Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2679 The Youthful Inheritors

Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunder stared at Davis with frowns over their eyebrows. They definitely didnʼt think they were being rude or forceful here, so for Davis Alstreim to reject their terms, it could be said that they were disappointed, making them wonder if they did something wrong.

Looks like they would have to explain how important the Candidacy is to them that it can even be said that it is the reason for their existence if exaggerated. After all, they knew their destinies were more or less connected with that competition of the highest order.

Davis paused for a moment, looking at them, revealing some true emotion for the first time. He guessed that he was unreasonable for still not wanting to compromise but still smiled.

”Why? Because if either one of my women wins the Candidacy, they will gift it to their respective immortal powers regardless of your two powers yapping for their aid. Thatʼs how they are, selfless and full of gratefulness for the inheritance they have been bestowed with.”

”However, the way your two powers went about it, wanting to kill me to attain them, has completely infuriated them and put them in a bind, causing them to choose between me and the powers they should stay loyal to. Obviously, they chose me over glory and returned the gratitude, causing them to be looked at like they were ungrateful. I donʼt mind what the world calls me, but for the world to call them names, I wonʼt forgive anyone. But more than that, to have made them agonize on this decision, I would never forgive the Fire Phoenix Clan and the Earth Dragon Clan for it.”

Davisʼs voice was bone-chilling cold at the end, but the Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunder turned to look at each other.

So this was a matter of love and care he had for his women.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, they couldnʼt help but smile as they felt that the other party was a brethren.

They turned to look at Davis, their smiles leaving their faces.

”I understand what we as a power have done to you and your two wives. We are… apologetic over it.”

”Indeed. Whatʼs done is done and cannot be taken away, but we can look forward together.”

Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunder said, but it caused Davis to merely smile and shake his head.

”I also apologize. We decided that as long as the Fire Phoenix Clan and Earth Dragon Clan didnʼt corner us, we would participate in the Candidacy and still help your powers, staying true to our words exchanged with the inheritance masters. However, there would be no relations in it and just a pure transactional value of returning the gratitude.”

Davis stood up, looking like he was going to leave, ”However, since you people compromised as a form of sincerity, if you still want a share in the treasures, we could maybe do something about that.”

”I donʼt want that.” Great Ancestor Zenflame stood up, his expression solemn, ”It is of no use since we would either ascend to the immortal world together or die trying.”

”True. Instead, use that to improve our inheritors as much as you can. We donʼt have much time.”

Their tone was a bit commanding and a bit pleading, causing Davis to blink.

Were they really not interested in the inheritance? Perhaps, they really werenʼt, considering they were once owners of inheritances themselves. However, would that be the same for their powers?

He managed to garner a glance and saw their expressions twitch.

ʼLooks like the bottom feeders still want it, though...ʼ

However, he inwardly smiled. What could they do against their Great Ancestors? Without them, they would lose their reason to be here.

But still, he couldnʼt understand. For what reason did the two Great Ancestors have to listen to his voice? What would he do if he was in their position?

Davis couldnʼt help but wonder, thinking if there was a piece of a puzzle that he hadnʼt still found yet to know their true faces or if compromising was their true intention all along.

”Well, it seems like we lost an inheritor due to mishandling the situation. This couldnʼt be forced, and Iʼll leave it to fate to repair things. If at all you do want to join us, you are welcome to our power at any time.”

”Unlike him, Iʼll still pester you every month by messaging talisman to join us, so donʼt take offense for that, thinking that Iʼm cornering you.”

”Ahaha~ Iʼd be expecting the messages of one-sided love then.”

Davis couldnʼt help but laugh at Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunderʼs words while they also returned the laughter. Although not from the beginning, halfway through, he felt that these people were vastly different from the arrogant fellows who interacted with him before, demanding that he leave Isabella and Shirley and give them to their powers on a platter.

However, he also felt like he couldnʼt rely on his instincts on this one, feeling like he had to be diplomatic about it.

But at this moment, his expression couldnʼt help but twitch.

Behind him, the door opened, and thereafter stepped two beauties, one wearing a crimson robe and the other wearing a golden robe.

Even without looking back, Davis couldnʼt help but inwardly sigh. Looks like the cat was going to be out of the bag, but he also felt that it couldnʼt be helped as sooner or later, they were going to be found who they were right now.

Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunderʼs brows widened as they saw the two beauties walk in. The two of them hurriedly walked out of the table and cupped their hands to them.

”Fourth Inheritor Isabella Davis…”

”Fourth Inheritor Shirley Davis...”

Isabella and Shirley came to a stop as they were stunned inwardly. Whatʼs going on? Why were they being addressed through their husbandʼs name, which the Fire Phoenix Clan and Earth Dragon Clan would never admit?

Still, the two of them heard Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunder introducing themselves and introducing the second and third inheritors, causing them to lightly nod their heads.

Suddenly, Crystia, Hirona, and Sierra of the Earth Dragon Clan and the Fire Phoenix Clan quickly moved toward Isabella and Shirley.

”Whatʼs going on? Tell us the truth.”

”Do you two really love him?”

”Although we donʼt have a problem, do you understand that as long as you two take part in the Candidacy, there could be a time when you might have to kill each other?”

Great Ancestor Zenflame and Great Ancestor Rocksunder couldnʼt help but wryly smile. As men with experience, they believed Davisʼs words as they found him similar, but women were women. They had to confirm the veracity of his words through the inheritors themselves.

Looking at Isabella and Shirley being bombarded, Davis also wryly shook his head. However, he was astonished and prideful over Isabella and Shirleyʼs appearance, not over their physical appearances but their levelheadedness to appear in their soul bodies, which didnʼt really show or explicitly release their imperial auras of Emperor-Tier.

The cat was not out of the bag yet.

”No matter how many times weʼre asked, we would say the same thing.”

Isabella said in a prideful tone, causing Shirley to nod her head.

”True. We cultivate and die together with our husband. Anything else comes secondary, so if we were to run into each other during the Candidacy, one of us would give up, and as for who that one is, we have already decided.”

”…?”

Their declaration suddenly caused the hall to flare up with discussions and caused the other inheritors to become stunned.

In fact, Davis also became stunned. He hadnʼt heard of this yet. Were his Isabella and Shirley just bullshitting?

”Who?”

Sierra narrowed her eyes at the two of them, intently watching their body language.

However, Shirley and Isabella were as composed as ever, appearing elegant and magnificent to everyoneʼs gaze. Their souls didnʼt reveal much, but their bodies still held a regal bearing that couldnʼt be easily replicated.

”Naturally, we wouldnʼt say it, lest we be taken advantage of.” Shirley grinned behind her veil.

Her words caused a few eyes to flicker while one of them snickered.

”Heh, things arenʼt so easy. What if giving up means dying?” Crystia asked with a rude tone while intently staring at Isabella.

”Weʼll still die for our families just like you people would give up your lives for the clan. Am I wrong?”

”…”

However, Isabella still answered that question in a melodious and graceful voice, causing Crystia to be stunned. Her brows narrowed, appearing to have complicated emotions over it.

”Iʼm sorry for assuming you were… ugh, letʼs not think about that.” She cupped her hands, ”As a fellow female inheritor of the Earth Dragon Clan, I, Crystia, respect your decision and integrity. I can see why you were chosen as the candidate despite the situation you chose to land yourself in.”

”Youʼre not bad either, senior.”

Isabella smiled back, and the both of them seemed like they were friends who didnʼt meet for a long time.

Hirona and Sierra were also approving of Shirley as they talked for a few minutes, boisterously laughing and talking about romantic things like how sweet and heroic their husbands were.

”…”

Looking at this sight, Davis couldnʼt help but inwardly sigh. The inheritors getting along was the original sight he wanted to see when stepping into the immortal world, but the powers behind them didnʼt let that happen.

However, as he cast a look around, he guessed that youths and people who took care of power didnʼt have the same thought process, leading to this spiral of different emotions filling the room.
