lives.” Nova Daynight clenched his teeth upon exiting the pagoda.

The others, too, possessed solemn expressions.

They needed to find a way to obtain it, but they were hard-pressed for options, trying to take on the most dangerous missions that awarded the most points.

On the other side of the map, Davis and the group went towards the Opulent Shell Companyʼs auction house.

He sensed it could not be safe in the realm, so he didnʼt want to waste time and save the Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit as soon as possible.
