I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 832, An Absurd Excuse

Lu Lin paused for quite a while, her mind racing rapidly before asking, “What if we come to exchange for each item regularly over a long period?”

“To discuss cooperation naturally means exchanging goods regularly over the long term. The question is, what is the quantity and how do we decide?” Su Bai asked.

He did not want to hear vague descriptions from the other party. Since this was negotiations on the basis of cooperation, everything needed to be clearly stated.

“The Flame Dragon Tribe’s wine is greatly loved by our Tribe. We intend to take one hundred jars at a time from you.” Lu Lin gritted her teeth, continuing, “We also very much like the perfume. We can also take one hundred bottles. Other goods would be roughly similar quantities.”

The figures she had stated was one they had deliberated over extensively. It was within their acceptable range.

Moreover, taking such large quantities of goods all at once, they were genuinely afraid everything would simply accumulate in their Tribe.

Because currently, fewer and fewer people were visiting the Spotted Deer Tribe’s market. They were worried that accumulating too much inventory with insufficient visitors for trade would be disastrous.

“Roughly one hundred of each type of goods, is that correct?” Su Bai brushed off his hands after finishing the orange.

“Yes. I wonder what you think, Shaman?” Lu Lin’s hands gripped together nervously.

She did not quite dare look directly at him now, afraid he might detect her anxious emotions.

Even though they had met once or twice before, seeing Su Bai’s face still made Lu Lin very nervous. Her heart still felt the same awe as before. She felt this wasn’t like negotiating with a Tribe’s Shaman at all. Rather, it felt like a conversation between two peers. However, the occasional aura of authority emanating from him also made her somewhat afraid.

In any case, this feeling was extraordinarily strange, though predominantly she felt tremendously nervous.

“According to what you’ve said, if you’re taking such quantities, I can reduce each type of goods by one bag of dried meat for you.”

Su Bai picked up a cup of tea, continuing. “That is, if one jar of wine requires five bags of dried meat, we’ll exchange it for four bags.”

Although the reduction seemed substantial at once, this was wholesale after all. The other party was taking large quantities, so naturally he should reduce the price somewhat.

“Really? You’ll truly reduce it by one bag of dried meat for us?” Lu Lin could barely believe it.

One must understand, one bag of dried meat could feed an ordinary person for two to three days.

“Yes. But, everything must proceed according to the quantities you’ve stated. If your future orders don’t maintain these quantities, we’ll naturally have to revert to collecting the same quantity of dried meat as before.” Su Bai emphasised.

He did not want any misunderstanding. Since they had come to negotiate cooperation, these matters needed to be clarified in advance.

“No problem. If you can reduce each type of goods by one bag of dried meat for us, Shaman, we’ll continue coming to the Flame Dragon Tribe to exchange for your goods.” Lu Lin nodded repeatedly.

She thought to herself that negotiations had finally succeeded. One could not underestimate reducing one bag of dried meat per item. Such small amounts accumulated become a very considerable quantity.

“Do you wish to take them in now? If so, I’ll directly arrange for people to prepare everything.” Su Bai asked.

“Yes, we do. Since, travelling here once also requires time.” Lu Lin said without hesitation.

“Good. In a moment, tell me what you want to get, and I’ll check whether the warehouse stock is enough.” Su Bai nodded.

“Alright. But, I hope you won’t expose this deal, Shaman. This way, our Central Market still has hope of continuing operations.” Lu Lin spoke earnestly.

“Oh? You hope others won’t know your goods came from us, is that correct?” Su Bai asked.

He found this rather interesting. He hadn’t expected the other party to make this request.

“Yes. After all, our market has operated for such a long time. Now, even the goods being exchanged there all come from your Flame Dragon Tribe…” Lu Lin paused for quite a while, continuing. “My Father probably doesn’t want others to know for the time being.”

However, she also felt this excuse was utterly absurd; receiving and trading using items from the Flame Dragon Tribe yet demanding the other party not reveal it.

“I don’t particularly mind either way. But, this is ultimately a fire that cannot be wrapped in paper. Everyone will eventually discover these goods came from our Flame Dragon Tribe.” Su Bai waved his hand.

This request meant nothing to him. Moreover, they would not really bother to go around discussing this matter anyway.

“Good. We’ll try to keep this secret as long as we can, as long as our market can continue operating.” Lu Lin immediately said.

“Sure. I agree to this request of yours.” Su Bai took a light sip of tea.

Lu Lin also noticed the cup of tea at the table’s edge. While displaying a grateful expression, she also picked up that cup of tea.

She first smelled the tea’s aroma, discovering the scent very fragrant, then slowly took a small sip.

Her golden eyes instantly widened dramatically. She had never drunk water like this before.

“This water tastes wonderful. I wonder if there’s anything to exchange for at the Central Market?” Lu Lin curiously asked.

She also wanted to get some tea to take back. Of course, she had no idea this was tea brewed from tea leaves.

She thought it was like wine, sold jar by jar. She wanted to exchange for a hundred jars or so to take back.

“This isn’t available yet. But, if you come again later, perhaps there will be some.” Su Bai smiled slightly.

“By the way, Shaman, last time I saw your Tribe had a great deal of salt. I wonder…” Lu Lin’s voice grew softer and softer as she spoke.

Because previously, the Flame Dragon Tribe had always exchanged for salt with the Spotted Deer Tribe. Later, when there was not much salt, the Flame Dragon Tribe had displayed an expression of great regret.

Now, the Central Market suddenly had so much salt. Inevitably this aroused some curiosity.

She also wondered whether they had gotten the salt from other Tribes and was considering whether exchanging with other Tribes might be more economical.

“This is salt produced by the Flame Dragon Tribe. Not gotten from other Tribes.” Su Bai explained.

He knew the salt in the Spotted Deer Tribe was traded from other Tribes. The reason it became increasingly scarce later on…

Most likely that Tribe had raised the value very high, or was unwilling to trade with the Spotted Deer Tribe anymore.

After all, the Spotted Deer Tribe’s market had operated for an extremely long time. Many people recognised only the Spotted Deer Tribe’s market. Consequently, many surrounding Tribes viewed the Spotted Deer Tribe with great disfavour, wishing nothing more than for this Tribe to disappear.

This naturally led to situations where they were unwilling to trade with the Spotted Deer Tribe, or raised values extremely high.

“The Flame Dragon Tribe produces its own salt? Is this really true?” Lu Lin’s eyes widened instantly.

This was tremendously shocking news. One must understand, the last time they had exchanged salt with them was before last year’s snow season.

In merely half a year, the Flame Dragon Tribe had already developed its own salt production. This was far too astonishing.
