The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu figured it out after thinking it through.

Luckily, Yao Shi reported it yesterday, otherwise, if he had really had something else to attend to and skipped work, today’s affair would have been hard to handle.

Thinking of this, instead of getting angry, Fu Yu laughed.

If Jia Rundong hadn’t caused this scene, Zhao Meng and the others might not have remembered the incident where those customers tried using connections to skip the line.

After all, with so many people and so much work in the kitchen, almost no one would pay attention to such things.

And now they’re openly saying he skipped work.

Isn’t this reminding Zhao Meng that Fu Yu was clearly being targeted because he refused them before?

After figuring it out, Fu Yu shook his head helplessly and said to Wang Yuxuan: ”It’s nothing, it should be a misunderstanding, thank you for coming over to tell me.”

Wang Yuxuan waved his hand: ”No need to be polite, but is it really nothing?”

Fu Yu said with a smile: ”Really nothing, I went for an on-site service yesterday, and Chef Yao reported it.”

Wang Yuxuan was stunned: ”Then why...”

Sun Qingning, who has always been quick-witted, reacted immediately after hearing this, and said in surprise: ”Could it be because of the incident with the big plate chicken table last time?”

Fu Yu nodded: ”Sort of.”

Sun Qingning understood immediately.

He couldn’t help feeling lucky: ”It’s a good thing you actually went for on-site service yesterday. If you had to leave for a moment due to some temporary matter, you would have fallen right into his trap!”

Wang Yuxuan, listening to them talking crypticly, got anxious: ”What are you two talking about?”

Sun Qingning briefly explained what had happened.

Wang Yuxuan, after listening, understood what was going on.

But Sun Qingning, after sorting it out, said suspiciously: ”But Manager Jia didn’t come to the kitchen yesterday, right? How would he know that Chef Fu wasn’t there? Unless someone specifically told him!”

Indeed.

Jia Rundong usually stays in the office area and rarely comes out to the kitchen, so how would he know?

Wang Yuxuan suddenly thought of something and said quickly: ”Right, yesterday—no, the day before yesterday! Xiaoliu told me she saw Chef Yao talking to Manager Jia when she went to clock in...”

If it was Yao Yihang, then the truth is basically out.

That explains it!

No wonder he was smirking like that before!

Turns out, he was waiting for this!

Thinking of this, Fu Yu couldn’t help but glance playfully at Yao Yihang.

As luck would have it, Yao Yihang happened to be turning his head this way.

Their eyes met.

Yao Yihang, initially somewhat anxious, after all, he had a guilty conscience for doing something wrong.

Upon realizing Fu Yu was staring at him, he immediately felt a pang of guilt.

He instinctively wanted to look away, but luckily managed to restrain himself in time.

He mentally bolstered himself, thinking there’s nothing to panic about; it’s Fu Yu who’s getting his pay docked.

The thought of Fu Yu getting penalized instantly made Yao Shihang feel much better.

He then tried to nod at Fu Yu naturally, as if casually greeting someone, and then turned around.

Yao Yihang chuckled coldly.

”Aren’t you pretty cocky?”

”Let’s see how you handle this time!”

Fu Yu said, ”Xiaowang, thanks! I’ll treat you to bubble tea later.”

Wang Yuxuan waved his hand with a smile: ”No need for thanks, I’ll go get busy now.”

Saying that, Wang Yuxuan turned around and left.

Fu Yu patted Sun Qingning: ”Alright, let’s not worry about this matter. I’ll talk to Chef Zhao later and let him handle it. You focus on the dishes for later, I’ll re-cook this sweet and sour pork now.”

Sun Qingning thought about it and agreed, after all, Fu Yu had a legitimate reason and wasn’t afraid of being framed.

As for Jia Rundong’s punishment, Zhao Meng surely wouldn’t let it slide...

Fu Yu poured oil into the pan, preparing to make the sweet and sour pork.

As he was busy, his phone suddenly rang.

It was Gao Wenjing calling.

”Xiaofu, Manager Jia wants you to go to his office.”

Fu Yu was taken aback: ”Now?”

Gao Wenjing said: ”Yes, he wants you to come over immediately.”

Fu Yu responded, ”I’m in the middle of something, can’t step away right now, Sister Gao. Can you let him know for me?”

After saying this, Fu Yu hung up the phone.

They’re trying to take money from my pocket, why should I let them?

Besides, today they’re in charge of the kitchen staff’s lunch. If he leaves, who will cook?

Thinking clearly, Fu Yu stood in front of the cooking station and quickly got to work.

Just as he finished a plate of sweet and sour pork, the phone rang again.

This time it was a call from a courier saying the earphones he ordered online had arrived.

Fu Yu quickly let Sun Qingning know and jogged over to the front to pick up the package.

You could say that, when coincidences line up, even sneezing could scare a cat to death.

As soon as Fu Yu reached the front, he turned his head and saw Jia Rundong walking over from the direction of the canteen.

Seeing Jia Rundong, Fu Yu immediately turned his gaze away, pretending not to see, and headed toward the front desk.

Jia Rundong was stunned!

But he guessed that Fu Yu must have received Gao Wenjing’s message and was on his way to see him.

However, with so many people in the front, he wouldn’t admit fault in public.

Jia Rundong chuckled coldly in his heart and ignored it, deciding to first head to logistics to arrange the National Day decorations.

After handling everything, Jia Rundong leisurely started walking back.

These arrogant young guys need to be given a cold shoulder now and then to clear their minds.

While climbing the stairs, he ran into Gao Wenjing coming down with a waiter.

Gao Wenjing was instructing in a low voice: ”Your attitude is just wrong! Can you not smile a bit when talking? I’ve seen... Oh! Manager Jia!”

Jia Rundong nodded with a smile.

Gao Wenjing stopped and said: ”Manager Jia, I just called Fu Yu. About...”

Jia Rundong said: ”Oh, I saw him just now.”

Gao Wenjing mistakenly thought Fu Yu had already gone to see Jia Rundong and thus said reassuringly: ”That’s good, Manager Jia, I’ll be on my way then.”

Jia Rundong waved: ”Alright, go ahead.”

Gao Wenjing stepped aside to let Jia Rundong pass, and only after he did, she continued down the stairs with the waiter.

Jia Rundong was clearly pleased by Gao Wenjing’s gesture.

He returned to his office in a good mood.

However, upon entering, the room was empty, no one in sight.

He came back out and asked in the direction of the open finance office: ”Did Fu Yu come looking for me just now?”

With Xin Li on leave today, only cashier Su Hong was in the office.

Su Hong paused: ”Fu Yu? No, haven’t seen him come up.”

Jia Rundong nodded, indicating he understood, and turned back to his office.

He picked up the phone to call Gao Wenjing.

”Xiaogao, about that call to Fu Yu earlier, what did he say?”

There was some background noise on Gao Wenjing’s end, and she subconsciously raised her voice: ”Ah! Fu Yu said he’s busy cooking, can’t leave.”

Jia Rundong: ”!”
