I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 846, Escape

Translator: Silavin

This time the boy demonstrated greater wisdom, positioning himself considerably higher, with dense foliage concealing his body.

However, largely due to the rain and not having eaten, the boy’s stamina had begun to fail.

He supported himself against the trunk with one hand, beginning to pant heavily, needing not only to conceal his form but also to regulate his breathing.

Furthermore, with rain falling from above and wearing only an animal hide half-skirt, any cool breeze would make him shiver.

[I cannot continue exhausting myself like this with it, otherwise I will eventually become a meal in its belly!] The boy thought, clenching his teeth.

At this moment he truly felt exhausted. Both physical and psychological torment had reached their apex.

He wanted to run, yet dared not act rashly. At this moment, the Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger prowled beneath the tree.

*Sniff sniff sniff…*

It seemed the rain did not affect the Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger’s sense of smell in the slightest. The torrential downpour could not mask the sound of the Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger scenting.

It had discovered the boy, raising its head to look at the boy’s hiding place in the tree, its four eyes staring fixedly at one location.

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger, as its name suggested, possessed extraordinarily long and sharp fangs, and also possessed two pairs of eyes. Otherwise, it did not differ significantly from tigers on Earth.

However, its size was double that of Earth’s tigers. An ordinary person standing beside it would resemble a dwarf.

The boy now felt somewhat regretful. He should have sought food earlier rather than sheltering from the rain here. If he had found food earlier to replenish his stamina, he would not now fear this Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger.

This Ferocious Beast was merely a Mix Blood Ferocious Beast. With the boy’s capabilities, he could have resolved the situation.

“I must manoeuvre slowly with it. If it truly comes to direct confrontation, I have no chance of victory.” The boy swung his spear, preparing to continue fleeing.

He began scanning the surrounding environment, determining which tree would be best for jumping, as Ferocious Beast attacks occurred instantaneously.

*Roar roar roar…*

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger emitted tremendous roaring sounds, its powerful hind legs propelling it upwards in a mighty leap.

In a lightning-fast moment it surged towards the boy’s position. The result proved predictable. The protruding branch also broke under the assault.

The boy reacted with equal swiftness, immediately leaping to another tree, observing the branch where he had previously stood, thick enough to require two people embracing it, yet easily broken.

He could not help swallowing, thinking that if that strike had landed upon his body…

He would likely have been reduced to pulp? He felt fortunate to have moved quickly enough.

*Roar roar roar…*

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger had been enraged to the extreme, having failed in several hunting attempts.

It seemed to perceive this as tremendous humiliation, now preparing to launch its final assault.

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger crouched slightly, its four limbs pacing back and forth on the ground, two pairs of sharp eyes staring fixedly at the boy.

This gaze created a chilling sensation. The boy naturally shared this feeling.

[This time I may not be so fortunate. If I cannot safely escape this time, I will die here.] The boy immediately began identifying his next target.

He noticed the Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger also scanning the surroundings, evidently predicting the boy’s landing point.

If this pounce failed, it would immediately shift to the next potential stopping location.

[Damn it! Are Ferocious Beasts this smart now!?] The boy wrinkled his lips.

He recognised something was amiss. He had never previously encountered such an intelligent Ferocious Beast.

Humans survived within Tribes entirely through wisdom.

Now, a crisis loomed over his head. This Ferocious Beast before him demonstrated exceptional intelligence.

The previous two or three failed attempts had taught it how to respond next time.

[It seems I must find a better landing point, otherwise I will easily become its food.] The boy dared not hesitate in the slightest.

He gripped the spear tightly with one hand, beginning to identify higher locations, preparing to leap to greater heights for evasion.

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger suddenly appeared exceptionally ferocious. However, it also possessed a weakness, which was its jumping power.

Therefore, the boy had relaxed somewhat earlier, not carefully considering his position, allowing the creature to pounce again.

Now he must demonstrate greater intelligence, finding the right moment to reach a higher location.

He observed the higher tree to his left front, then looked at his current position.

He then felt somewhat conflicted, uncertain which location would be more suitable for jumping. If he jumped poorly, he would easily fall.

*Roar roar roar…*

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger would not grant him time for consideration. It prepared to launch a new round of attacks.

“You’re far too impatient.”

The boy had originally intended to hurl his spear, but reconsidered.

If he missed, it would prove unfortunate, as he would need the weapon for defending against other Ferocious Beasts.

*Rustle rustle…*

*Splash splash…*

The sound of the boy’s jumping friction against leaves and the continuous rainfall added considerable tension to the current scenario.

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger leapt violently towards the boy. Upon missing, it immediately jumped towards another direction.

Intelligent, truly exceptionally intelligent. It had perfectly predicted the boy’s next landing location.

The boy dared not pause for a moment. After landing in the second location, he immediately jumped to another position.

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger would certainly not allow its prey to rest, also pursuing the third stopping location.

This sequence of actions occurred in one fluid motion, leaving the boy barely able to withstand it.

Were it not for his intense survival instinct driving him, he would likely have already abandoned the struggle.

The boy continuously jumped upwards four or five times before safely standing at a tree’s apex.

*Huff huff huff…*

The boy panted continuously. Though rain now fell heavily, his throat felt unbearably parched.

The continuous jumping and continuous panting had brought his entire state to its limit.

*Roar roar roar…*

The Long Toothed Four Eyed Tiger roared furiously, these roars expressing its frustration at losing prey that had been within grasp.

One could observe some confusion on its face, presumably not anticipating that this prey could run so effectively.

It had clearly predicted the prey’s escape route, yet the prey had still escaped.

This sensation proved extremely uncomfortable. Even Ferocious Beasts experienced this, particularly with prey that had been almost secured.

“Do you really need to chase me so desperately? What the Hell is happening!?” The boy finally dared to relax and pant heavily.

He felt he had been exceptionally unlucky recently, encountering Ferocious Beasts that were all extraordinarily intelligent.
