Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 989: Chapter 988: Watching Their Hakai, That’s My Lost Youth, Zephyr’s Decision

The shout of Hakai reached Kaidou’s ears, and in that instant, Kaidou seemed to see himself in his youth.

During his time on Rocks’ ship, Charlotte Linlin taught him many things, which were indispensable parts of his growth process.

Having a mentor and not having one makes a world of difference in the speed of growth.

The people on Rocks’ ship didn’t speak of loyalty. With Rocks’ permission, conflict between crew members happened frequently, which was also an opportunity to enhance one’s strength. Surviving the battles and then repeating the process, as long as one doesn’t die, they would inevitably grow stronger.

Buts Charlotte Linlin was different; she genuinely taught.

From the day he boarded the ship, she advised Kaidou that Rocks was not trustworthy and told him he could come to ask her if anything happened. She later taught Kaidou many of her most prized things, including the Giant Race’s Elbaf’s Spear.

Elbaf is recognized globally as the strongest nation, with formidable strength; the techniques of the Giant Race are part of that foundation.

This technique was derived based on the physique of the Giant Race. Only a handful have the chance and talent to learn it, and thanks to Charlotte Linlin, Kaidou became one of them.

However, as time passed, Kaidou and Charlotte Linlin parted ways, and those experiences are destined to only reappear in memories.

After the founding of the Hundred Beasts Pirates, Kaidou shared his knowledge generously; he held nothing back for anyone he deemed worthy, whether it be skills or techniques.

Kaidou was undoubtedly the number one instructor of the Hundred Beasts.

Few could learn this technique; only King and Shaina managed to learn it smoothly and developed the combined technique of Hakai themselves.

Yes, Kaidou merely explained the concept to them and provided guidance from the sidelines; the rest was all up to Shaina and King themselves.

Performing this technique requires chemistry, and Kaidou couldn’t find a suitable partner and didn’t want to turn to Charlotte Linlin, so he had to use this method.

He actually wanted to teach Yamato. With Yamato’s talent, using this combined technique with him in the future would surely be more powerful than Charlotte Linlin.

But Yamato didn’t refuse when practicing alone; once she heard she had to practice it with Kaidou, she ran faster than Arcanine, instinctively rejecting the idea.

The thought of practicing a combined technique with Kaidou was enough to give Yamato chills, so it ended without further ado.

Magnificent waves roared out instantly, sweeping through everything before them toward the pirates of the Blackbeard Pirates, and the one to suffer first was Evil Wolf.

His size was enormous, but Elbaf’s Spear was meant for large targets, especially the combined Hakai.

East and Brogy’s combined Hakoku could easily destroy the Island-Eating Monster larger than a massive island; Evil Wolf’s size was truly insignificant.

The waves swept through everything ahead, boldly moving toward the distance.

The air was stirred into explosive sounds, forming a gale while Sanjuan Wolf, who was directly struck by the Hakai, was knocked airborne, crashing through the Navy Headquarters building before appearing on Marinfanto’s square.

”What... what is that thing? Bigger than Oars!”

”I’ve never heard of it, but what kind of thing knocked him down? What’s behind him?!”

”Is he wearing prison clothes? What kind of monster escaped from Impel Down?!”

Both the Navy and the pirates were shocked by Evil Wolf’s figure; he was too enormous. With that terrifying size, even if he did nothing, just standing on the ground would cause significant casualties.

But such a large giant was missing an arm, and he had already passed out, losing consciousness on the ground, which made people even more curious about the one who knocked him down.

...

King and Shaina put away their weapons, and before them lay nothing but dust continuously falling to the ground.

The blaze Shot released had long been extinguished, and the Blackbeard Pirates were buried under the debris.

The Hakai was not easily taken; even with halos and alliance buffs, Zoro, trying to take the combined Hakai of Kaidou and Charlotte Linlin head-on for a second, resulted in his entire skeleton shattering, putting him in a near-death state.

The Red Lion pirate group was even wiped out by East and Brogy’s combined Hakoku.

Burgess and Doc Q, having weaker strengths themselves, directly died under King and Shaina’s combined Hakai, leaving others in a state of severe injury. Had Sanjuan Wolf’s massive size not absorbed the brunt of Hakai’s edge, the others would have suffered more severely.

After all, the human body is the world’s strongest defense; from Hakai and Akainu’s Meigo to ordinary bullets and slashes, the human body could always withstand all of it.

...

”Wugorogoro—truly a sight to behold, feels like my old self is rejuvenated.... That damn bastard, disturbing my battle!”

Thinking of this, Kaidou suddenly harbored resentment towards Blackbeard. If it weren’t for this guy interfering with his fight, he should have been enjoying a lively battle now.

Meanwhile, Sengoku and Zephyr had not logged off just yet. This period was enough for Sengoku to catch his breath, standing up again to look in Kaidou’s direction.

”Hundred Beasts Kaidou... This guy’s threat has surpassed Whitebeard...”

Younger than Whitebeard, able to fly freely, acting recklessly, Kaidou’s threat level was soaring in Sengoku’s eyes.

Originally, Kaidou gave outsiders a hint of negotiability, the transactions of the Hundred Beasts leading the higher-ups to feel this crew was stable.

But Kaidou’s behavior told Sengoku all that was fake.

”We need to find a way to keep him here... Letting this madman return to the sea will mean we’ll have no chance in the future.

Old partner, can you still fight?”

”I have no problem, but your body... that impact wasn’t minor, I might not be able to look after you afterwards; damn Blackbeard, everything is that guy’s big trouble...”

Thinking of Blackbeard, Sengoku couldn’t help but curse too; the sneak attack on him was one thing, but according to Magellan’s report, without Blackbeard, these prisoners wouldn’t have been able to escape on a large scale.

Moreover, without Blackbeard capturing Ace, Strawberry might not have died, and the war at the top would have been meaningless; the World Government was basically played by Blackbeard.

”Don’t underestimate me, I was an original Admiral too.”

Looking at the shattered Marinfanto, Zephyr’s fighting spirit seemed to reignite, and while Sengoku wasn’t noticing, Zephyr pulled out a sealed jar and inserted it into the shredder on his right arm.

The jar was filled with an unknown liquid, containing a strangely colored rock, which emitted a faintly visible eerie purple light under its illumination.

This wasn’t any ordinary rock but one of the prohibited items controlled by the World Government—Explosive Rock.
