The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Pouring the ingredients from the pot into a basin, Fu Yu turned and instructed Zhang Jiaxin, ”Are there any clams that have already expelled sand?”

Zhang Jiaxin was about to speak, but just as Yao Yihang, who was preparing to go to the storage room to get some side dishes, saw this scene and said, ”Chef Fu... aren’t you going to use up the yellow clams first...”

Before he finished speaking!

Fu Yu continued, ”Just bring them all over.”

Yao Yihang couldn’t help but say, ”Chef Fu, you should use up the yellow clams first, these clams expelled sand just last night, the yellow clams have been sitting for two days already...”

At this moment, Zhang Jiaxin, who had been standing by and was about to fetch the clams, suddenly said, ”Chef Yao, Chef Fu has already used up all the yellow clams!”

Yao Yihang was instantly stunned!

How could that be!

Those yellow clams could make at least fourteen or fifteen servings of spicy stir-fried seafood medley.

Previously, customers ordered ten, then added another ten.

Zhao Meng had been gone for less than forty minutes, and the yellow clams were used up?

Yao Yihang looked suspiciously at Zhang Jiaxin.

Could they have not weighed the yellow clams when adding them?

Zhang Jiaxin quickly explained, ”After Chef Zhao left, Chef Fu made five servings of the spicy stir-fried seafood medley!”

What?

That fast!

Even if he was unwilling to admit it, Yao Yihang had to acknowledge it.

Wasn’t Fu Yu just too strong?

Fu Yu did not continue talking to Yao Yihang, turning back to continue cooking.

Eight minutes...

One pot!

Seven and a half minutes...

One pot!

Zhang Jiaxin watched with a surging heart, feeling a bit excited!

It’s because Fu Yu’s technique was too fast.

He kept the heat high the whole time, not adjusting it once, flipping the wok at an incredibly fast speed, yet not a single clam shell broke.

In less than forty minutes, Fu Yu cooked all five remaining servings of the spicy stir-fried seafood medley.

Zhang Jiaxin and the waiter who was coming back and forth to serve dishes were stunned, was this the power of a kitchen god?

So strong!

The prep hand beside him, responsible for preparing ingredients, looked at Fu Yu with eyes full of admiration.

If before, they thought Fu Yu would stand out among them just because of his good looks, earning Zhao Meng’s favor,

then now, they had completely overturned their previous thoughts, one by one.

Why was it that among the same batch of newly hired assistants, Fu Yu was the first to become a full-time chef?

Of course, it was because Fu Yu was truly impressive!

When the last serving of spicy stir-fried seafood medley was served at the table, the two food enthusiasts finally couldn’t eat another bite.

The waiter excitedly rushed to the back kitchen to report, ”The last two servings of spicy stir-fried seafood medley were requested to be packed, and they’re headed to the cashier now!”

Everyone in the back kitchen felt a sense of relief, finally, they were going home!

After finishing his tasks, Fu Yu went over to greet Gu Yunwu, ”Chef Gu, I’ve finished serving all the dishes.”

Gu Yunwu was relieved, unable to hide his admiration as he looked at Fu Yu, ”Xiaofu, you’re truly incredible! Your speed and strength, honestly, surpass what I had when I was young!”

Fu Yu smiled, ”Compared to you, I’m certainly far behind.”

Gu Yunwu felt comforted, smiling sincerely, ”If it weren’t for you today, completing this order... would’ve been really uncertain!”

Seeing there was nothing else to do, Fu Yu made his farewells to Gu Yunwu and prepared to head back to rest.

Zhang Jiaxin suddenly said to Gu Yunwu, ”Chef Gu, I’m going to the restroom.”

Gu Yunwu nodded.

Zhang Jiaxin happened to head in the same direction as Fu Yu, and the two walked out together.

Among the assistants in the back kitchen, Zhang Jiaxin was, like Fu Yu, introduced by the school leader to intern at Qianlima after graduating from culinary school, and then naturally stayed on.

He had been working under Gu Yunwu as an assistant for almost a year.

Now that Yao Yihang has become a full-fledged chef, Zhang Jiaxin was the most distinguished assistant under Gu Yunwu.

But with two of his colleagues who joined at the same time getting promoted one after another, he felt a lot of pressure without a promotion opportunity coming up.

Because of this, he had been looking for a better opportunity elsewhere during his off days, planning to resign.

For his future plans, after much consideration, Zhang Jiaxin felt that it was best to do like Yao Yihang, first find a small restaurant, hone his culinary skills, then reapply to a big restaurant, or simply start his own food stall.

Either way, it would surely be better than muddling along in the back kitchen as it was now.

He felt that his current job was purely a waste of time.

Gaining nothing, and the chances of full-time were still far away.

Honestly, the cooking session by Fu Yu just now was shocking to Zhang Jiaxin.

How many times must he have flipped the wok to practice to such speed and skill.

Moreover, even after working an entire exhausting day, Fu Yu could continuously complete more than a dozen spicy stir-fried seafood medleys, showing how impressive his strength was.

But the truth was, Fu Yu had started in the back kitchen just days apart from Zhang Jiaxin, where did he get such practice opportunity?

Seeing that Fu Yu was heading back, Zhang Jiaxin, almost instinctively, made an excuse to follow him.

He had many questions he wished to ask Fu Yu, and now that the two were walking side by side in the corridor, Zhang Jiaxin hurriedly seized the opportunity, turning to Fu Yu and said, ”Chef Fu, your culinary skills looked truly amazing earlier! Could you tell me how you practiced?”

How he practiced, he certainly couldn’t say.

Fu Yu wasn’t closely tied with Zhang Jiaxin, after all, they weren’t under the same head chef, not the same side, even if Zhang Jiaxin was a good person, making friends was another matter.

After all, even if someone had a good heart and a good nature, if they weren’t from the same camp, they wouldn’t really mix.

Thus, Fu Yu smiled and said, ”Haven’t you seen what I usually do?”

These guys in the back kitchen saw each other every day, turning around and bumping into each other.

Who wouldn’t know what the others did day-to-day?

Hearing this, Zhang Jiaxin felt an indescribable powerlessness, a bit helpless, and deep self-doubt.

Even though they did the same work every day, how could Fu Yu manage to practice to such a high level?

Apart from the difference in talent, Zhang Jiaxin couldn’t think of anything else.

The public restroom was located in the middle of the corridor.

Zhang Jiaxin bid farewell to Fu Yu, turning to enter.

When he came back out, he didn’t rush to return to the back kitchen but stood in front of the corridor’s open window, gazing at the still night outside through the mesh screen.

The thing about talent is that it is innate; he couldn’t compare with others, but there was no need to be dejected.

Nonetheless, what should he do now?

Zhang Jiaxin was born in a small county affiliated with Bei’an, with a modest family background. His parents married and had children relatively late, now both retired at home, each receiving a pension of over a thousand, and his dad even had an extra job as a security guard.

All three in the family were earning and spending independently, at least without worries about food and clothing.

He wanted to strive, but his capabilities were limited.

He daydreamed for a while.

Zhang Jiaxin took a deep breath, wondering why he should think so much.

Well, he would just follow his ideas.
