The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

When the waiter left with the cooked dish, Fu Yu and Liu Zhangpeng appeared calm, but they were both somewhat unsure inside.

They were both worried that Shen the Third might prefer the original cooking style of Liu Family Cuisine.

After all, though Fu Yu’s soft and glutinous sauce duck was also tasty, it was different from the taste of Liu Family Cuisine.

After some internal conflict, the two of them tacitly decided to ignore it.

Anyway, the dish was already on the table, and thinking more about it wouldn’t help.

Now, with only the two of them handling the kitchen, and orders constantly coming in from the front, they first had to handle the work at hand, as for anything else...

They would deal with things as they came.

At this point, they had done everything they could, and they had done their best.

Maybe... if Shen the Third found the taste agreeable, wouldn’t that solve everything?

In the kitchen, Fu Yu and Liu Zhangpeng were on edge.

At the entrance of the private dining room, Zhang Conglin peeked inside.

The reason he hadn’t left after serving the dishes was that he was worried Shen the Third might suddenly cause trouble.

This was someone even the boss had to respect, wealthy and influential, not someone you could afford to offend.

However...

Watching as Shen the Third ate two pieces of duck meat, he seemed relatively satisfied?

Having tried both dishes and not calling the waiter specifically to give feedback, there shouldn’t be any problems, right?

Zhang Conglin stayed at the door for a few more minutes, seeing Shen the Third quietly enjoying his meal before he turned and left.

After worrying for a while, Fu Yu put the matter out of his mind.

After all, his previous actions were merely to salvage the situation, and whether it succeeded or not was up to luck.

Right now, the most crucial thing was to work with Liu Zhangpeng to efficiently finish the kitchen work and swiftly handle the incoming order slips.

At this moment, another waiter came from the front to deliver an order slip.

Liu Zhangpeng took it, glanced at it, and saw that it was from a customer at the revolving bar, who only ordered two dishes.

He was about to discuss the division of work with Fu Yu when his phone rang.

Shen Yulong had been trying to contact the boss, Liu Yunong, but she wasn’t answering, so he was anxious and eager to get back quickly, calling the restaurant every now and then to check on the situation.

Liu Zhangpeng truthfully reported the situation in the restaurant.

Hearing that Fu Yu’s improved version of the soft and glutinous sauce duck had been served, Shen Yulong just offered a few words of comfort to Liu Zhangpeng over the phone.

After hanging up, Shen Yulong couldn’t help pressing his temples, feeling a headache coming on.

What worried him the most now was whether Fu Yu’s so-called soft and glutinous sauce duck would get Shen the Third’s approval.

If not, the people in the restaurant wouldn’t be able to solve it.

Thus, he had to hurry back!

Thinking of this, Shen Yulong urged the driver to speed up, while he continued trying to contact the boss, Liu Yunong.

Fu Yu, busy cooking the sauce crispy meat, didn’t notice his phone suddenly ringing.

Sauce crispy meat is a semi-prepared dish.

First, clean the skinless pork belly, slice it thinly, mix with red fermented bean curd and honey, and marinate for 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Coat the flavored pork belly with cornstarch, air dry, wrap in film, and freeze for 4 hours.

When a customer orders, just take the frozen slices for simple cooking.

Fu Yu had cooked this dish before and was quite adept at it.

He placed the slices into salad oil heated to fifty percent, deep frying them gently until cooked, then took them out.

When the oil reached sixty to seventy percent heat, he placed the slices back, deep frying them gently until crisp, drained oil, and plated them.

Served with cucumber strips, onion shreds, sweet bean sauce, and steamed pancakes, the dish was ready to be served.

The sweet bean sauce used at Shangshi Private Kitchen was homemade, with both ingredients and proportions managed by the main branch’s head chef.

The branches used sweet bean sauce directly sent from the main branch, ready to be served.

Liu Zhangpeng couldn’t praise their secret sweet bean sauce enough.

Even though it was just sweet bean sauce, it was different from the commercially available ones, more aromatic and flavorful.

Seeing Liu Zhangpeng’s proud and satisfied expression, Fu Yu silently wiped the sweet bean sauce he accidentally got on his hand.

[Sweet Bean Sauce 500g, White Sugar 150g, Sesame Oil 50g... Mix evenly, put in a container, wrap in film, steam on high heat for 40 minutes, and mix in 50g of honey.]

He raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked at the recipe for the sweet bean sauce.

Though it was called homemade sweet bean sauce, it was simply a slight improvement on the original sauce.

However, Fu Yu didn’t underestimate Liu Family Cuisine’s cooking methods because of this.

Just from the sauce crispy meat, Fu Yu learned two cooking tips.

For instance, air drying the slices was mainly to remove excess moisture and oil to ensure they became crispy and tasty when fried.

Additionally, freezing after drying was not only convenient for large-scale production and storage but also made the final dish more tender and crisp.

These were tips that were hard to master just by self-study and experimentation.

Even though it was just cooking a semi-prepared dish, Fu Yu felt he had learned a lot.

The sauce crispy meat, once cooked, was carried away by the waiter.

Fu Yu habitually pulled out his phone to check the time and found a new message.

It was from Liu Yuqing.

During the day, Fu Yu had sent a greeting message to Liu Yuqing but hadn’t received a reply.

He quickly opened it and found that Liu Yuqing had sent back three messages in a row.

[Sorry, just saw the message, I’m okay, just a bit of a cold and fever, but now the fever’s gone.]

[How did you know I was sick?]

[Where are you? Oh well, oh well, busy person! I’ll take another day off tomorrow, see you at work the day after tomorrow!]

Fu Yu was stunned; these seemed like normal replies.

But...

Why did he have the feeling that Liu Yuqing was a bit angry?

And the feeling seemed disturbingly strong.

He reread the last message, organized his words, and quickly replied: [Alright, I’ll treat you to a meal when you’re at work!]

Liu Yuqing immediately replied: [Okay!]

Seeing this message, Fu Yu relaxed; with an ”okay” thrown in, it should be fine.

Fu Yu smiled thinly, putting away his phone and continuing his work.

At the same time, Liu Yuqing, with a cheerful smile, exited the message interface and looked up to see her sister frowning sleepily as she answered her phone, ”Sorry, the phone was on silent, just saw the message. What’s up? Is there something going on at the restaurant?”
