The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Right now, everyone’s gone, and the order has been accepted.

Dong Jun Tian was burning with anxiety, but there was nothing he could do!

Now, the only one in the restaurant who could handle this was Yao Shi.

As long as Yao Shi didn’t nod his head and accept this order, Dong Jun Tian’s pleading would be useless, no matter if he was the owner of Qianlima.

If he couldn’t do it himself, couldn’t make this traditional banquet, all words would be in vain!

Dong Jun Tian also knew that Yao Shi was in a tough spot, and what he did was indeed not nice.

After all, he was the one who accepted the order, but it had to be Yao Shi to execute it.

If the banquet was successfully arranged, there wouldn’t be much to say.

Not only would it leave a good reputation, but they’d also become acquainted with the customers present.

But if it wasn’t managed well, and the birthday feast was ruined, they’d be ”famous” in Bei’an City!

Who outside cares why you couldn’t set up the banquet?

Messing up the customer’s banquet is the same as messing up the face of Qianlima.

Furthermore, Chef Yao’s reputation would also be affected.

No matter how much Dong Jun Tian coaxed, Yao Shi just wouldn’t accept the order.

Helpless, Dong Jun Tian had to bring up the favor he did for Yao Shi years ago, which finally led to Yao Shi reluctantly accepting the order.

At this moment, in the spacious office, Dong Jun Tian sat on the guest sofa, watching Yao Shi browse his phone for information, silent.

When Dong Jun Tian was young, he also worked in the kitchen and knew a lot about cooking.

He sighed, ”For the traditional banquet, as long as we can find specific dishes and methods, we can piece together a banquet by imitating them. You shouldn’t be too stressed, it’s not a local specialty to begin with, so close enough should be fine. The old man, even if considering the sentiment from all the students, won’t be too picky!”

The person arranging the traditional banquet was actually Ji Maomao, the current chairman of the Bei’an City Political Consultative Conference.

He was a student of Wu Fan back in the day, and Wu Fan often looked after him. The two have kept in touch and often met up since then.

So for this birthday banquet, he was the most engaged among them.

The others also had the intention, but everything had to center around Ji Maomao, since his position is evident.

Yao Shi quickly rummaged through the materials related to the traditional banquet, his expression changing unpredictably.

The order had already been accepted, for this evening.

To do or not to do?

Whether it could be executed!

Had become the biggest issue.

If done, who would do it?

Referring to recipes for cooking, even he couldn’t guarantee the taste.

Moreover, with such tight timing, it’s uncertain if the ingredients could be prepared in time.

If not doing it...

Yao Shi felt his gratitude toward Dong Jun Tian was beginning to fade away.

No matter how deep the bond, it couldn’t withstand repeated wear and tear.

For an entire afternoon, Yao Shi stayed in Dong Jun Tian’s office, not leaving.

Researching materials, watching videos, contacting purchasers to buy ingredients last minute.

Busy until four-thirty in the afternoon.

The necessary things were all prepared, and the ingredients that could be readied were all gathered.

For those that couldn’t be bought, other dishes had to be improvised as substitutes.

Yao Shi listed another note, detailing the recipe for the dishes he found.

Then deliberated on the selection of substitute dishes.

By the time everything was prepared, it was already five o’clock.

With such a table, he definitely couldn’t finish it all by himself.

Yao Shi turned to Dong Jun Tian and said, ”Lao Gu’s side is on the night shift today, they can’t be moved. Old Zhao’s side, leave two people for overtime.”

Dong Jun Tian had no objections.

Yao Shi called Fu Yu, preparing to have him help as his assistant chef.

Fu Yu informed Zhao Meng, then jogged to the office.

Upon entering and hearing Yao Shi finished speaking, he realized it was the customer in room 401 who had ordered a banquet.

The order was accepted, so let’s do it!

Fu Yu had no objections.

It’s just a pity that he wouldn’t get to eat the roast lamb tonight.

Yao Shi explained the dishes of the traditional banquet in detail to Fu Yu.

It was the first time Fu Yu heard about such a banquet, and looking at the long list of dishes, he was in awe of Yao Shi.

Chef Yao is truly amazing!

He can make everything!

This traditional banquet could probably make it to the list of intangible cultural heritage, right?

Even this can be done!

No wonder he’s God Yao!

Yao Shi’s face was calm, but internally, he didn’t feel confident, taking a deep breath.

Once again, he was up a creek without a paddle.

And he was the paddle.

Even a clay figurine has a bit of blood.

So, as Yao Shi led Fu Yu outside,

Suddenly, Yao Shi turned around, staring at Dong Jun Tian: ”Brother Dong, there’s a first and second time for things, but not a third and fourth. I’ve been good enough all these years!”

Dong Jun Tian’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes flickered, and after a moment, he said: ”I promise there won’t be a next time.”

Yao Shi looked at Dong Jun Tian unflinchingly, said nothing, and left with Fu Yu.

...

Zhao Meng was guiding Sun Qingning in cooking, when he suddenly saw Fu Yu following Yao Shi back.

”What’s going on?”

Yao Shi said quietly: ”401 accepted an order for the traditional banquet, Fu Yu will help me as my assistant, and leave two more people on this side for overtime today.”

Zhao Meng was taken aback: ”401 has an order... traditional banquet...?”

Before he finished speaking, Zhao Meng suddenly realized!

Yao Shi meant that room 401 had temporarily accepted an order for the traditional banquet, and from the looks of it, it must be quite tricky, otherwise, Fu Yu wouldn’t need to assist, and they wouldn’t need additional help.

Anyone dining in room 401 would either be some leader or some boss, with a background that definitely wasn’t insignificant.

It’s just this traditional banquet?

Their restaurant had never done one before, and Yao Shi meant the order had already been accepted.

Who accepted it?

Zhao Meng’s eyes widened on the spot...

Yao Shi led Fu Yu to his cooking station, pasted the note on the kitchen wall, and instructed the two assistants Zhao Meng had just sent to prepare the ingredients.

After everything was arranged, Yao Shi sighed, turned to Fu Yu, and said: ”This traditional banquet, I’ve never done it before either, but the order has been accepted, so let’s do our best.”

Fu Yu: ”!”

No wonder the task required him to help create a birthday banquet that would move the old teacher Wu Fan to tears.

Turns out Yao Shi had never made this banquet before.

To accomplish the task, Fu Yu took advantage of the time when the ingredients weren’t ready to sneak a look at the specialty family banquet recipes.

Thank heavens, there really was a traditional banquet.

[Traditional Banquet: A classic banquet for hosting esteemed guests in Bai Shui. It refers to a three-in-one arrangement involving a tea banquet, a wine banquet, and a meal banquet. When guests arrive, the host first escorts them to the tea banquet. Once all guests are present, they proceed to the wine banquet for drinks. Finally, they move to the meal banquet for dinner.]

The banquet menu was basically the same as what Yao Shi found.

Six items for the tea banquet, eight for the wine banquet, fourteen for the meal banquet.

Altogether, with dishes, staple foods, and soups, it totaled twenty-eight items.

Fu Yu was tongue-tied, this equated to two full banquet tables!

Fu Yu couldn’t help asking: ”Chef Yao, what time is the banquet scheduled to start?”

Yao Shi said: ”Six o’clock.”

Which meant they had less than an hour to prepare.

Fu Yu frowned: ”Can we make it?”

Yao Shi glanced at the menu, sighed once more: ”We’ll do our best.”

At this moment, what else could be said but to do their best!
