The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 224: Chapter 223: That Guy Is As Stubborn As a Coffin Lid

The people in the store had not yet learned about their boss’s plans to acquire the neighboring Dayu Mall.

For now, their main focus was on the monthly payroll at the beginning of each month.

On the third of each month, the store’s financial personnel would promptly distribute salaries in the morning.

The money would be directly deposited into each person’s bank account, starting with the kitchen staff, followed by the front lobby, with managers going last.

The store had a clear rule that everyone would take their own money and was not allowed to ask each other about salaries.

Fu Yu wasn’t concerned about how much money others made.

As soon as his phone beeped, he quickly checked it.

Upon seeing it, he was overjoyed.

[7,700 yuan.]

The base salary after becoming a full-time employee was 3,000 yuan, plus bonuses from table service commissions, the innovative Great Harvest Stew award, the Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon innovation award, and the Salt and Pepper Squilla innovation improvement reward.

These alone added up to more than four thousand!

And that’s after deducting earnings from his several home service visits and the extra store commission!

Fu Yu was ecstatic.

He had tasks to tend to and didn’t dare leave the kitchen counter.

So he hurriedly took a screenshot of the reminder message and mass-sent it to his dad, his mom, and Zhao Meng.

Not long after, his mom responded first: [Son, you’re amazing! Buy some delicious food, and with the season changing soon, go buy yourself some new clothes!]

A little later, his dad replied: [Very impressive! Well done!]

Finally, Zhao Meng returned smelling of smoke, reached out and patted Fu Yu on the shoulder, and whispered, ”Let’s go to Lao Liu’s Barbecue tonight!”

This was the celebration for him. Fu Yu couldn’t stop smiling and nodded in agreement, ”No problem!”

In the afternoon, Yao Shi suddenly came to the back kitchen and announced in front of everyone that Sun Qingning had been made a full-time employee.

Although everyone had already heard about the news, they were still very excited when it became official.

Especially Zhao Meng’s people.

Since everyone worked and lived together daily, they had a bond, and this time, apart from envy, they were genuinely happy for Sun Qingning’s regularization.

It just so happened that today was payday, and the official notice of the regularization came.

Riding on this wave of happiness, Sun Qingning approached Zhao Meng to discuss having a dinner party to celebrate with everyone.

Zhao Meng’s impression of Sun Qingning was pretty average before.

The kid was smart and quick-witted but tended to be a bit lax at work.

He’d always just muddle through tasks and was the most proactive when it came to taking time off.

But now!

Zhao Meng couldn’t help but give Sun Qingning another look; the kid seemed to know how to handle things.

At least he had the initiative to propose hosting a dinner.

Zhao Meng nodded: ”Alright! But you don’t have to host this time; I’ve been planning to invite you all to roast a whole lamb. Let’s just set it for tonight!”

Being a head chef, Zhao Meng had either been sick or dealing with old ailments recently, and it was thanks to his dedicated team that they managed to get through the Mid-Autumn Festival smoothly.

Zhao Meng felt very touched and pleased.

He’d been thinking about finding an opportunity to invite everyone to a meal, as a reward for everyone’s hard work.

It just so happened that today was payday and Sun Qingning was made full-time; it was a double blessing worth celebrating.

Zhao Meng, being decisive, decided to bring everyone together and share this good news when he planned to host.

Everyone was thrilled to hear they were really going to have a whole roast lamb!

After Zhao Meng announced it, he then made a call to a restaurant that specialized in Tartar roast lamb to order one in advance.

Thus, Zhao Meng’s team was in high spirits the whole afternoon, with everyone smiling and working with more vigor.

Secrets never stayed hidden in the kitchen, especially since Zhao Meng made such a big announcement.

The people at Gu Yunwu’s side didn’t show it on their faces, but they were surely feeling uncomfortable inside.

Look at Chef Zhao, how generous!

A junior staff member becomes a full-time employee, and he celebrates out of his own pocket by inviting them for a roast lamb dinner.

Then look at ourselves.

When Yao Yihang was made full-time, we didn’t even see a shadow of a celebration!

Now that Sun Qingning from Zhao Meng’s side has been regularized, there’s no movement on our side at all.

Truly, different fortunes under the same roof.

It felt like being raised by a stepfather, didn’t it?

Stepdad Gu Yunwu just looked at his group of misfits with disappointment and then at Zhao Meng’s group, and instantly felt envious as if looking at someone else’s admirable kids.

Everyone on Gu Yunwu’s side kept their thoughts to themselves.

Meanwhile, Zhao Meng’s side was filled with joy.

Now in the kitchen, Zhao Meng’s image as stubborn and inflexible has started to change.

Previously in everyone’s eyes, he was like a coffin board.

It wasn’t necessarily that he had a bad temper; rather, he was just difficult to deal with, a typical case of being hard-headed.

He seemed so set in his ways, yet he was also somewhat shrewd, had little greed, and was bold.

Those under him both respected and feared him.

Outsiders generally thought of him as straightforward, reliable, and very trustworthy.

Likewise, Fu Yu was also quite popular in the store.

One reason was that people tended to love whomever Zhao Meng liked, assuming that if Zhao Meng found him agreeable, he must have good character and excellent culinary skills.

Another reason was Fu Yu was good-looking and had a kind personality. Except for Yao Yihang, he had basically won over everyone’s approval.

Fu Yu smiled and said, ”Chef Zhao, raising the bar like this for hosting, how will others handle hosting when they become regularized next time?”

Zhao Meng feigned to kick him: ”Hey! You’re finding fault with me for hosting! Next time anyone becomes regularized, they can host!”

Fu Yu agilely dodged and laughed, saying to the others, ”You heard it! Whoever becomes regularized next, it’s on them!”

Zhao Meng laughed too and said, ”For the next hosting, don’t come up to my standard! Just head to Lao Liu’s Barbecue for some skewers!”

The others laughed at the lively scene, but in their hearts, they started looking forward to their day of regularization.

It was as if they believed their turn was just around the corner.

Sun Qingning quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

He had been torn about whether to host another dinner since Zhao Meng was taking care of tonight’s.

But now that Fu Yu and Zhao Meng had clearly laid it out, saying that whoever becomes regularized next hosts, today’s matter could be considered resolved.

Sun Qingning gratefully looked at Fu Yu.

Just in time, Fu Yu looked over.

Sun Qingning smiled at Fu Yu, mouthing, ”Thanks!”

Fu Yu waved it off, feeling it was just a couple of words of kindness.

Smiling, Fu Yu made his way back to his station, and before he could settle in, a digital notification chimed in his ear:

[Ding! You have earned +10 favor points from NPC chef Sun Qingning]

Fu Yu smiled slightly.
