The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 223: Chapter 222: Confirmed News

Carefully reviewed Sun Qingning’s personal attributes.

Fu Yu then noticed that a symbol [!] appeared next to the personal attributes of both of them.

Fu Yu chose to view it.

[Details: 1. Partner Cooperation Cooking Experience Bonus: When both of you are cooking a banquet, one table can earn +20 task experience.

2. Partner Cooperation Level-Up Reward: Every 5 levels upgraded by partner Sun Qingning grants a random reward.]

This partnership system is quite good!

With it, leveling up can be accelerated.

This task even rewarded him with a random prize!

Fu Yu’s heart raced.

The oil-repellent chef’s uniform from last time, despite its many drawbacks, proved to be very practical in the sweltering kitchen.

At least, it allowed one to stay dry, and washing the apron daily was much easier than washing a chef’s uniform.

Fu Yu claimed the random reward.

[Ding! Congratulations on receiving the reward: A course schedule for elective classes, and a key to the elective practical classroom.]

The smile on Fu Yu’s face gradually froze.

Elective classes again!

Again?

This time, Fu Yu learned his lesson.

You can’t just randomly choose an elective class; if you’re not careful, that shadowy figure might forcibly give a lesson, and then you’d regret it with no place to cry!

Better to study it slowly and then decide.

No rush...

The news of Sun Qingning’s official status hasn’t been formally announced yet.

However, this news quickly grew wings and spread to everyone.

Everyone was waiting to see how Zhang Jiaxin from Gu Yunwu’s side would react.

After all, in the entire kitchen, the only one comparable to Sun Qingning was Zhang Jiaxin.

In the end, there was no reaction from Zhang Jiaxin’s side at all.

As if this matter had nothing to do with him.

Honestly, when Zhang Jiaxin first heard this news, he felt a bit disappointed.

He clearly saw the difference between himself and Sun Qingning.

Especially with that lunchtime clay pot fish, the taste and the timing were perfectly controlled.

If before, Zhang Jiaxin thought he was stronger than Sun Qingning, now he had to admit that he had been left far behind.

He couldn’t help but think again, if he hadn’t followed Gu Yunwu back then and became one of Zhao Meng’s helpers instead, would this official position have fallen to him today?

Thinking of this, Zhang Jiaxin sighed, how many ”what ifs” can there be in life?

And to be fair, someone like Sun Qingning, who could take charge of the stove in such a short time, not even just himself, but even Yao Yihang reportedly took nearly half a year of stumbling before slowly becoming independent.

But on Zhao Meng’s side, whether it was Fu Yu or Sun Qingning, they made rapid progress in a short time.

On one hand, it’s true these two are talented and smart.

On the other hand, it must also be that Zhao Meng’s culinary skills are outstanding, and he’s great at mentoring apprentices.

In the kitchen, many people thought the same way as Zhang Jiaxin at the time.

After all, facts speak louder than words.

For a time, the morale among Zhao Meng’s helpers was high.

They all thought that after Sun Qingning, the remaining few were a step closer to earning an official position.

Everyone was eager to perform and work hard, significantly improving their work efficiency.

Even Yao Shi couldn’t help but joke with Zhao Meng: ”I say, Old Zhao, what kind of bewitching potion have you given them? They’re as hyper as chickens pumped with hormones! Looking at your side, and then turning to look at Lao Gu’s side, it’s like comparing gold to dust!”

Zhao Meng calmly took a drag of his cigarette: ”They’re eager to compete to be Fu Yu and Sun Qingning’s helpers.”

Previously, Sun Qingning was Fu Yu’s helper, and within just a month, he smoothly became official.

The remaining helpers saw this and would naturally scramble to occupy that position.

As for not getting Fu Yu’s helper position, becoming Sun Qingning’s helper is also good; at least it brings them closer to managing the stove, which is better than continuing as a helper.

Yao Shi chuckled: ”If your helpers keep being promoted to assistants, there’ll be no one left to do the work.”

The workload for helpers in the kitchen is still quite significant. Zhao Meng’s side typically had four people working together, and previously Zhang Jinyu was temporarily transferred to be an assistant, leaving just three people now.

Should any of these three get promoted, then there’d be no one left for the prep work.

But Zhao Meng wasn’t worried and said cheerfully: ”Isn’t it almost time for the store to recruit newbies again?”

Every year, Qianlima collaborates with culinary schools to recruit a batch of interns. Those who do well get to stay after a month; those who don’t are directly let go.

In the kitchen, except for the head chef, other positions have high turnover rates.

New recruits can be brought in anytime, so if someone quits, they can immediately fill the gap.

In talking about this, Zhao Meng asked: ”After Xiaosun goes official, the number of chefs will exceed the limit!”

The original design was one head chef, two senior chefs, two sous chefs, and five helpers each side. This staffing was just enough.

But now, with Sun Qingning going official, there’s one more sous chef, which means an extra workstation needs to be accommodated, and the kitchen space is visibly insufficient.

Yao Shi, however, laughed: ”No problem, the kitchen will be expanded and rebuilt sooner or later.”

Zhao Meng’s eyes lit up: ”There’s official word on this?”

Yao Shi nodded: ”The boss contacted Dayu Mall’s owner today and arranged to meet tomorrow.”

Dayu Mall is just beside Qianlima Restaurant, with a less than three meters wide alley between the two buildings.

Called a mall, it’s actually just a four-story low-rise building.

Originally it sold clothes, but with the rise of micro-businesses and e-commerce, physical stores were hugely impacted, and tenants in the mall gradually withdrew.

Since the year before last, the mall has barely been holding on.

It finally put up a for-sale sign last year during the New Year.

Dong Jun Tian had been considering it for nearly half a year.

Recently, seeing business thriving and hearing that the building usage rights for the passageway between Qianlima and Dayu Mall belonged to Dayu Mall...

He finally decided to start contacting Dayu Mall’s owner to take over.

When the two buildings are connected and integrated...

Both the front hall and the kitchen, and even the employee dormitory can be much more spacious.

Zhao Meng was a bit surprised: ”Weren’t they planning to rebuild? Why are they buying a building now?”

Yao Shi replied: ”If opening a branch isn’t feasible, then they have to find a solution here.”

Qianlima is an old-brand restaurant, and if a branch was opened, consistency in taste is one thing.

The most important aspect is customer recognition of this century-old store.

If a branch was opened and customers didn’t recognize it, what would they do?
