The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Being praised by the boss is something to be proud of.

Even Sun Qingning and Zhang Jinyu, upon hearing it, felt quite envious!

However, aside from envy, they didn’t have any other thoughts.

After all, Fu Yu is indeed impressive.

So impressive that there’s nothing more to say!

Yao Shi looked at Dong Jun Tian, who was visibly pleased, and had a thought.

Quickly weighing the situation in his mind, Yao Shi said, ”By the way, boss, we’re nearing the National Day. Didn’t the organizers of this year’s Sanjiang Tourism Festival send us an invitation to the Gold Chef Skills Competition? Old Zhao’s old injury has flared up, and it’s inconvenient for me to participate. The back kitchen is relying on Lao Gu to manage the orders, so he can’t be spared. I think Fu Yu’s cooking skills are quite good now; he has a good chance of winning an award. I suggest sending him to give it a try!”

Dong Jun Tian was taken aback. With so many things happening lately, he had been so busy that he forgot about this matter.

Every year during the Sanjiang Tourism Festival, the Bei’an City Government holds a Gold Chef Skills Competition. This year marks the seventh edition.

Last year, the representative from Qianlima Restaurant was Gu Yunwu, who won the second place, with the first place taken by Liu Sifang, the chef from Qilin Private Kitchen.

However, it was heard that Liu Sifang had resigned earlier this spring and opened a small restaurant in the provincial capital, which was thriving.

The year before, the participant was Zhao Meng, who also took second place, with Yao Shi winning first place.

Yao Shi was invited to participate as a guest performer that year, but for some reason, his dishes were included in the competition.

Qianlima made quite a splash that year, but it also led to extreme dissatisfaction from the owners and participants of other competing restaurants.

Since then, Yao Shi stopped participating in chef competitions.

Dong Jun Tian couldn’t help but look at Fu Yu.

This representative is essentially the face of Qianlima Restaurant.

Can Fu Yu handle it?

No matter how outstanding his performance, he’s only been officially onboard for a month, so how exceptional could his cooking skills be?

Initially, Dong Jun Tian planned to send Gu Yunwu to the competition, as the back kitchen had Zhao Meng and also Yao Shi to hold the fort.

If it were before, he would have outright rejected Yao Shi’s suggestion.

But now...

After the Three-Turn Banquet incident, Dong Jun Tian felt a bit cowed when facing Yao Shi.

It’s just a chef competition; winning or not doesn’t really impact the shop’s business.

Moreover, with Fu Yu’s status, losing wouldn’t be embarrassing.

Bearing this in mind, Dong Jun Tian felt it unnecessary to argue with Yao Shi over this matter.

Better to go along with Yao Shi’s suggestion.

Thinking of this, Dong Jun Tian smiled and nodded, ”Alright, let’s do as you say.”

Then, he looked at Fu Yu, ”Fu Yu, how about you represent us in this year’s Gold Chef Skills Competition, alright?”

Just as Fu Yu was about to speak, a digital notification rang in his ear:

”Ding! Task from NPC Qianlima Restaurant’s owner Dong Jun Tian: Participate in the Gold Chef Skills Competition and win first prize. Task reward: Choose to learn a personal skill from one of the competition’s on-site judges.”

Fu Yu was stunned!

The personal skill of one of the competition’s judges?

If they’re judges at a chef competition, they must be of a master level!

Learning any one of those skills would be like a pie falling from the sky!

Thinking of this, Fu Yu couldn’t help but feel excited.

Fu Yu looked at Dong Jun Tian and said happily and confidently, ”Boss, I’ll definitely participate in the competition well!”

Dong Jun Tian laughed, ”Good! If you win an award, our shop will also give you a bonus!”

After praising them a few more times, Dong Jun Tian left.

After Dong Jun Tian left, the group tidied up a bit.

They changed clothes, gathered with the others, and went to the Tatara Roast Whole Lamb.

Zhao Meng was indeed quite generous; he ordered a whole lamb over the phone, paid by weight, and this roast lamb cost 3200.

The lamb head and heart were braised, the offal made into soup, the lamb feet stir-fried with chilies, and the lamb tail stewed with spicy sauce.

Everyone drank the rich lamb soup while eating meat, and since the soup was so flavorful, they drank less alcohol.

Sun Qingning and Zhang Jinyu were still somewhat intimidated by Zhao Meng and Yao Shi; each tugged on a rib and moved over to the empty table next door.

In the end, only Fu Yu stayed at the table with Zhao Meng and Yao Shi.

Zhao Meng, with a serious expression, looked at the laughing and chatting group at the next table and couldn’t help but quietly complain, ”What, do they think I’ll eat them or something? Look at them!”

Fu Yu quickly replied, ”That just shows you have authority! Everyone says it’s out of respect that people are afraid. It’s a good thing!”

Zhao Meng chuckled angrily and placed a lamb trotter into Fu Yu’s bowl, ”Eating doesn’t even stop your mouth!”

While gnawing on the lamb trotter, Fu Yu glanced at Zhao Meng and noticed that his expression had softened, and suddenly felt cheerful.

It was at this moment that Yao Shi suddenly said softly, ”Fu Yu, I have something I want to discuss with you.”

Fu Yu looked at Yao Shi.

Yao Shi said, ”Today’s Three-Turn Banquet, I’m planning to promote it as a mid-range banquet at the music-themed restaurant. However, this banquet is quite complex, and I definitely won’t have time to handle it myself in the short term. So, I’m thinking of letting you, as before, teach Chef Zhang and the others how to make this banquet when you take time off over there. The compensation will be based on previous standards, what do you think?”

Almost as soon as Yao Shi finished speaking, a digital notification sounded in Fu Yu’s ear:

”Ding! Task from NPC Head Chef Yao Shi: Teach the music restaurant’s kitchen chefs the cooking method of the Three-Turn Banquet. Task completion reward: Random reward.”

Fu Yu nodded without hesitation, ”No problem!”

This is a random reward!

Even if it’s just an oil-free chef’s uniform, he would find it greatly beneficial.

This roast whole lamb feast was quite satisfying; the group of young men in their early twenties was quite formidable, but even they couldn’t completely finish the whole roast lamb.

The remaining lamb ribs were packed up and given to the few workers who didn’t stay in the dorms to take home.

The few people who received the lamb ribs were quite happy.

Lamb is quite expensive now!

This bag of lamb ribs, processed a bit, would allow a family to have another delicious meal.

So as they left, the group warmly bid farewell to Zhao Meng.

Even when they saw Zhao Meng’s stern face later, they inexplicably found him a bit approachable.

On their way back to the dormitory at night, Fu Yu rode in Yao Shi’s car with Zhao Meng.

The three of them chatted and laughed all the way, and when they reached the restaurant’s side entrance, the two got out one after the other.

As they entered, none of them noticed Yao Yihang standing diagonally across, waiting for a taxi to go home.

Yao Yihang looked at Fu Yu, who was arm-in-arm with Zhao Meng, with a face full of jealousy.
