The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The food runner thought he misheard and specifically explained, ”This dish is for the customer in room 212. If you want it, you can order it separately.”

But the female customer said, ”No, we want this dish! Could you please communicate if this dish could be given to us first?”

The food runner was stunned.

These days, there are people who grab money, grab seats, and now apparently even grab dishes?

The food runner didn’t dare to make the decision on his own and quickly said, ”Sorry, dear customer. If you want to eat this dish, you can order it separately. This plate is for the customer in 212, and I can’t give it to you.”

What a joke!

If all customers are like this, how can dishes be served to tables properly?

The female customer became a little anxious and explained, ”My son has anorexia. Eating is usually very difficult for him. He suddenly wants to eat this dish now, but I’m afraid if we delay, soon he won’t want to eat it anymore.”

The food runner was taken aback and instinctively looked at the young man standing in front of him.

The young man was wearing a high school uniform, seemingly coming straight from school.

He appeared somewhat mature for his age with a square face, a particularly short haircut, a pale complexion, and thin cheeks.

The red school uniform accentuated his slightly large head and thin neck, exuding an unhealthy aura from inside out.

He really didn’t seem like a healthy person.

Though none around him had suffered from anorexia, there were plenty of reports online about it being a very tormenting disease.

Thinking of this, the food runner couldn’t help but feel pity.

In fact, when a dish is served largely depends on the speed the kitchen prepares it.

Therefore, when the restaurant is busy and there’s a large number of guests, waiting for dishes is inevitable.

Just as the food runner hesitated a bit, the female customer suddenly took out her phone and said, ”How about this, let’s add each other on WeChat, and I’ll send you a red packet? Then this plate could be given to us?”

The food runner’s expression changed immediately and quickly refused, ”No need! You don’t have to send me a red packet!”

The young man standing by could clearly no longer stand it and stopped her, ”Mom! Can you not do this?”

The female customer likely realized that giving a red packet over WeChat wasn’t reliable and hurriedly rummaged through her bag.

”It’s okay, I seem to have spare cash in my bag!”

This was also to prepare for an emergency in case the phone battery died and there was no quick cash at hand.

The young man furrowed his brows slightly and urged, ”Mom! I’m not in a hurry to eat! Just let us wait in order! Isn’t their service supposed to be pretty quick?”

The female customer immediately panicked, ”Can your condition wait? What if in a while, you don’t want to eat anymore?”

The young man somewhat despaired, ”Missing a meal won’t kill me! Haven’t I lived through it all these years?”

The female customer opened her mouth to argue but upon seeing the boy’s sickly complexion, she gritted her teeth and suppressed the anger bubbling up inside her.

The female customer quickly took out the money, intending to slip it into the food runner’s hand.

The food runner dared not take her money, especially as he was holding a plate, so he couldn’t entirely avoid it.

As the two were tussling over the money, a customer emerged from the room diagonally opposite.

The female customer said, ”Please, give me this dish! Our situation is special, just take care of us for once!”

The food runner originally intended to let them have the dish, but with the female customer causing a scene, he didn’t know how to handle it anymore.

Agreeing might lead to her trying to give him money again.

Not agreeing would almost certainly cause a fuss.

At this moment, the server in charge of attending to the two customers spoke up too.

”Why not just give it to her? It really is a special situation, I’ll immediately have the kitchen prepare another one.”

The food runner hesitated a little but eventually agreed.

However, this kind of thing certainly could not become a precedent.

”We’re accommodating you this time, but it won’t be possible next time. Everyone is here to eat, and while you’re anxious, other customers are too, so please understand each other.”

The female customer hurriedly said, ”Thank you, thank you so much.”

As she spoke, she tried to slip money to the food runner, ”Please, you must take this money! Thanks for letting us skip the line, otherwise we definitely wouldn’t get this dish anytime soon!”

The food runner was afraid of messing up the plate, dodging while refusing, ”No need, please stop, the dish is going to spill!”

At this moment, the customer who came out from the diagonal opposite room suddenly sneered, ”Wow! So, in your restaurant, giving the food runner money lets you cut the line? How long have we been waiting, and we haven’t even had one dish served yet! And she just cuts halfway? Where’s your manager? Is this how you serve your customers?”

The food runner’s face changed, and he quickly said, ”No, you misunderstood, their situation is special, this kid...”

”Misunderstood what? I saw it with my own eyes! Where’s your manager? Why are we waiting in line, but they can just cut in at will!”

The customer was a young woman, and at this moment, her face was stern, filled with anger as she looked at the food runner and the female customer.

The server nearby sensed things going south and quickly helped to explain, ”Here’s the thing, this customer has anorexia and now wants to eat this dish. So the family asked us if the dish could be given to them, it’s truly a special case!”

The young woman fumed, ”What! I always knew mentally ill attacking people isn’t punished, and now anorexia snatching dishes has become legitimate? Did you even ask the other customers?”

The female customer couldn’t take it any longer, ”Why is what you’re saying so unpleasant! Who would willingly be sick! Who’s secretly stealing? We all come here to eat, do we have to make a scene?”

While they argued, someone in room 212 next door curiously peeked out to see what was happening.

The food runner promptly greeted, ”Ah! Hello!”

The looky-loos were three laborer-looking customers, and upon hearing him, they came out and asked, ”Is there something going on?”

The food runner said, ”Here’s the thing, this dish is yours, but this customer’s son has anorexia and now wants this dish, so could you please let them have it?”

This person was good-natured and said with a smile, ”Oh, okay, then let them have it. We’re not in a hurry.”

The female customer repeatedly offered thanks, ”Really, thank you so much. How about this, I’ll cover the cost of this dish; I’ll take care of it later.”

This person quickly said, ”Oh, no need, it’s not much money, really no need!”

The young woman grew anxious upon hearing this and criticized, ”If everyone were like you, what fairness is there for us customers who wait their turn to be served?”

The faces of the food runner and the server turned blue, then purple.

They had clearly meant well, but hearing this accusation suddenly changed everything.

It made them sound as if they were allowing line skipping just because they had received money from the customers.
