The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 220: Chapter 219: This Is Just Too Sudden

This heaping dish of sizzling pot fish was served on the table and instantly became the most popular dish at lunch.

It was quite the coincidence; just as they were finishing off the sizzling pot fish, which was being devoured, Dong Jun Tian got a sudden inspiration and came over with Yao Shi to check on the kitchen staff’s meal situation.

”Whoa! What’s everyone eating here? It’s a mad scramble!”

When Dong Jun Tian and Yao Shi arrived, they saw a few people in the kitchen scrambling and fighting to grab food from the pot.

Hearing the inquiry, no one acknowledged it, afraid that if they weren’t careful with their chopsticks, they might drop a piece of fish back into the pot, letting others have it by chance.

Zhao Meng laughed and said, ”Xiaosun’s sizzling pot fish is especially delicious, and these guys are going crazy over it!”

Being curious, Dong Jun Tian took a closer look and saw that there was hardly any fish left, just a bit of broth remaining.

”Huh?” Dong Jun Tian, intrigued, turned to ask, ”Doesn’t seem like the style we serve in our restaurant.”

Zhao Meng said, ”Xiaosun’s version isn’t the way we usually make sizzling pot fish here. It’s fried first and then stewed, and it’s really delicious.”

”Really?” Dong Jun Tian asked Sun Qingning in surprise, ”How did you make this?”

Yao Shi, standing next to him, also looked at Sun Qingning.

Sun Qingning was obviously a bit flustered from the attention his dish was receiving.

He never imagined that using Fu Yu’s method to cook white carp would turn out so tasty!

Now the boss was asking, and learning from the previous incident with the record-keeping, Sun Qingning didn’t dare take credit this time.

He honestly explained the method for making the sizzling pot fish, not forgetting to emphasize at the end, ”It was Chef Fu who taught me this and who would have thought it would turn out to be so good.”

Hearing this, everyone present turned to look at Fu Yu.

Previously, everyone was too focused on grabbing the food to think much of it.

Now, being asked, they realized that this sizzling pot fish was actually an innovative dish!

Dong Jun Tian had obviously noticed this too, and his gaze towards Fu Yu contained a hint of appreciation.

This young chef indeed has talent!

With just a casual bit of guidance, he’s created an innovative dish.

And at that moment, Yao Shi, who had been silent all along, glanced at Fu Yu and Sun Qingning sitting together and suddenly asked, ”Haven’t you guys had enough of this sizzling pot fish?”

Earlier, as soon as the sizzling pot fish was served, everyone had pounced on it.

Two large white carps should have been enough, but with so many people in the kitchen, there were only a few bites for each, and then it was gone.

Definitely not enough to eat!

Now that Yao Shi asked, everyone immediately understood and reacted quickly, with one of them taking the lead and responding, ”We haven’t had enough!”

Others quickly agreed, ”We just got a taste, didn’t even have time to savor it, and it was gone!”

Yao Shi then went along with the sentiment and said, ”Just perfect, we haven’t eaten either, so let’s ask the boss to prepare another serving of sizzling pot fish, shall we?”

Anyone who wouldn’t agree to having more fish would be foolish, especially with someone leading the charge!

So the kitchen staff immediately chimed in, ”Alright!”

”Boss, we want more fish!”

Dong Jun Tian found it amusing and touching at the same time to hear everyone calling out ’boss,’ so he made a sweeping gesture and said, ”Okay then, go fetch two more fish!”

Yao Shi smiled and turned to Sun Qingning, ”Xiaosun, could you please make another batch?”

Sun Qingning, both surprised and delighted, quickly agreed and got up to head back to the kitchen.

He had just made this sizzling pot fish, so doing it again wasn’t difficult.

As Sun Qingning left, Yao Shi turned to Dong Jun Tian and said, ”Boss, let’s also go see how this sizzling pot fish is made. I’m quite curious.”

Dong Jun Tian agreed, and they both left one after the other.

Seeing them leave, Fu Yu turned to see Zhao Meng staring fixedly towards the kitchen, lost in thought.

Fu Yu nudged Zhao Meng’s arm and softly asked, ”Chef Zhao, what are you looking at?”

Zhao Meng snapped back to reality, shook his head at Fu Yu, and said quietly, ”Chef Yao plans to promote Sun Qingning to full-time. He’s taking the boss over to assess him.”

Fu Yu was stunned!

”He’s getting promoted now? Isn’t that too sudden?”

Zhao Meng shook his head with a smile, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear, ”Sun Qingning is quite talented, and he’s been doing a good job recently. With some more practice, I think he won’t take long to be able to handle orders independently.”

That’s true.

Sun Qingning indeed is very smart and has been improving rapidly.

In the past, whenever there was an opportunity to take a day off, he’d definitely not miss a single day. He’d start asking for leave early on.

But now, since the Mid-Autumn Festival, when the restaurant started its promotions, he hasn’t mentioned taking a day off.

If someone has potential and is willing to work hard, then with some nurturing, it’s only a matter of time before they can handle things on their own.

Zhao Meng recalled how he was short of potassium earlier, not understanding his condition, and was struck by a sudden overwhelming weakness throughout his body, a feeling of hopeless despair that lingered in his memory.

Even before he could recover, his hand faltered again.

Even though he knew that rest could help his tenosynovitis recover, these consecutive setbacks weakened his resolve and left him feeling vulnerable inside.

Yao Shi’s sudden decision to temporarily promote Sun Qingning was clearly an attempt to provide support for him once again.

Once Sun Qingning is promoted, he can team up with Fu Yu for orders.

Even if initially, he can’t participate in the revenue split, with his salary increased, he’d naturally be more motivated and passionate about his work.

Given Sun Qingning’s intelligence and talent, he should become proficient quickly.

When the time comes, if Zhao Meng has both Fu Yu and Sun Qingning backing him up, if such a situation happens again, the pressure won’t be as overwhelming.

Zhao Meng understood that and felt grateful for the arrangements Yao Shi made for him.

If it was before, he might have thought there was no need to rush Sun Qingning’s promotion, but now, unknowingly, his perspective had begun to change.

Fu Yu felt worried, ”Shouldn’t I find a way to give him a heads-up?”

After all, this was about getting promoted!

But Zhao Meng shook his head, ”No need, what he did before was good. Let him play freely. If he knows it’s an assessment, his nervousness might affect his cooking.”

As they continued talking, Zhao Meng asked, ”How are you getting along with Xiaosun? Is he alright?”

Fu Yu nodded, ”Pretty good, he’s a decent person.”

Zhao Meng nodded, his mood slightly complex.

Fu Yu didn’t say anything more, his heart was hanging in suspense for Sun Qingning.

This was crucial for whether the partnership system could be successfully initiated!

Besides, from spending time together lately, Fu Yu had gotten along well with Sun Qingning and truly hoped he could succeed and smoothly get promoted.
