The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Unlike the current wave after wave of young staff coming and going like an assembly line.

They, as the veteran employees who joined formally when the music restaurant was preparing to open, already have a deep affection for the restaurant.

Their effort and initiative to maintain customers and strive to improve the restaurant’s sales performance are truly unmatched by the new staff who are just here to get by on the base salary.

To be honest, Li Xintong wasn’t confident at first.

Even though Fu Yu stepped up to help take the order,

rumor has it that this dish is extremely difficult to make, and no one else in the kitchen can cook it.

This left her unable to feel reassured.

But there was no choice, the customer specifically asked for this Immortal Fish, and she couldn’t think of a better solution than to let Fu Yu try it.

Unexpectedly, Fu Yu successfully cooked the Immortal Fish.

And even received the customer’s flattering praise.

This made Li Xintong’s impression of Fu Yu even better.

Conversely, Li Xintong’s impression of the newly hired Hunan Cuisine Chef Feng Hai greatly diminished.

Originally thought to be someone impressive, it turns out his cooking skills are just average.

Said to be a chef specializing in Hunan cuisine, but can’t even make the modest Immortal Fish.

In fact, the skills of the kitchen staff are judged by the front hall service staff.

Everyone has a measure in their mind.

Everyone knows who’s who and what they are like.

Moreover, if anything happens in the restaurant, the news travels fast.

The staff’s biggest pastime after their hard work every day is exchanging various rumors to lighten their mood with gossip.

The incident about the customer ordering the Immortal Fish, and Master Chef Feng Hai being unable to cook it, only for Fu Yu to step in and save the day, quickly spread among everyone.

The front hall staff’s gossip about the chefs is like a cat smelling fish.

Qu Jing, who is relatively well-informed, is eager to share the details of this event with her close friends.

This topic is too inviting for a chat.

Not to mention Fu Yu, who has always been in the spotlight for being handsome and capable.

The very fact that the newly hired Master Chef Feng Hai can’t cook a signature Hunan dish is enough to be a talking point for everyone.

Discussion was rife in the front hall.

In the kitchen, Zhang Zhen couldn’t help but praise Fu Yu again.

He looked at Fu Yu with admiration, ”Chef Fu, you’re really something. Who would’ve thought you could even cook Hunan cuisine? Is there anything you can’t do?”

Fu Yu smiled slightly, ”Just a coincidence.”

Zhang Zhen now likes Fu Yu more and more.

He had noticed from the beginning that Fu Yu was no ordinary person.

Who knew he would be this amazing?

How many times has he jumped in to save the day now?

With such exquisite cooking skills, such good looks, and such a humble and likable personality, really... if it weren’t for my daughter still being in high school and my only sister long married, I would definitely...

What a pity.

This time happened to be when the kitchen was receiving the most orders.

Zhang Zhen didn’t disturb Fu Yu’s work any further and turned to head back to his own station.

Passing by Feng Hai’s station, Zhang Zhen greeted him amiably, ”Chef Feng, busy?”

Feng Hai had just finished a grand meal order and was now taking individual orders with others.

Individual orders usually require cooperation from multiple people and are less urgent, so Feng Hai also relaxed, smiling to Zhang Zhen, ”Just finished one.”

Zhang Zhen quickly said, ”Great job, handling a grand meal order is the toughest.”

Feng Hai smiled, ”Yes, fortunately Fu Yu was here today. If he hadn’t helped cook the Immortal Fish, we might not have managed that table. Plus, if he hadn’t taken the order, I wouldn’t have seen the final product. Fu Yu is truly amazing!”

Zhang Zhen nodded in agreement, ”Indeed, it’s my first time seeing the Immortal Fish, too. I had only heard about it before, never thought someone among us could actually make it.”

Feng Hai couldn’t help but inquire, ”Chef Zhang, I heard Fu Yu apprenticed under the well-known Chef Liu Yunong?”

This wasn’t a secret.

Zhang Zhen nodded candidly, ”Yes, you heard right?”

Feng Hai smiled and asked, ”Just asking, by the way, Fu Yu mentioned his master is Zhao Meng? Which establishment is this Master Zhao from? I honestly haven’t heard much about him.”

Zhang Zhen was taken aback. He didn’t expect Fu Yu to claim Zhao Meng as his master.

After all, compared to the famous Liu Yunong, a regular chef like Zhao Meng is really not something to boast about.

But because of this, it made Fu Yu seem very righteous.

Zhang Zhen explained with a smile, ”Oh, Zhao Meng is the head chef at Qianlima Restaurant. When Fu Yu first started, he worked under him.”

Feng Hai was taken aback, the head chef at Qianlima Restaurant?

Fu Yu worked at Qianlima?

And worked under the head chef?

This is too... unexpected.

Being able to apprentice under Liu Yunong, how could he still assist others as an assistant chef?

But judging from Zhang Zhen’s expression, it didn’t seem like a joke.

What’s going on?

Feng Hai couldn’t understand but wanted to ask more, while Zhang Zhen was eager to get back to work. He gave Feng Hai a friendly pat on the shoulder, ”I had something come up unexpectedly this morning and was worried the kitchen couldn’t handle it, but you all did excellently!”

Feng Hai quickly and modestly replied, ”Oh, it’s nothing, mainly because Chef Liu and Chef Lin are experienced, and I’m new here and don’t know much, just relying on them bringing me along.”

”But rest assured, Chef Zhang, as you know, I’m usually meticulous, always doing what I can and never pretending to be capable of things I can’t.”

”I always strive to do my job well, and firmly avoid causing trouble for others.”

After saying this, Feng Hai smiled politely, ”Chef Zhang, if there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to work.”

Zhang Zhen couldn’t help but take another look at Feng Hai, responding, ”Alright.”

While laughing inwardly.

Looks are indeed deceiving!

Feng Hai has quite a thick skin.

If it were someone else, they might be at least a bit embarrassed by this.

But Feng Hai seemed calm.

Zhang Zhen thought Feng Hai was quite someone, removing his prior impression of him.

And that day, the incident where Fu Yu saved the day again by cooking a supposedly long-lost Hunan dish spread instantly.

All the staff at the music restaurant soon knew about this event.

The reason being that Qu Jing eagerly shared the story with her close friends in the staff.

And the staff retold it vividly to their other friends.

The impression of Fu Yu, this young, handsome, and highly skilled chef, was very positive among everyone in the restaurant.

Coupled with the rapid exchange of information, Fu Yu was praised as if he were the heir to the owner, the future candidate for a culinary god.
