Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2669 Leaning

”...”

Ellia glanced at Davis and Myria. She couldnʼt tell if something was going on between them, but she also smiled.

”My prince, this sect is good.”

”I think so too.” Davis nodded, turning to look into the distance.

He couldnʼt see Elder Earthsaber anymore. The latter was perhaps chasing those Godwin Family Immortal Emperors all the way to the edge of the domain, that is, if they managed to survive before that could happen.

”Who were they?” Natalya couldnʼt help but ask.

”Theyʼre a famous Immortal King couple from the Godwin Family.”

Abruptly, Rea Tyriel crashed their group as she descended toward them, appearing high and mighty. Davis blinked. Didnʼt he say that their relationship as allies would soon be over?

Still, Rea Tyriel continued.

”Theyʼre known for their ability to trap and crush their opponents within a spatial barrier, not a lock, which makes it even more difficult to get rid of. Theyʼre so good at it that they had their own titles, Skycrusher and Voidsnatcher. The latter binds her opponent, and the man crushes them, simple but dangerous. They are fairly young, only about five hundred years old, so I didnʼt expect them to have entered the Immortal Emperor Stage.”

”Oh?” Davis raised his brows, ”Theyʼre new pillars of the Godwin Family, so can I expect them to have more Immortal Emperors than the number you gave us?”

”Of course.” Rea Tyrielʼs lips curled, ”New Immortal Emperors sprout every few hundred years. This should be no different. However, with the Candidacy at hand, every power would use their non-inheritor and non-heir candidates to the fullest, even if it means sacrificing their potential to temporarily increase their strength to the state where they become pillars of their power.”

”...”

”The more Immortal Emperors there are, the better a power could survive. In other words, an inheritor is only a seed of hope. It will take time for it to bud, but until then, there must be guardians who should protect the seed. Do you understand?”

Davis perfunctorily nodded to Rea Tyrielʼs words and cupped his hands.

”Thank you for the valuable lesson, Young Mistress Rea Tyriel. I take it that youʼll be leaving the Aurora Cloud Gate?”

”Regrettably, yes, and most likely, the Aurora Cloud Gate will not tolerate me or the other disciples belonging to other powers staying here anymore sooner or later. After all, once we reach the peak of the Immortal King Stage, we are supposed to leave if we donʼt swear loyalty to the sect. I am fond of this sect but not enough to betray my home for it.”

”We all have our intentions and choices. I wish you good luck.”

”...”

Rea Tyriel glared at him. Was he poking at the point that she was going on about luck and whatnot but had to essentially see an existence like her, someone with boundless luck, turn up dead here?

Even his gesture seemed rather insincere.

However, seeing his unchanging expression and his understanding words, she thought that he didnʼt mean it that way and nodded her head.

”I wish you good luck as well. You need it more than me.”

Rea Tyriel lightly harrumphed before she turned around and left.

Davis was taken aback as he felt that she sounded rather adorable. Still, Rea Tyriel didnʼt completely leave. She glanced at Myria, sighing a bit before she cupped her hands toward her.

”Although I didnʼt learn much from you, I was still able to see a suitable path. You have my thanks.”

Only after saying this piece did she leave, not even expecting a reply from Myria.

Myria didnʼt even turn to look at her, still keeping her eyes in the distance. Davis saw that she was still concerned if Immortal Emperors would appear.

But at this moment, the flying boat shook and started moving forward, resuming its journey to the Aurora Cloud Gate. He couldnʼt help but blink, wondering if they were leaving behind Elder Earthsaber.

Everyone was alert for a while but seeing that there were no obstructions as a minute passed, the disciples all relaxed.

”Myria, did you see perhaps... see Ellia and me... back there?”

Suddenly, Davis sent Myria a soul transmission, causing her relaxed body to turn stiff. She turned to look at him like a machine, appearing cold and indifferent. However, she closed her eyes, and her bosoms heaved as though taking a deep breath.

”I did indeed tell you to give me a grandchild but learn to be sensible. This isnʼt the place to do something like that, as any Immortal Emperor here could easily spy on you.”

”My bad...”

Davis pursed his lips as he wryly smiled. He really wasnʼt intent on doing anything here other than kissing Ellia, but if Myria mistook that and really didnʼt listen to what they were truly going on about back there, then he didnʼt want to nitpick about this anymore and tried to move on.

But surprisingly, he felt that Myria didnʼt berate him.

In truth, he saw that she was more like a mature mother. She didnʼt really seem disgusted by their actions, which he thought she would. Rather, she was kind of...

ʼ... supportive like a true mother-in-law?ʼ

Davis really didnʼt expect this from her and expected that she would lash out that he was a good-for-nothing and lustful rogue.

”I also apologize for barging in.” Myria sighed, ”It was just... nothing.”

Abruptly, she looked like she realized something before she turned around and left.

”Iʼll see you later. My injuries are flaring up.”

”Oh... take care.”

Davis said with some worry. However, he narrowed his eyes, catching a glimpse of her ears turning red for some reason. Before he could see more, she was like a breeze, quickly disappearing from his view among the sea of disciples, causing him to wryly shake his head.

ʼIf she is heavily injured, would it hurt to ask for my help...?ʼ

Davis felt like he could never understand this woman. But suddenly, he flinched as he realized something.

ʼWait... she approached me first when danger was about to encroach her...?ʼ

”...”

Davis blinked his gaze at a distance before turning to look at his wife.

”Natalya, why didnʼt you two stop Myria from barging in?”

”Ah...” Natalya flinched, ”Husband. Iʼm sorry... I didnʼt think she would be that fast...”

”Fast?”

Davis raised his brows, causing Natalya to nod twice.

”Yes... her eyes were eerily solemn too, so after I said for her to stop and she didnʼt, I didnʼt say anything anymore. I thought you two had something important to discuss when we heard the announcement, which really stunned us. During that time, she was like the wind, quickly bashing the door open. Was I... useless?”

Natalyaʼs expression seemed to appear to be caught between remorse and tears, her fingers shaking as she held hands together.

”Youʼre not.” Davis grabbed her hands quickly upon seeing her over-exaggerated reaction, which he could actually tell was true, and assured her. She was that worried about his opinion, but he knew that was how Natalya was. Her world was him, and the weight she put on his words was naturally as heavy as a star like a sun.

”In fact, I would say that you did well.”

Davis further complimented Natalya, but he couldnʼt help but grin without even knowing, causing Natalya to be confused as she blinked. If he wasnʼt angry, why did he ask? Could it be that he wanted Myria to see him doing ʼbadʼ things? For what?

Just as she thought, she suddenly realized something, her expression turning wry as she turned to look at Ellia, who naturally shrugged.

On the other hand, music was playing in Davisʼs ears.

So Myria didnʼt look for Tanya, who was the most powerful in his group currently and was available right beside Natalya at that time but hastily looked for him instead?

This kind of reliance from Myria, he was starting to crave it, realizing that perhaps, her ears turning red wasnʼt just his imagination and not a sign of unhealthiness stemming from injuries as well, which could only mean one thing.

ʼDamn, youʼre starting to lie now...?ʼ

Davis inwardly cackled, feeling that the trip to the Mercurial Blitz Ice Valley was definitely worth it. His biggest gains were naturally Tanya gaining an immortal inheritance and the huge amount of contribution points that they all raked in, but personally, causing Myria to fall in love with him was something he enjoyed pursuing with excitement because he was truly attracted to her.

The last time he felt like this was when he courted Isabella, causing him to feel youthful again.

”...”

Suddenly thinking of Isabella, he couldnʼt wait to see her along with the others as well.

But at this moment, he sensed an anomaly in the distance.
