Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2670 A Breather

Davis looked beyond the invisible protective formation, sensing something odd. Not only Davis but every disciple still on the deck turned to look in that direction, wondering what it was. Some even aligned themselves behind Elder Whitejoy, who had returned to the flying boat.

They all braced themselves in one way or another.

”Watch out!” Elder Whitejoy suddenly shouted, his eyes going wide.

”…!”

His warning quickly made almost all the disciples squat down, bracing themselves for impact, some even ready to use their protective talisman, which would rather be useless against Immortal Emperors. Their hearts leaped out of their throat, waiting for the attack.

But even after ten seconds, they saw that nothing had happened.

*Whoosh!~*

Half a minute later, when everyone was already starting to relax, thinking it was nothing, Elder Earthsaber appeared on the deck, withholding his saber above his shoulder, regretfully shaking his head.

”Sigh… those two Immortal Emperors, although weak, knew how to escape. As expected of immortals who practice Space Laws as their main. They are not easy to kill.”

”…”

Many were stunned by his sudden appearance that they first doubted if it was him, but sensing his aura, they became relaxed, but a warm sensation appeared on their cheeks, full of embarrassment and anger. However, what could they do? Scold the elders?

ʼHehe… these elder… scaring their disciples right before one of them giving a sudden entry...ʼ

Davis could only shake his head. These elders were truly looking for fun that he couldnʼt help himself finding pity for the Godwin Familyʼs new Immortal Emperors.

Although it was regretful that Elder Earthsaber didnʼt kill those two Immortal Emperors named Skycrusher and Voidsnatcher, he figured that it would buy them some time before the true war broke out. Otherwise, if they were killed and the war imploded on them, there was no telling who would manage to survive.

Moreover, even though the Godwin Family sent Immortal Emperors, he mused that they were nothing more than an opening to the show because of their low prowess that easily lost to Elder Earthsaber. However, he didnʼt underestimate Skycrusher and Voidsnatcher as both of their prowess seemed to be near two levels above, with each of them able to fare a level above their cultivation base.

This meant that as Immortal Emperors, they possessed a Heaven Immortal Vessel, which allowed their prowess to leap a level. But other than that, their skill in comprehension seemed to be average at best, that is, when considering their abilities in the realm of Immortal Emperors.

This also meant that Elder Earthsaber, who was at Level One Immortal Emperor Stage according to his calculations, was able to cross two levels, which meant that he was at least a core disciple during his days as a disciple in the sect.

While most of the disciples were embarrassed or mad, Davis went straight to the two elders and opened his mouth.

”Elder Earthsaber, despite living for a long time, why havenʼt you progressed at all in your cultivation base?”

”…”

Everyone was stunned at the Emperor of Death for asking this kind of question. Was he courting death? Besides, even if the elder hadnʼt advanced one bit in his cultivation base, was that something he, a mere Immortal Stage fledgling, could ask?

They were truly floored by his guts.

Elder Earthsaber glanced at Davis, narrowing his brows at him before he shook his head.

”Sigh, donʼt bother.”

”Could it be that your potential was ruined?”

However, Davis didnʼt let up, causing Elder Earthsaber to make an unamused expression. But he still sighed and opened his mouth.

”Youʼre half right. It was a tumultuous time when I… when we three were Peak Immortal Kings. At that time… sigh… we were besieged on all sides when the world suddenly became… unwelcoming of us.”

Davisʼs brows narrowed. Did this have something to do with the Divergent Slayers that the Frostcloud Sword Empress warned him about? Still, he couldnʼt help but want to explore further, wanting to know more about the past.

”Did the Aurora Cloud Gate make you three…?”

”Of course not! It is the choice we choose to make! If it meant dying for the sect, we would happily do it! Brat, stop asking questions and go cultivate. Otherwise, you will die even if I donʼt kill you.”

Elder Earthsaber seemed to be at his limit, berating Davis as he pointed at his face.

Davis raised his hands in surrender, seemingly no longer opening his mouth. Looking at his gesture, Elder Earthsaber also retracted his hand and harrumphed as he looked away. Seemed like he had touched a sore spot, or so Davis mused.

He turned around and left. However, just as he took a step, he opened his mouth again, turning to look at Elder Earthsaber.

”Also, I have been thinking about why those two Immortal Emperors were able to block us quickly even though they came from so far away. I think it has to do with that idiot over there.”

Davis gestured with his thumb, causing Elder Earthsaberʼs gaze to fall on a purple-robed man on the deck.

”What!? How dare you accuse me without any evidence!?”

Mystic Diviner Rakestream fumed as he waved his hand.

”Didnʼt you also accuse me without any evidence? Itʼs the same thing.”

Davis shrugged and continued, ”I admit Iʼm speculating here, but you and your group are the ones who are the most suspicious in this scenario unless they tracked Immortal King Voidsmoke here. Iʼm not going to ask the elders to punish or even investigate you but everyone… keep an eye on any possible traitors. We are nearing tumultuous times, and anyone who works for their original powers should just leave instead of making trouble.”

”Donʼt get me wrong. Iʼm not dividing anyone here. However, it is time to choose sides. Some of you may not be aware, but the world is going to enter a new era. If there is anything that is clear, then it would be the fact that the world is no longer going to be as peaceful as before.”

”…”

Many people couldnʼt help but be stunned.

Amidst the silence of the disciples, Davis simply took his people and left. However, he left behind a group of disciples who looked at Mystic Diviner Rakestream, who looked as though he was a traitor, causing him to be incensed.

Mystic Diviner Rakestream also turned around and left, seemingly incensed beyond compare.

The elders watched him leave as a cold gleam emerged in their eyes.

”What do you think?”

”Heʼs good at asking us to monitor him without asking us to monitor him.”

The both of them smirked as they exchanged soul transmissions, but they knew for a fact that Mystic Diviner Rakestream was extremely suspicious as they intercepted a voice transmission leaving the ship.

Its content was obscure, but soon after, they were met with two Immortal Emperors blocking their path. Even if Davis hadnʼt said it, they were going to investigate one way or another and exile Mystic Diviner Rakestream if they found him to be the culprit.
