The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Casually taking the menu, Fu Yu was slightly surprised!

The restaurant is promoting a new front of house manager?

Previously, it was mentioned that once the new extension is renovated, both the front and back of house would definitely have to hire new staff.

Didn’t expect that they’d even be recruiting at the management level.

At this time, Sun Qingning, who was constantly being watched by Zhao Meng to do work, took the opportunity when Zhao Meng went to the storeroom and also came over: ”Hey! I heard that after the New Year, the new store can officially be put into use?”

Liu Yuqing nodded: ”Yes, all the renovations are completed now. Once the paint on the walls is dry, we’ll paste the wallpaper, install various equipment and furniture, and it can be officially used.”

”This time, hiring a new manager for the front of house is because the boss is planning to revamp here too, expanding the ordering area. Besides fresh seafood, they’re also planning to set up an ordering cabinet. Online, there are now craftsmen specializing in making various food models. By then, they can directly make models of our restaurant’s signature dishes to display for customers, saving order time and improving order processing efficiency.”

Fu Yu nodded after hearing it.

If that’s the case, then in the future, the store here would be divided into three zones directly.

Ordering area, dining area, and kitchen.

As the store expands, we indeed need to appropriately increase staff.

But this is also a good thing. After all, the increased investment in the ordering area can better promote the ordering rate of customers, which is also beneficial for the kitchen side.

Qianlima seems to be developing quite well now, business is booming, and customer sources are stable.

But if there is a chance to rise to a higher level, surely it’s something that everyone would be happy about.

We must know that the competition in the catering industry is very fierce now; various innovative restaurants emerge endlessly. Often, as soon as a dish starts to gain popularity online, someone locally will immediately follow the trend and hire a chef from out of town.

The local population is stable, and the customer source only so many. With various new stores diverting them, the operating pressure on existing old stores is actually quite significant.

Qianlima, this century-old brand, looks quite trendy, but the innovative dishes are somewhat keeping up with the times, and development in terms of maintaining the status quo.

However, these are not what these workers are concerned about.

Busy throughout the noon.

By the afternoon, when everyone in the kitchen finally got some time to have a belated lunch, news from the front of house came again.

Sun Qingning said mysteriously: ”The new service staff in the front of house are really lucky this time! As long as they complete a month, they will become permanent employees directly! Not only the dining area, but the ordering area as well!”

...

At the same time, in the front of house meeting room.

Gao Wenjing sat there; today she was the ”main character.”

This might be the last time she’ll hold a meeting for everyone here.

The title of front of house supervisor is likely to change to Deputy Supervisor Gao.

Today’s meeting was mainly about the future job arrangements for front of house staff, as well as specific allocations for ordering and dining areas for order processing in the future.

The store hired a professional management talent, and the boss Dong Jun Tian is now determined to expand the store and improve operations.

Previously, Yao Shi wished he could advocate every day, urging him to pay more attention to the abilities and qualities of the management staff in the store. If possible, it would be best to hire suitable talents at high salaries to help manage.

At that time, Dong Jun Tian always had various reasons to brush it off.

This time, suddenly something changed about him.

However, the partition management of the front of house also means forming a competitive relationship similar to the back of house.

Whether in terms of personnel management or customer reception, people in the two areas will develop a mode of comparison.

Even if everyone still gets the commission based on daily sales collectively, being compared and the competition is inevitable.

For those managing, the people under them are just like the customers in the store - they’re all resources reflecting competitiveness and ability, methods to gain face.

Retaining capable people means you have a good opportunity in management, allowing for some ease in daily work, even more leisure time.

Gao Wenjing looked at everyone and said: ”Today we held an impromptu meeting to explain something to everyone.”

Those attending the meeting were all senior staff from the store; a few others were staying at their posts, on standby.

Yet, even if not everyone was present, the meeting room was a bit cramped.

Thus, the more senior and older ones sat in chairs, while the rest stood against the wall, neatly forming a circle.

Gao Wenjing said: ”Starting tomorrow, we will be dividing the front of house into zones. The ordering area and dining area will be managed separately. A new supervisor will take over tomorrow; I will oversee the ordering area in the future, and the new supervisor will manage the dining area. Dai Li, you must ensure you coordinate well with the new leader’s work arrangements and shifts...”

”Regarding personnel positions, we’ll also be making adjustments. Those outstanding in ability can take positions in the ordering area. Besides, the boss has decided to separately assign someone in the ordering area solely responsible for takeaway orders. I’ll discuss specific personnel assignments and salary packages with everyone in detail later.”

Adding an ordering area means the jobs in the front of house need to be rearranged.

The ordering area has always been the highest commission, highest salary position in the front of house.

Because there are clear requirements for the staff’s outward appearance, the service staff in the dining area have always just envied it without a chance to change positions.

But now, from what Gao Wenjing is saying, the ordering area needs to add more staff, and those in the dining area, if they meet conditions, can also strive for this opportunity?

Everyone was somewhat hopeful about whether their job might change?

The dining area staff hoped to have a chance to move to the ordering area.

Whereas some in the ordering area were a bit nervous.

Creating a separate takeaway ordering area?

How will the commission be calculated in the future?

No matter how the sales of takeaways are, it’s definitely less than in-dining consumption.

But handling takeaways just involves placing orders and passing them to the kitchen, without much customer interaction needed.

The work is lighter; can this money be the same as normal customer reception?

Gao Wenjing continued: ”From now on, some adjustments will be made to everyone’s work; let me explain.”

”Tentatively, Li Ying, Xiao Xiao from the dining area... the above four will move to the ordering area. Food runner LuLu, and Li Leqi will be moved to private room service positions. Once the store hires new staff, you will proceed with the reassignment officially.”

This allocation being laid out suddenly made the people below envious.

Didn’t expect food runners could get a chance to move to private room service positions.

You must know food runners have a tough job, running errands back and forth, carrying plates too.

Unlike the service staff, who can stand by the private room door, responding only when needed and sneaking a rest against the wall when not needed.

Those whose names were mentioned instantly broke into smiles.

Others couldn’t help but feel envious and reflective.
