The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The Liu Family was joyfully chatting and tasting the various dishes on the dining table.

The waiter knocked and entered the room, bringing in a newly ordered dish of crispy yellow.

At just a glance, Brother Liu clapped his hands with a smile: ”Yes! This is the dish!”

The crispy yellow dish was truly unique. The flat diamond-shaped pieces puffed up, appearing large, coated with a layer of transparent syrup, piling up in a golden stack. It looked beautiful even when placed disorderly without a special arrangement.

The aroma was both fragrant and sweet, while the taste was crispy and delicious.

Brother Liu spun the table, presenting the dish of crispy yellow first to Eldest Sister Liu.

The Liu siblings were harmonious. Since their parents passed away, Eldest Sister Liu has been the most respected and loved in the family.

The elderly lady picked up a piece of egg with chopsticks, pulling out a long string of dense sugar, and couldn’t help but say with a smile: ”The syrup coating is authentic, look at this sugar string, how long it is!”

Praising it aloud, the elderly lady dipped the egg in water to break the sugar string, then took her time to savor it.

Meanwhile, she turned the table, letting others taste it as she sighed: ”It’s been so many years since I last had this dish, and it’s still the same taste!”

Listening to her sister and brother’s endless praise for the dish, Liu Sanmei grew increasingly curious and eagerly picked up a piece as the plate came to her.

One bite and her eyes lit up.

She had no idea what the crispy yellow was made of, but it tasted fragrant, crispy, and sweet, with a particularly novel texture.

After finishing one piece, she picked up another, deliberately biting just half of it to observe closely.

”This dish is quite interesting. What’s it made from? I can taste the egg, but what else?”

Liu Sanmei asked curiously.

Brother Liu couldn’t answer, as he never stepped into the kitchen, only enjoying the food.

However, Eldest Sister Liu laughed and said: ”It’s made from eggs. It tastes great at first, but eating too much makes it a bit greasy. You all better taste it while it’s hot, or it won’t be the same when it cools down!”

The plate of crispy yellow seemed plenty, but after everyone in the family had a round, there was barely anything left.

Li Linlin peeked stealthily into the private room, relieved to see the crispy yellow dish devoured clean.

She quietly withdrew to the corridor and exhaled with relief, saying to Wang Meng: ”The guests are very satisfied, so this matter has passed.”

Hearing this, Wang Meng finally felt her heart settle: ”That’s great!”

Li Linlin couldn’t help but gently advise: ”Next time you encounter such a situation, be more careful. We were lucky this time; who knows what the outcome would be otherwise!”

Wang Meng nodded with lingering fear: ”I’ll keep it in mind, rest assured, Sister Li. I’m really sorry, it was all because of my oversight...”

Li Linlin was mild-mannered and kind-hearted, which is why the head waiter specifically assigned the newcomer for her mentorship.

She interrupted Wang Meng’s self-blame, reminding: ”Alright, consider this matter closed. Just pay attention in the future.”

Wang Meng nodded gratefully.

The tension between them eased a bit.

Wang Meng, normally straightforward, felt relieved after the incident and began chatting freely.

She marveled to Li Linlin: ”Chef Fu is really a good person! And his culinary skills are so impressive!”

She recounted her earlier experience in the kitchen in detail.

Mentioning how Yao Yihang scolded her yet refused to help, she couldn’t help but mutter: ”During training this morning, I thought Chef Yao was quite amiable, but who knew he’d be so strict! But Chef Zhao, who seemed hard to talk to, was actually very kind. He not only gave me advice but also suggested offering dishes to the guests to smooth things over.”

Being new, Wang Meng was not familiar with the staff at the restaurant.

Li Linlin thus quietly pointed out: ”Although Chef Zhao may have a bad temper, he treats others very well and is warm-hearted. And as for Chef Fu, there’s no need to say more; if you have any issues, he’s the one to ask for help. As for Chef Gu, be cautious with your words and actions around him...”

Even Wang Meng, though carefree, understood a bit more after this conversation.

She nodded, grateful: ”I understand, thank you, Sister Li.”

After this exchange, Wang Meng felt closer to Li Linlin and spoke more casually.

”Today’s incident really scared me! If it weren’t for Chef Fu, I wouldn’t know what to do!”

”How is Chef Fu so great? Handsome, skilled in cooking, and kind! He’s my idol from now on!”

...

Completely oblivious to her newfound fan.

Fu Yu went to help at Shangshi Private Kitchen as usual that evening.

Liu Yunong was very pleased with her highly talented and diligent apprentice.

The entire kitchen staff gradually started to respect Fu Yu more.

Fu Yu felt very comfortable there, as he could learn culinary skills and taste Liu Family Cuisine that he’d never even seen outside. Coming to learn cooking here every night became the happiest part of his day.

The next day was his day off, and Fu Yu got up early and headed to the Music Restaurant.

He had heard news a couple of days ago about a new chef named Feng at the Music Restaurant.

Fu Yu couldn’t get any detailed information from Zhang Zhen about who this person was.

You couldn’t expect anything different from Zhang Zhen, who was known to be diplomatic and experienced!

Getting him to speak candidly about others was out of the question.

In the Music Restaurant kitchen, people had arrived one after another.

The new chef was Feng Hai, in his early forties, bearing the title of head chef, but essentially taking on the role of the main chef.

Originally, the kitchen was managed by Chef Liu and Chef Lin, working collaboratively with Zhang Zhen. Even if the restaurant wanted to promote another main chef, it should have been from among the existing head chefs.

However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, the owner suddenly hired a new main chef.

This sudden move took everyone by surprise.

Initially, there was a lot of private speculation among the staff about what made Feng Hai extraordinary. After a few days of interaction, it became clear that Feng Hai was skilled in authentic Hunan cuisine.

The owner wanted to expand the restaurant’s culinary offerings, and Feng Hai’s expertise perfectly fit the owner’s vision.

On his third day at work, Feng Hai impressively demonstrated his skill with the wok, simultaneously handling two woks with equally strong arms.

While others could only prepare one dish in the same time frame, he could complete two, with not a single difference in color, smell, or taste.

Just this skill alone was enough to astonish everyone, and he also cooked authentic Hunan cuisine.

Even if there was any dissatisfaction among the staff, no one dared show it on the surface.
