The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

When Sun Qingning hurried over, Fu Yu followed Liu Yuqing to the front hall.

In the waiting area, a young couple was sitting on chairs, chatting intimately with their arms around each other.

At this time, the restaurant was bustling with business, and the waiting area was filled with many people.

When Liu Yuqing brought Fu Yu, who was in a chef’s uniform, over, it immediately drew quite a bit of attention.

”Hello, this is the chef of our restaurant.”

Liu Yuqing directly greeted the young woman.

The young woman was visibly taken aback, looking at Fu Yu with some surprise.

”Hello, my surname is Fu.”

Fu Yu introduced himself.

The young woman quickly stood up, asking in confusion, ”Oh, what’s going on? Is there something wrong?”

The young man sitting beside her also stood up.

Fu Yu explained, ”I heard from the person taking orders that you previously ordered a grilled squid at our restaurant, but the taste wasn’t quite what you expected. Today you wanted to try a new flavor, so I’d like to discuss it with you in detail to find out what kind of flavor you’re looking for, and hopefully satisfy you this time.”

The young woman initially seemed a bit unhappy, with not a trace of a smile, but now looking at the polite and handsome young chef standing in front of her, her mood inexplicably lightened a bit.

So, she smiled somewhat apologetically, ”Have I caused you any trouble? Actually, I once had grilled squid on Central Street, and it was especially delicious. I’ve been longing to have it again, but circumstances haven’t allowed, and I’ve never had the chance to go back. I heard the grilled seafood here is authentic, so I thought I’d try my luck.”

Fu Yu nodded, ”You’re too kind. However, could you please describe in more detail what the grilled squid on Central Street was like?”

The young woman quickly said, ”It was a whole squid on a skewer, very crispy and aromatic, quite spicy. But the chili they used was especially good. The owner said it was shipped from Chongqing, and it was spicy on the tongue but didn’t upset the stomach.”

As the young woman described, Fu Yu took the opportunity to check the short video appearing above her head.

Indeed, it was a whole squid grilled on a skewer, wrapped in some packaging paper, a large squid with cuts on both sides, looking like it was fried after being coated in batter.

Obviously, grilling a squid directly wouldn’t achieve the effect of being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Fu Yu had guessed it was coated in batter; he just wasn’t sure of the batter’s effect.

Now it seemed this squid had little to do with grilling; it was completely a fried large squid.

However, the specific taste still needed clarification, as the video from the young woman’s perspective only showed the food’s appearance.

Fu Yu guided her by asking, ”And the taste? Could you describe it specifically?”

The young woman thought carefully, ”It was very spicy and flavorful, maybe with some sesame? Anyway, it had a barbecue taste, but I can’t really describe it.”

As the young woman recalled, the video became closer and clearer.

The fried squid was brushed with sauce that looked like cumin powder or some kind of barbecue seasoning.

Fu Yu asked another question, ”Could you tell me where on Central Street you had this grilled squid?”

The young woman blurted out, ”It was at a small stall on the street where they sell Madier ice cream bars.”

Fu Yu immediately understood!

The fried squid sold at a small stall would definitely use ordinary barbecue seasoning.

The flavor was spicy, making it distinctive; besides, with enough spiciness, customers wouldn’t focus too much on other seasonings in detail.

Normal seasoning would suffice.

Fu Yu was quite confident about the barbecue sauces he used regularly.

Presumably, the grilled squid he made last time, aside from the grilling method differing from what the young woman wanted, should still have matched her taste in flavor.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have specifically come back to try again.

Fu Yu nodded and politely said, ”Alright, our kitchen will promptly prepare your dish. Please wait a moment.”

After saying this, he turned and headed back to the kitchen.

Liu Yuqing quickly followed him.

As they walked a distance, Liu Yuqing curiously asked, ”Chef Fu, can you make the grilled squid she mentioned?”

Fu Yu nodded, ”Yeah, she was very detailed; I should be able to replicate it.”

Liu Yuqing’s eyes widened immediately.

But...

It seemed like the young woman didn’t really say much just now, did she?

Wasn’t it the same thing she had told herself before?

While talking, they reached the front desk.

Coincidentally, a person taking orders led customers over to the front desk to handle something.

The expression of the order taker was somewhat anxious, with furrowed brows.

The two customers following were a couple in their thirties.

They looked at each other angrily as if ready to argue at any moment!

The order taker reached the front desk and said to the cashier, ”Sister Wang, do you still have the dining order records from last night? These customers want to use the previous order as a guide for setting up a table.”

The cashier was taken aback, ”That would have to be checked with finance. I don’t have it here.”

The order taker, hearing this, hurriedly said, ”It has to go to finance?”

The cashier nodded but then remembered something and immediately said, ”Accountant Xin is on leave today. To find yesterday’s order, you might have to wait until tomorrow.”

The woman immediately became upset, ”Huh? Until tomorrow? Can’t you think of a way?”

The man beside her tried to persuade her, ”If we don’t have it, let’s forget it! After all, it’s just a meal; just order a couple of specialty dishes randomly!”

The woman got even angrier, glaring and saying, ”Why forget it! Oh, when you brought someone else here for dinner, you ordered a table full of good dishes. But with me, you just want to dismiss it with two random dishes? How can you have the nerve!”

The man’s face turned ashen, and his tone became agitated, ”Who did I take out for dinner? That was a business meal, reimbursed by the company. Now it’s us coming here to eat, spending our own money. If you’re not worried about it, I am!”

The woman’s eyes burned with anger, ”Oh, you’re so capable, using public money to please women. How talented you are!”

The man, upon hearing this, also got very angry, ”When have I ever used public money to please women? I told you, it was with clients! I’ve never done anything to betray you, but you... I don’t even want to say!”

The man, his hands shaking with anger, wanted to argue his point but swallowed his words upon seeing the crowd around him.

No matter what, family disgrace should not be aired in public.

Especially as a man, something like this is utterly humiliating, and better to suffer in silence than let outsiders know.

No matter what the issue, they should be resolved behind closed doors at home!
