Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2612 Playing Them

In a vast dome, an icy-blue-robed woman knelt amongst a mountainous pile of corpses. They seemed to be savage beasts of various kinds, ranging from ants to dragons, and she seemed to be covered in blood, making her possess a murderous aura.

However, below the mountain of corpses were more savage beasts teeming as they revealed their ferocious nature by gnarling and solely focusing their bloody and hungry gaze on the icy-blue-robed woman.

Their limbs moved and bent, seemingly ready to pounce on the icy blue-robed woman.

But at this moment, the icy-blue-robed woman tremblingly stood up, raising her icy sword to welcome them. However, she ended up disappearing from space, leaving behind a world that froze and began to disperse into nothingness.

”The icy determination to survive, not even having a trace of fear despite the impossible odds...”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress saw Tanya not give in to her fears as she remained steadfast and cold under the onslaught of the savage beasts. She didnʼt give up nor let go of her sword even after reaching an exhausted state, causing the Frostcloud Sword Empress to become impressed.

Even though Tanya was the fourth to arrive at the second level, she was the first to pass.

”Hmm? That little spirit also passed...?”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress turned to look at Iesha at this moment, looking at the changes she bore to her psyche. She recognized after becoming exhausted, Ieshaʼs mind entered a state of survival and began reaping the savage beasts by invoking her new comprehension of icy essence comprehended at the realm of life and death.

That was what the Frostcloud Sword Empress planned for her inheritor to comprehend, but she was astonished to find two of them comprehending it shortly after one another.

A short time later, Niel Bladeheart also comprehended the icy essence of survival she implanted in the scenario. However, soon after, Natalya comprehended it and went to the third level.

However, the Frostcloud Sword Empress was shocked as Natalya was way faster than Niel Bladeheart in comprehending the icy essence of survival despite being late to the second level.

”What...? Iesha seems to have a soul connection with Natalya, and Natalya calls Tanya her sister. In what way are these three women related? They seem to be not afraid of death and quickly comprehend the icy essence of survival. Whatʼs going on...?”

The Frostcloud Sword Empress became full of doubt over their origin. She already thought that Iesha was Natalyaʼs helper, but that didnʼt seem to be the case as Natalya declared that she wouldnʼt take this inheritance from her sister Tanya now, even Iesha, a Frigid World Spirit, was comprehending at a faster rate compared to Niel Bladeheart whom she had a better opinion of.

A short time later, Yuren also passed, but since she was the second one to arrive and the last one to pass, the Frostcloud Sword Empress thought that her results didnʼt meet the expectation she had set for her this time.

”...”

But still, she didnʼt know what to think as all five trialists suddenly seemed to have an equal chance of winning this inheritance, slightly making her suspicious over what was going on as there would be only two or three utmost having the chance to gain the inheritance at any time.

=======

”What? Are you two not going to attack? If not, then leave.”

A purple-robed man lightly laughed before he waved his hand, causing the white-robed woman before him on the opposite side, floating on a rock, to flicker. Her figure suddenly flashed with a hazy white light instead of the pure white she exhibited, causing her to disappear.

*Caw!~*

A dreadful might emerged as a dark illumination enveloped Davis, causing him to be sealed in a dark space where he didnʼt know left or right. He couldnʼt see Rea Tyriel nor sense anymore.

However, he could see a flash of white lunar light that traversed across space. Looking closely, Davis saw a black crow with white stripes and the symbol of a crescent moon on his forehead, shining with the lunar glow of the moon.

The undulations radiating from Black Tyriel were powerful, and his aura was intrinsically heavy. His Emperor-Tier aura tried to shake his heart. But Davis had the same languid expression on his face, looking utterly composed as he raised his hand.

”Wrong move, little crow.”

*Whizzz!~*

Death energy arose from Davisʼs body like a tsunami, filling up the space around him.

The Emperor-Tier aura of the Lunar Crow was dreadful, but at this moment, even that same Lunar Crow, Black Tyriel, couldnʼt help but feel his giant heart skip a beat at the sheer amount of ominous energy that filled the space. His wings were covered in a black-white lunar light churned with even more power, trying to squeeze into the giant wave of death energy, but the moment he touched that thing, his heart wavered, and so did his circulation of light energy.

However, before he could even make any changes, he abruptly felt himself being pulled to the side.

”What!?”

Black Tyriel flapped his giant crow wings, trying to regain balance, but he found out that he couldnʼt move and was being thrown into the abyss.

”Black!”

Rea Tyriel emerged from the void and waved her hand. A string of glazed light flexibly extended from her arm as it caught one of Black Tyrielʼs wings. However, Rea Tyriel suddenly couldnʼt help but feel a sense of dread swell in her heart. When she quickly turned to look around, she saw a huge wave of death energy approaching her.

”...!?”

She didnʼt know how it was even possible as she had just revealed herself, but still, she tried to make a counteroffensive, only to suddenly feel weightless as she was dragged towards the side. Her pupils flickered as she realized that she was going to fall into the abyss, a sense of despair creeping into her thoughts.

*Whoosh!~*

Rea Tyriel and Black Tyriel both fell off the rock the next moment, dropping straight into the abyss, causing their expressions to become pale.

However, just as she extended a hand out, a layer of dark energy wound around her arm like a rope and attached to her, causing her to come to a stop in mid-air as she hung. Black Tyriel also held onto Rea Tyriel in his little form. In that minute moment, he could only reduce his weight as an Emperor-Tier Immortal Beast to allow Rea Tyriel to save him.

They both swiveled their heads above and saw Davis holding the dark rope as his arm trembled, going against the pressure of the pull to keep them from dropping into the abyss.

”What... is the meaning of this...?”

Rea Tyriel clenched her teeth, her beautiful face reddening in shame. However, she didnʼt break the life-saving spatial talisman she held in her hand, waiting to hear his answer.

”If you lack confidence while traversing this path, you get pushed off the rocks. Iʼm pretty sure that was obvious for you two, but unfortunately, no matter who meets my death energy, there would be a sense of dread encroaching their hearts, making them lose their confidence even if it is for a minute moment, which is actually fatal here.”

Davis wryly shook his head, ”I told you this was the wrong move. This location was bad for you two to pick a fight against me.”

”Are you mocking me!?”

Rea Tyriel couldnʼt help but scream out, ”Youʼll pay for this, Emperor of Death.”

”Is that so? If thatʼs how you want to play this game, weʼll play it.”

”Ahh!~”

Davis abruptly loosened the strength of his hold over the rope, causing Rea Tyriel and Black Tyriel to plunge straight into the abyss once again!
