Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2628 Three Divergents

”...”

Davis was also stunned by Frostcloud Sword Empressʼs words.

Was she one of the very few disciples Saintess Lunaria had? He also felt that she was a Divergent.

Meanwhile, Natalya and Tanya also arrived at the same conclusion, but they had already felt that it was likely when they heard that she was a part of the higher echelon of the Aurora Cloud Gate.

”Yes. Saintess Lunaria has not ascended yet.”

”I see.”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress nodded at Myria, looking no longer nostalgic, before she turned to look at Davis.

”Since youʼre all tagging along with my junior sister, it seems I can talk with ease. Isnʼt that right, junior sister? We can catch up on many things in a short while.”

”Itʼs not a problem.”

Hearing Myriaʼs words, she continued, knowing that Myria and Davis were quite close as the former held the latterʼs sleeve when entering.

”Do you now understand why I doubted how there can be three of you who can comprehend my icy intent with ease? Iʼm a Divergent, as you would expect, so for people to have fate with me after my early years is most likely nonsense. It will get scrambled or warped by the heavens even if there were in my later years, so for three of them to have compatibility with my icy swords arts simultaneously, I find it immensely strange.”

”It turns out you are involved with a Divergent like my junior sister.” The Frostcloud Sword Empress narrowed her brows and once again took a look at Tanya, ”No wonder...”

ʼItʼs actually me though...ʼ Davis thought but didnʼt say it, keeping his lips pursed and remaining irrelevant.

”Since I confirmed that there isnʼt any foul play here, I can bestow my inheritance to you with peace in my heart. The question is, are you willing to become my personal disciple and incur karmic burden, Tanya?”

Tanya pursed her lips, ”I accept.”

Her instant answer left the Frostcloud Sword Empress speechless.

”Do you understand what youʼre saying? Receiving a bit of guidance from me is not much of a price to pay for supreme geniuses of your level. However, becoming my personal disciple as you accept my inheritance is another thing altogether. The difficulty of your life will increase exponentially.”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress warned with a grave tone.

Tanyaʼs lips curled behind her veil as she could see the other party wholeheartedly wanted her to choose, as there was a huge risk involved, causing her to become heartened. Now that the Frostcloud Sword Empress has revealed her intentions, the previous displeasure also left.

However... who was her man?

He received the title ʼDivineʼ from the collective souls of an entire world and underwent the most powerful Annihilative Immortal Tribulation she had ever heard in her life. There was no way his karmic burden would lose out to the Frostcloud Sword Empress unless she was also a person of his caliber but judging by her tone, she didnʼt seem that monstrous. Utmost, she would be ranked first since she had become a Guardian later on, but Tanya knew even the first rank wasnʼt a match for her husband at the same level.

Tanya glanced slightly at Davis, smiling before she shook her head and cupped her hands, slightly bowing her head.

”Thank you for warning me, master.”

”So be it.”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress heavily nodded with a gratified smile. She deeply appreciated the other partyʼs confidence. Extending her hand out, a deep ice-blue, glowing object shaped like a star appeared as it plunged towards Tanya, causing the latter to reach out her hands and hold it, feeling a disturbing chill, but it was also slightly warm as though indicating that it wouldnʼt harm her.

”Refine it. Itʼs the core of the inheritance mansion and also the core of the Mercurial Blitz Ice Valley that will allow you to extend your senses and find all Unfettered Ice Fiends in order to eliminate them.”

Tanya became shocked. This was a golden treasure useful for their current missions.

Davis and Myria also had their eyes wide. Wouldnʼt this help them get plenty of contribution points and clear the calamity easily?

”Yes, master~”

Tanya cupped her hands once again before becoming seated on the spot as she began to refine the core.

The Frostcloud Sword Empress watched her refine before her gaze landed on Davis. She looked at his prideful smile, causing her to move her lips again.

”As for you, you are truly kind. Donʼt misinterpret kindness for weakness.”

”Being kind is not a cheap virtue. It requires strength in your inner heart and the capability to handle the aftermath. Otherwise, youʼre just causing trouble with your inability to be truly kind, so the fact that you could give those two Essence Orbs to them without using it for yourself also means you have the capability to back up any trouble that might come after it.”

”Of course.” Davis smiled deeply as he cupped his hands, ”Thank you for elderʼs praise.”

Those treasures were not much use to him except for the Life Essence Orb and the Death Essence Orb. However, he always felt that increasing collective strength was also important, as resources could only provide so much to oneʼs cultivation. Once he absorbed eighty percent potency from any resource, absorbing further would be useless and wouldnʼt make much of a difference, so he preferred to share it as it would benefit the collective group.

It was the most optimal and logical decision he could take to ensure the survival of his family.

Besides him, Natalya couldnʼt help but find these words wise. She also felt that it was true as she remembered not only did Davis save her from an underground auction house, but he also kept her safe for a time before returning her to her family safely.

However, his kindness didnʼt come cheap. It was only after she pleaded and stuck to him did he oblige and took her to be cared for.

Those illusory people she saved in the trials also begged to be saved from the savage beasts. For one to be kind required the other to hand their self-respect and, sometimes, even their life over to them.

That was why she could deeply resonate with the sentence that kindness was not a cheap virtue. It held immense responsibility and could be easily misused, taking advantage of the helpless. She remembered he asked her how he should treat Tia. So this was what he meant, as he didnʼt know if he was being kind to her or taking advantage of her.

ʼIt was no wonder he could master Enigmatic Heart Laws...ʼ

Natalya couldnʼt help but look at him with renewed affection. He cared so much about them that his actions repeatedly made her fall in love all over again.

”As her husband, I hope you will protect Tanya until she arrives before me in the true immortal world. If I am dead, then only you can protect her.”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress continued, causing Davis to shake his head.

”Even if you are alive, I will still be the one to take care of her and protect her. That wouldnʼt change.”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress blinked, wondering how much he was protective of them. It was no wonder they were obsessed over him and put him above her, even right before her eyes, but she shook her head.

”I can see that, but you should temporarily send her to me so that I can teach her personally.”

”I understand.” Davis pursed his lips.

The situation in the immortal world was unknown, so how could he send his Tanya easily? That would be foolish of him, but for the moment, he agreed. He never said when he would send her, after all.

”Frostcloud Sword Empress...” Natalya abruptly spoke, but her voice was hesitant, seemingly unwilling to interrupt their conversation.

”Oh, and thereʼs Natalya as well.” The Frostcloud Sword Empressʼs voice became amused, ”If Tanya wasnʼt here, she wouldʼve become my personal disciple as I saw that she was capable of comprehending my icy sword intent well but wouldnʼt be capable as Tanya in sword arts. Nonetheless, I wouldnʼt have minded making an exception and taking two personal disciples as Tanya appeared agreeable but unfortunately, thereʼs only one inheritance. Dividing it will only cause trouble in your family.”

Davis raised his brows, a bit honored that the Frostcloud Sword Empress thought that far ahead.

”Frostcloud Sword Empress is too magnanimous and considerate. However, my women are quite generous as well. Theyʼll share if one of their sisters asks nicely, so thereʼs no need to even think about dividing the inheritance.”

”Truly?” The Frostcloud Sword Empress narrowed her eyes, ”How strange... I wouldnʼt be easily able to see a harem like the one you describe, as it would be a bloodbath most times. There are too many surprises about you, including this matter. Are you also a person of your own fate?”

Davis simply smiled, not answering that he was Divergent. However, he was inwardly astounded by the other partyʼs sharp eyes.

”Frostcloud Sword Empress...” Natalyaʼs interrupted again, but her tone this time was urgent, ”... you said something about the Unfettered Behemoth Ice Fiend being sealed in the abyss...?”

”What did you say!?”

Myriaʼs eyes shot wide as she swiveled her head at Natalya, looking shocked. Her reaction caused Natalya to flinch as she raised both her hands, acting like she wasnʼt responsible for this matter and she knew nothing about it.

However, Myria knew what it was, causing her heart to sink.
