The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu completely agreed with Yao Shi’s words.

Indeed.

Considering his current situation, it was really a bit too early to think about these matters.

And just as Yao Shi said, once he accepted the insurance from the music restaurant, it wouldn’t be much different from the treatment of a regular employee.

At that time, he’d be both a full-time employee at Qianlima and receiving benefits as a head chef at the music restaurant.

What if people found out?

After all, there’s no secret that time does not reveal.

Fu Yu thought it over and decided it would be better to put it aside for now.

After all, he still had two years left on his contract with Qianlima, who knows what could happen in that time.

Yao Shi gave Fu Yu some advice and, reflecting on his own actions earlier, suddenly felt like laughing.

This kid didn’t have any particular charm, yet spending time with him made one want to treat him sincerely.

Yao Shi stood up from the sofa: ”Alright, go home. Think carefully about this decision, no rush.”

Fu Yu nodded and stood up too.

The two walked out, one after the other.

Yao Shi remembered something and suddenly chuckled, giving Fu Yu a pat on the shoulder: ”By the way, this time’s Mid-Autumn competition, your team tied with Chef Gu’s team. The boss said everyone in the kitchen would get a reward! Fu Yu, you really have some skills!”

”With Chef Zhao’s hand injured and unable to cook, it was all on you. Yet even while handling a triple-course meal, you still managed to keep up with Chef Gu’s pace; your cooking speed is really impressive!”

Last night, Fu Yu really worked hard. He thought about Zhao Meng’s hand injury—it must have been hard on such a proud person to cause his team to miss out on store rewards because of him.

Fu Yu didn’t want Zhao Meng to feel bad, so he didn’t slack off at work at all, utilizing all his personal skills; and with Sun Qingning helping with the cooking, the two worked together at a quite fast pace.

Knowing they didn’t lose, Fu Yu felt an immense relief, smiling as he said: ”This time it’s thanks to Sun Qingning’s help. If he hadn’t helped with the orders, I definitely couldn’t have kept up with Chef Gu.”

Yao Shi knew that Sun Qingning had also started cooking.

This kid indeed has good fortune!

First, he was assigned to assist Fu Yu, learning some skills from him in just a few days.

Then he had a chance to practice cooking on his own. Just as he was beginning to get the hang of things, Zhao Meng injured his hand, and now he was basically able to cook independently while Zhao Meng stood by his side providing guidance.

And thus, the two unintentionally developed a mentor-apprentice relationship.

To have Zhao Meng teaching him cooking hand by hand, Sun Qingning’s luck really is unmatched!

Thinking of this, Yao Shi chuckled, casually saying: ”With some more training, I think he might pretty soon be able to become permanent.”

Upon hearing this, Fu Yu’s eyes instantly lit up.

Sun Qingning’s potential permanence was crucial to unlocking the partner system.

Fu Yu was quite looking forward to this.

For the rest of the time, Fu Yu stayed in the back kitchen, busy cooking dishes and preparing meals with the team.

The business at the music restaurant was indeed great. Even though the Mid-Autumn Festival had just passed yesterday, today’s orders were still full.

Fu Yu stayed until six in the evening before returning to Qianlima.

Zhao Meng had the early shift today.

When Fu Yu went over to see Zhao Meng, he found out that Yao Shi had returned at noon.

With Zhao Meng unable to cook due to his hand injury, just with Gu Yunwu and Yao Yihang, the kitchen was overwhelmed.

Sun Qingning could handle a few simple dishes, but when things got truly busy, he was inevitably a bit flustered.

If not for Yao Shi’s presence, today’s order-taking wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.

Zhao Meng said cheerfully: ”The boss said the Mid-Autumn Festival competition’s prize is 200 yuan for each person, to be added directly to the salary at the end of the month.”

Fu Yu was delighted: ”That’s great!”

Zhao Meng continued: ”Tomorrow, a provincial TV station journalist will come for filming. Make sure to wear your apron after they leave!”

Mentioning Fu Yu’s apron, Zhao Meng couldn’t help showing disdain: ”Anyway, now that the boss has given 200 yuan, can’t you buy a new one?”

Fu Yu unhesitatingly refused: ”This one is perfectly fine, 98% polyester, easy to clean and doesn’t stain with oil!”

Zhao Meng rolled his eyes, too lazy to argue with this ”stingy guy.”

In preparation for the provincial TV station’s journalists, the kitchen’s two cleaning staff worked overtime until midnight, finally making the entire kitchen spotless, with metals shining and woods showing their original beauty.

Meanwhile, all the kitchen staff donned their uniforms, scrubbed clean last night with great effort, and stood vibrantly at their respective stations, working carefully.

The people peeling vegetables laid a bag on the floor to avoid dirtying it, fearing reprimands from the cleaning staff.

The butchers kept a rag ready to wipe any splattered ingredients clean at any time.

Fortunately, the provincial TV station journalists arrived early at nine to avoid customer rush hours.

They said they were there for filming, so their cameras were constantly focused on interviewing Yao Shi and Gu Yunwu.

They shot some footage of Yao Shi cooking.

They also specifically went to the front hall, carefully selecting backgrounds and angles to interview Yao Shi and Gu Yunwu about some Qianlima specialties.

Yao Shi introduced Qianlima’s history and some of the restaurant’s specialties.

Gu Yunwu seized the opportunity to promote the new dish innovations being trialed in the store, making quite an impressive presence.

Just as Gu Yunwu was reveling in his moment of fame, Yao Shi suddenly introduced to the journalists: ”This innovative harvest stew and the improved salt and pepper shrimp are developed by our chef Fu Yu. He’s a very talented young chef with outstanding skills and a great sense of innovation...”

In just a few simple words, the entire focus was effortlessly shifted to Fu Yu.

Fu Yu was completely unaware of this.

Zhao Meng’s tendonitis flared up aggressively.

They say recovery from illness is like pulling silk, with time passing day by day, yet his hand still couldn’t bear weight.

With external and internal treatments, massages, and therapies, trying everything.

During his rest days, he went to the hospital for X-rays; the doctor still recommended proper nurturing.

Zhao Meng was anxious yet helpless.

By the end of the month, Fu Yu suddenly noticed the restaurant’s order forms abruptly increasing.

Even during weekdays like Monday to Friday, as long as it was mealtime, customers were constantly streaming in.

Moreover, many customers specifically noted in their orders the desire for Chef Fu to cook.

In the entire kitchen, Fu Yu was the only one with the surname Fu.

What’s going on?
