I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 835, Intimidating Sound

Su Bai walked through the lush green wheat fields, the wheat swaying as the wind moved through it.

“Shaman, this place will definitely yield lots of grain, right?” Yan Hua kept surveying this vast wheat field.

This massive farmland was planted almost entirely with wheat, with some sweet potatoes and potatoes planted at the edges.

These were all foods with strong satiety, all high-carbohydrate foods that could replenish the daily carbohydrates people needed.

“Of course, the food produced here will be enough for us to eat for a very long time.” Su Bai smiled.

The farmland here was an extremely large area, with an enormous amount of wheat planted. When the time came to harvest, it would truly be enough to feed several thousand people.

“Shaman, it’s just that we’re planting wheat in the middle of the forest. Won’t those Ferocious Beasts and beasts keep coming to destroy it?” Sha Lan worried.

Sha Lan was worried that with so much grain planted here, it would be terrible if those Ferocious Beasts destroyed it.

Because these crops still needed time to grow, even if the Growth Acceleration Shaman Technique was used.

“Shaman, should we arrange for some Warriors to be here to prevent those Ferocious Beasts from coming to cause destruction?” Yan Hua also asked.

“This is indeed something that needs attention, but having Warriors come patrol here every day isn’t very realistic either.” Su Bai furrowed his brow.

The crops weren’t fully grown yet, so there was no need to worry about those forest Ferocious Beasts and beasts coming to destroy them.

The concern would only be when the wheat had grown, and then being destroyed would be very unfortunate.

“Shaman, if we don’t arrange for Warriors to come temporarily, those farmers have no way to cope either.” Sha Lan looked at the farmers currently weeding.

They had their methods for cultivating crops, but they had absolutely no ability when it came to driving away Ferocious Beasts.

“Shaman, I can come patrol here every day to ensure this wheat grows safely.” Yan Hua immediately volunteered.

“You all have other things to do and need to train every day. If you came to patrol here daily, that wouldn’t be very realistic either.”

Su Bai raised his hand, indicating, and continued. “The only solution can only rely on these farmers.”

“Shaman, these farmers are powerless. They probably have no way to fight those Ferocious Beasts.” Sha Lan blinked her blue eyes.

This fresh vocabulary was something Sha Lan had just learnt yesterday, and today she was already applying it.

“We’re not having them directly face and fight those Ferocious Beasts. Of course we need to rely on wisdom.” Su Bai smiled.

He also knew these farmers definitely couldn’t compare with those Ferocious Beasts and beasts, but since they were managing the farmland here, they also needed to master certain skills.

“Does Shaman mean to give them longbows and recurve bows, letting them attack those Ferocious Beasts from a distance?” Sha Lan asked curiously.

This was all Sha Lan could think of, because the Flame Dragon Tribe had ranged weapons.

“That’s only part of it. Having them master these weapons immediately definitely isn’t realistic.” Su Bai looked into the distance, continuing. “We need to think of some methods to drive away these Ferocious Beasts, preventing them from approaching this farmland area first. That’s the most important thing.”

“Shaman, we can set up some traps around the farmland. This way we can capture those Ferocious Beasts in advance.” Yan Hua immediately suggested.

When Yan Hua was younger, she had followed Yan Jiao into the forest to set traps, and they had caught quite a few Ferocious Beasts back then.

“Right now the farmland surroundings are hung with many plants with very strong irritating smells. Just to be safe, we can hang more.”

Sha Lan thought for a moment, continuing: “Combined with setting traps, we should be able to take down quite a few Ferocious Beasts. Even if there are some that slip through the net, those farmers can respond in time.”

“What you two are saying is also a method, but we can also set up some large drums around the forest. We can beat the drums at intervals to produce sound.”

Su Bai blinked his black eyes, continuing. “More and more beasts will develop fear towards these unknown sounds, and won’t dare approach this part of the forest.”

He thought of this method mainly because this farmland was built within the city walls. The more ferocious Ferocious Beasts within the city walls were also beginning to be driven away one after another.

This was also work the Chieftain had to do every day, bringing quite a few Warriors into the forest to patrol daily.

If they encountered dangerous Ferocious Beasts, they would arrange for people to drive them out.

Because everywhere within the city walls would eventually become a city. Since it was to become a city, there couldn’t be any Ferocious Beasts hidden inside.

Otherwise, this wouldn’t benefit a Tribe’s development at all, and it would also make cultivating farmland around the area and building houses extremely difficult.

However, this task wasn’t an easy matter. Yan Jiao had already been taking skilled Totem Warriors out every day to clear the Ferocious Beasts.

It was just  fortunate that there were no other Tribes around the Flame Dragon Tribe, and Ancient Blood and King Blood Ferocious Beasts wouldn’t stay very close to where people lived.

Even if there were, it was only a very small number. The remaining Ferocious Beasts wouldn’t be too difficult to deal with. This was the only fortunate part of the task of driving away Ferocious Beasts.

Su Bai thought of this method based on the above reasons, because the remaining beasts and small Ferocious Beasts would be alert to some unknown sounds.

The sound produced by the drums was very deep. The sound produced by several drums simultaneously would also be very loud, enough to drive away some of the surrounding beasts and Ferocious Beasts.

“Shaman, but what if this method doesn’t work very well? Our crops will still be destroyed.” Sha Lan was still somewhat worried.

“The Chieftain’s task should be approaching its end. In the early stage, we just need to send some Warriors over to assist.” Su Bai continued walking forward, saying: “In the early stage, we’ll experiment first to see how effective it is. If the effect is good, we’ll execute it this way. If the effect isn’t good, we’ll think of another method.”

He actually didn’t dare guarantee it either, but combining the previous traps, plants with strong smells, and now the drum sounds plus weapons.

It seemed more or less they should be able to drive away some beasts or Ferocious Beasts, but they still needed to test it out.

“Understood.” Sha Lan’s clear voice rang out.
