Chapter 507: How to Awaken the Rinnegan? A Small Discussion on Methods

”The experimental subjects have matured sufficiently, and it has been a month since the first experiment. Normal clones have now entered old age, and in extreme cases, some may have even died. This means it’s time to begin the Eternal Mangekyo experiment.”

Kenichi sat in his laboratory.

Over a month had passed since the previous Eternal Mangekyo experiment.

During this time, Kenichi had been monitoring his experimental materials.

As of now, the earliest batch of clones used for the experiment had already grown old and frail.

One experimental clone had even died.

This somewhat relieved Kenichi.

Moreover, despite so much time passing, the eyes of the experimental subject who awakened the Eternal Mangekyo had shown no problems.

This proved Kenichi’s hypothesis was correct.

The Mangekyo Sharingan born from the fusion of a clone and an experimental subject could be used normally and would not be affected by the clone’s lifespan.

With this, Kenichi could begin his own experiment.

However, since so much time had passed, Kenichi’s own earliest clones, which had been made to serve as experimental subjects, had already died of old age.

Fortunately, Kenichi had made new clones earlier, and they had just reached adolescence, making them suitable for the experiment.

”It just feels weird, thinking it’s my own face.”

Kenichi murmured while touching his cheek.

Then he shook his head, casting these thoughts aside.

After that, Kenichi went to Amado’s laboratory, opened the metal plate, and retrieved his clone.

Once the clone appeared, Kenichi could not help scrutinizing it from head to toe.

Because it had been submerged in nutrient solution for a long time, the clone looked very pale, with fair and tender skin.

Other than that, it was similar to Kenichi.

Neither thin nor fat. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

However, its muscles were underdeveloped.

After all, this clone had been immersed in a nutrient tank since birth and had never had the chance to move around.

Kenichi was quite satisfied with the clone before him.

Although it lacked intelligence, all Kenichi needed were its eyes.

Kenichi then used the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, and his Shadow Clones bound his cloned self.

Since this clone was made from Kenichi’s current genes, there was no need for a genetic programming ritual.

Kenichi directly instructed his Shadow Clones to stimulate the clone’s Mangekyo awakening.

The entire process went smoothly, though the scene itself was rather sanity-draining.

At least, Kenichi thought so.

After all, seeing several versions of himself binding another version of himself for an experiment, while that other self wailed, felt truly bizarre.

However, Kenichi had no other choice.

If he did not use a clone, where would Kenichi find a younger or older brother?

He had no close blood-related brother available for such a thing, so he had to rely on himself.

The awakening of the Mangekyo went smoothly.

After his clone awakened the Mangekyo, Kenichi immediately acted and dug out its eyes.

Then, he waved his hand.

A Shadow Clone opened its mouth and spewed Fire Release, instantly incinerating the clone that had just emerged from the nutrient tank into ashes.

Kenichi held the Mangekyo Sharingan in his hand and examined it.

Then he lay down on the operating table, allowing his Shadow Clone to perform the Mangekyo Sharingan transplant surgery on him.

When Kenichi woke up, he felt a strange sensation in his eyes.

He opened his eyes and looked around.

Several of his Shadow Clones were sitting there chatting.

Seeing this, Kenichi dispelled the Shadow Clones.

Although Shadow Clones could explain, it was ultimately less convenient than recalling it himself.

So Kenichi quickly understood the situation.

”My eye transplant was successful, and I’ve now awakened the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. That’s good news. At least now I won’t have to worry about blindness when using my ocular ninjutsu. But as for the Rinnegan...”

Kenichi touched his eyes.

Previously, his vision had been blurry, especially when looking at distant objects.

At that time, Kenichi had known that his eyes were damaged from overusing the Mangekyo.

If he continued using it, this blindness would gradually worsen, eventually leading to complete blindness.

But now, Kenichi had solved this problem, and his blurry vision had naturally cleared.

Kenichi could now use his Mangekyo dojutsu without restraint.

However, Mangekyo dojutsu was not Kenichi’s only pursuit.

The Mangekyo was not the end.

There was still the Rinnegan.

And the Rinnegan also seemed to be categorized by rank, requiring step-by-step growth.

Kenichi actually did not want to continue developing in this manner.

As he had said before, this development path ultimately had an end.

That end was the end of the Otsutsuki Clan.

Members of the Otsutsuki Clan were almost what the strongest individuals in the Shinobi World aspired to become.

Yet even the Otsutsuki Clan still needed to cultivate Divine Trees to develop themselves.

This showed that the Otsutsuki Clan also had bottlenecks.

Moreover, if he continued developing this way, would he not just become a branch of the Otsutsuki Clan?

However, Kenichi currently had no other options.

Because he knew that in the current Shinobi World, there were not many paths to choose from.

He could only develop technology and ninjutsu simultaneously, then find a way to expand, allowing himself to become a qualified strong individual.

Relying purely on technology or purely on ninjutsu was not advisable.

It was best to combine both, so Kenichi would not have too many shortcomings.

This was what Kenichi was currently doing.

Thinking of this, Kenichi took out his experimental log.

Now that he possessed the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, it was time to begin researching how to evolve the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan into the Rinnegan.

Kenichi had some ideas regarding this.

According to his speculation, the processes by which Madara and Sasuke obtained the Rinnegan could be used as references.

From Madara’s perspective, his acquisition of the Rinnegan was somewhat accidental.

If he had not obtained Hashirama’s flesh, cells, and genetic information, Kenichi believed Madara would not have been able to obtain the Rinnegan.

Therefore, from Madara’s perspective, the method to obtain the Rinnegan was to acquire and fuse the genes of the Sage of Six Paths’ two sons.

Only then could the Rinnegan evolve.

”I do have Hashirama’s genes, and I also have Sasuke’s genes now, so I could awaken the Rinnegan. However, based on Madara’s situation, awakening the Rinnegan this way would be a very long process. Just look at how old Madara was when he awakened the Rinnegan.”

Kenichi lay on the operating table, staring at the ceiling light, deep in thought.

He was contemplating the possibility of awakening his Rinnegan.

The possibility was very high.

In fact, Kenichi could probably awaken the Rinnegan even while lying down.

After all, he now met the conditions Madara had possessed when awakening the Rinnegan.

So he only needed to wait for a period of time, and Kenichi would naturally awaken the Rinnegan.

The only question was how long this process would take.

Time was Kenichi’s most urgent need right now.

He did not know how long Jigen would remain hidden, nor did he know what choices Madara would make.

No matter what, once the two Tailed Beasts were revived, that would likely be when Madara forced him to begin the Eye of the Moon Plan.

What could he do then?

He could not keep stalling forever, could he?

Madara would have to give him the chance to stall.

So Kenichi did not want to wait too long.

And what if the time required for the Rinnegan to evolve naturally was too lengthy?

He could not just keep waiting, could he?

If he did not obtain the Rinnegan and instead encountered other Otsutsuki Clan members, would that not be a disaster?

So Kenichi felt that he still needed to find a way to accelerate the evolution of his eyes.

And if he wanted to achieve this, Kenichi thought the better material would be Sasuke’s method of obtaining the Rinnegan.

After all, Sasuke also had the Rinnegan, and his Rinnegan evolved faster, at least compared to Madara’s.

But how did Sasuke obtain the Rinnegan?

Kenichi’s memory was a bit hazy.

He only remembered that after Itachi died, Sasuke awakened the Eternal Mangekyo, and then experienced...

”Hmm?”

Kenichi scratched his head.

He seemed to recall that Sasuke’s ability to awaken the Rinnegan was apparently related to that old geezer, the Sage of Six Paths.

The Sage of Six Paths seemed to have helped Sasuke, allowing him to successfully awaken the Rinnegan.

He had also helped Naruto, granting him stronger power.

But was that not just cheating?

Kenichi did not have that cheat.

He...

”Wait.”

Kenichi thought of something.

His golden finger, which he had possessed since arriving in the Shinobi World, had not been used much until now.

Kenichi had not thought of using it for research.

But now seemed to be the time to start researching the Rinnegan.

Moreover, Kenichi remembered seeing in an edited video program that the Rinnegan had different colors.

Different colored Rinnegan had different abilities and different ocular power.

Purple seemed to be weaker, while yellow Rinnegan was stronger.

If that was the case...

[Current research subject: Antimatter particles]

[Research progress: 78%]

Kenichi glanced at the golden finger that had not appeared in a long time.

However, Kenichi then scratched his head.

He had been using this golden finger to research antimatter particles, intending to quickly create antimatter bombs in the future for greater destructive power.

But canceling it now would be a loss.

Kenichi felt somewhat conflicted, but then he came to terms with it.

He could just conduct the research himself.

It was not his first time, and this time, he was not without ideas.

Kenichi remembered that during the Fourth Great Ninja War, the new mode introduced was Six Paths Mode.

It was a very powerful mode.

Having this mode and not having it were two completely different things, causing Naruto and Sasuke’s combat power to increase rapidly.

Sasuke’s acquisition of the Rinnegan seemed to be related to Six Paths Mode.

It seemed that the Sage of Six Paths had done something, bestowing a unique power upon Sasuke, thereby catalyzing the birth of Sasuke’s Rinnegan and allowing Sasuke to enter his final form.

”In other words, to quickly awaken the Rinnegan, one needs to master Six Paths Power. And the essence of Six Paths Power should be the fusion of all chakra natures...”

Kenichi scratched his head.

Having the genes only meant having the key.

Having the key did not mean one could immediately open that door.

To use the power of Yin-Yang Release or Six Paths Power, one needed to thoroughly master all chakra nature transformations and integrate them into one to achieve the most fundamental effect.

Kenichi wondered if this so-called Six Paths Power represented a kind of chakra that fused natural energy and other nature transformations.

That was what became the so-called Six Paths Sage Mode and later Six Paths Power.

Essentially, this so-called Six Paths Power should be a synthesis of all chakra nature transformations.

This would explain why Kaguya and the Sage of Six Paths brothers mastered this ability and the Truth-Seeking Orbs.

Because they inherently mastered the most fundamental chakra.

But that kind of chakra was too difficult to learn.

Ordinary people might not be able to learn it.

Or perhaps they were not meant to.

In any case, what ordinary people could ultimately learn was chakra with various nature transformations.

However, Kenichi himself believed that the most plausible guess was that ordinary people did not possess the qualifications to learn it.

Because if ordinary people could learn it, then there would be no such thing as chakra nature aptitude.

Each ordinary person specialized in a different chakra nature.

And the Otsutsuki Clan might be most proficient in the original and most comprehensive chakra.

But ordinary people could not learn it, which was why it had been broken down for them to learn.

If this speculation was correct, then Kenichi believed that as long as he found a way to fuse all chakra, he could directly obtain the Rinnegan.

But was this idea feasible?

Kenichi himself did not know.

He could only say that he would try his best.
