Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2609 First Level Of The Icy Sword Essence

”Fastest to comprehend the icy sword essence wins the inheritance…?

Tanya smirked as she looked around the emptiness. What was she supposed to comprehend here?

Empty oneʼs thoughts and even oneʼs heart?

She couldnʼt understand, but just as she tried to close her eyes to try, the scenery before her changed, bringing her to a footpath.

Surrounding her was a few huts that made up a village and a palace towered in the distance. She couldnʼt help but blink, turning around to look at the place and recognizing that she was in a village.

However, she couldnʼt sense any cultivation from the people moving around the footpath and the farm.

Was she in a mortal village?

But suddenly, the sound of galloping horses echoed across the village.

*Bang!~*

The gates were broken with a loud bang, but before that even happened, the farmers rushed across the field, trying to hide themselves in the vast, tall crops silently as though they knew this would happen, but there was a child who had suddenly stopped on the footpath, unable to move as she looked at the horse approaching her at full speed.

”Ahaha~ Die!”

The man sitting on top of the horse raised his spear and skewered it towards the little girl with an amused smile.

”Brazen bandit! Stop!”

Tanyaʼs eyes revealed anger at this scene as she instantly disappeared from her location and reappeared before the little girl. An icy sword instantly manifested in her hand as she struck the spear and split the bandit in two along with the horse that almost rammed into them.

Blood splattered crazily from their bodies, but Tanya was not splashed with blood as her innate ice energy barrier roaming over her pale skin held them at bay. Noticing the other bandits turning, scared of her to leave, she turned to look at the little girl, who shook at the bloody scene but still forced a smile at Tanya.

”Elder sister, thank you for saving my life! But… you failed!”

”Uh?”

Tanya blinked, and then suddenly, the world before her disintegrated. Just as she blinked again, she saw that she was on the very same footpath that she was sent to. Everything changed so fast that she couldnʼt help but find herself become dumbfounded.

*Bang!~*

Just as she came out of her reverie, she heard the sound of the gates being forced open.

The sounds of galloping horses resounded across with vileness, causing her to instinctively react. Her figure flashed, and she found herself blocking the tip of the spear and then hurled forwards to slash across space.

*Puchi!~*

The sound of flesh being severed apart could be heard as blood splashed all over the area.

Tanyaʼs pupils were dilated yet sharp. Just as she relaxed and turned to look around, she saw the little girl smile sweetly.

”Elder sister, thank you for saving my life!” Her mellow voice sounded utterly grateful, ”But… you failed!”

*Whoosh!~*

”…”

Tanya once again found herself on the villageʼs footpath. Her expression froze while she turned around to look, looking at the gates being destroyed once again with a resounding bang. The bandit riding on the horse made his way to the little child again. But before the bandit could even get near the little girl, Tanyaʼs figure flashed as she appeared before the little girl.

”Are you poisoned?”

Tanya quickly checked the little girlʼs body. However, she found nothing of concern in an instant. She waved her hand back, and an icy sword manifested, deflecting the spear and stabbing into the banditʼs neck, causing him to hold his neck as he fell off the horse.

”Elder sister, thank you for saving my life! But… you failed!”

Tanya lightly stumbled as she found herself once again on the footpath again.

She raised her head and watched the same thing happen again, her pupils trembling.

”Donʼt tell me...”

This time, Tanya didnʼt move and watched the bandit near the little girl. His silver spear was raised before he stabbed it into her heart, cackling as he lifted her and brought her along with him as though he had just hunted an animal.

Tanyaʼs gaze shook. Before she knew it, she sliced across space and caused the banditʼs head to be lopped off. It flew across the air, but before it could fall on the ground…

*Whoosh!~* She was back on the footpath once again.

The same thing occurred as the bandit galloped across the footpath, his spear aimed toward the helpless little girl.

*Puchi!~*

Natalya watched the little girl getting skewered as her eyes shook, causing her to clench her teeth.

”Ah! So hateful! Iʼm not playing this twisted game!”

She turned to look away, unable to look at the little girl die as she called out to her by reaching her hands. This was already her fourth time reliving this scene.

Before long, she arrived on the same footpath again, causing her to take in a heavy breath to calm her anger.

”No… a child cannot be suffering from this kind of fate...”

Ieshaʼs face was full of tears as she held her mouth. She was a gentle spirit, unable to even kill the bandit as she had just subdued him the first time. The second time, she killed the bandit, and by the fourth, she realized that she had to let the child die.

She could only look away, closing her eyes to the cruelty that was going to happen before her.

”Uh… Am I supposed to watch this child die with… indifference in my heart?”

Niel Bladeheart raised his hand and scratched his head, looking uncomfortable. He had also saved the child three times already before watching the child get skewered on the fourth. He struck the bandit and carried the child, trying to heal her with one of his healing pills. However, the little girl said that he had failed in her dying breath and the space got reset again, bringing him back to the footpath.

However, there was a silver-robed woman who looked at the scene with cold eyes.

Despite the little girl getting skewered by the spear and lifted up like a trophy as she was paraded around the village, she watched on without even batting an eye. However, it didnʼt stop there. The bandits flooded the village, searched around, and found the villagers, massacring and pillaging the village with utter wickedness in their hearts.

Before long, the entire village was razed in flames, and the little girl was skewered on a hunt, blood dripping from her body as she had her head lowered. She couldnʼt be any more dead. However, she raised her head with a dull visage, looking into the silver-robed womanʼs eyes.

”Elder sister… strike the bandits down with your cold indifference...”

Just as Yuren heard it, her black eyes flashed with a hint of emotion as she raised her frail hands. Her fingers danced as though they pulled on many strings when an icy shockwave emerged and spread throughout the region, some waves even turning into swords.

Instantly, the village razed in flames turned into an icy sculpture, and the bandits froze in place, their bodies becoming frozen stiff to death as they shattered from the swords striking them.

”You failed at the last step...”

However, Yuren heard a whisper of that dead child beside her before she found herself on the footpath for the fifth time.

”Interesting… my cold indifference wasnʼt enough to comprehend this icy intent?”

Yurenʼs eyes flashed with a hint of provocation. Just how cold one has to be to comprehend the Frostcloud Sword Empressʼs icy sword intent?
