The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

In the storeroom.

Fu Yu matched the list, selecting the ingredients needed for the afternoon.

Tian Lei smiled and asked Fu Yu, ”Chef Fu, who’s going to help with this feast later?”

Fu Yu handed the chosen ingredients to Tian Lei and said, ”You’ll lend a hand, we’ll handle it ourselves!”

Upon hearing this, Tian Lei’s face changed instantly. After hesitating a bit, he cautiously suggested, ”This feast involves eight dishes and eight bowls, totaling sixteen dishes. The serving time is set at 5 p.m., but we only have two hours to cook, it might be tight, don’t you think? Maybe it’s better to ask Chef Liu and others for help? This customer seems easygoing for now, but if anything goes wrong, it could be hard to manage.”

Fu Yu shook his head.

It wasn’t that he was overly confident, but the opportunity was rare.

As Yao Shi said, if he wanted to stabilize his reputation, he must first establish his image, then position himself with culinary skills.

The image part was almost done, and for culinary skills, only by doing it himself could he get a chance to showcase.

This feast of eight dishes and eight bowls was originally led by him; no one understood the specific cooking methods better than he did.

Some things outsiders were unclear about, but Fu Yu was perfectly aware of.

When he was arranging this feast before, his personal skills hadn’t improved much yet.

The last practical teaching session made him realize that his culinary skills still had many gaps.

Unlike other skills, though he had some acquired personal skills, to truly cook a good dish, one must do it by hand, practice, and learn to master and control more subtly and precisely.

Fu Yu suddenly turned and asked, ”If we get someone to help, whose order does this count as?”

This question directly choked Tian Lei.

This on-site service definitely involves earning a service fee.

If Fu Yu took the order and then handed off the work to others, how would the payment be split at the end?

Actually, sometimes the music restaurant also received such on-site service orders.

The chefs generally brought a helper to assist.

Ingredients were taken from the store, but preparation work was always done by whoever took the order.

There’s never a situation of asking others for help.

Tian Lei suggested this only because he was really worried.

Fu Yu indeed had some abilities, having shown some skills before in the back kitchen.

Like this feast of eight dishes and eight bowls, which he led, and the innovative balloon plate presentation, which was also his work.

But to Tian Lei, these seemed more like clever tricks.

After all, at first, the main chef, Zhang Zhen, helped with some key dishes for the feast.

When Fu Yu first joined, he always followed beside Yao Shi, with the demeanor of an apprentice.

Now suddenly saying he wanted to take the order and provide on-site service by himself, Tian Lei felt quite uneasy.

If it were a highly skilled chef, typically taking a helper would be enough for on-site service.

But this time, he was designated to accompany.

The more Tian Lei thought about it, the more he felt worried about Fu Yu’s culinary skills.

After all, considering his age, being in his early twenties, the number of years standing over the stove is limited, just how good could his cooking skills be?

But Fu Yu’s straightforward words left Tian Lei momentarily unsure of how to respond.

After a while, Tian Lei awkwardly said, ”I actually haven’t been independently cooking for long. Now working under Chef Liu, I haven’t had the opportunity to do on-site services. I’m mainly worried that if anything happens, I won’t be able to handle it.”

”However, practice makes perfect, so if there’s work, let’s do it well!”

These words were both for Fu Yu and to encourage himself.

Afterward, Tian Lei helped Fu Yu prepare all the necessary ingredients, promptly contacting the purchaser for anything missing.

After sorting through the ingredients, Tian Lei calculated the materials and specific cooking steps for each dish in the feast and the time needed. The little confidence he had just mustered quickly disappeared again.

”Chef Fu, I surely can’t handle this feast. Just this stewed pork, if not simmered long enough, it won’t be flavorful. And the chicken mushroom soup powder, it must be served immediately after cooking, otherwise, it’ll get clumpy... I’m not very good with stews; I’m afraid I’ll hold you back!”

Fu Yu shook his head: ”You don’t need to cook, I’ll handle the main cooking, you just assist me.”

Hearing this, Tian Lei breathed a sigh of relief: ”Oh...”

Soon after, Tian Lei realized he was just there to assist; the main cooking was indeed up to Fu Yu.

He had perhaps thought too much.

At 2:30 in the afternoon, Fu Yu tidied up the things and took Tian Lei to Wang Nuannuan’s house.

The music restaurant also sent a dedicated car for them.

Such a lineup easily surpassed Qianlima by plenty!

Upon arriving at Wang Nuannuan’s house, looking at the high-end single-family villa with lavish decor, Tian Lei’s legs instantly went a bit weak.

He glanced at Fu Yu, only to see him calm and composed!

And a look at Wang Nuannuan, who was smiling to greet them, she too seemed quite calm and composed!

Sighing, it seemed only he couldn’t present himself well.

Fu Yu entered and first changed into his chef uniform.

When he came out of the restroom, Wang Nuannuan’s eyes glued to Fu Yu, reluctant to move away.

During their last meeting, she thought this young chef looked good. Who knew, up close now, he was really handsome!

Just for that face, tonight’s feast would surely be delicious!

Wang Nuannuan confidently took Fu Yu and Tian Lei to the kitchen, explained the layout of the tools and the serving time, then left.

Fu Yu began cooking.

For this feast of eight dishes and eight bowls, he already knew the fastest process for cooking and serving from his previous two rounds of trials.

With his skills increasing over this time, his culinary level had also improved, making operations more smooth and skilled.

Actually, this table of food, although it seems like a lot and the preparation is painstaking, the actual cooking only needs attention to two points.

Start with cold and stewed dishes; serve quick-to-table hot dishes first, the slower ones can come later.

Guests eat and serve dishes simultaneously, each dish can be eaten hot, right out of the pot, ensuring a better taste.

So, Fu Yu had the stews going while arranging for Tian Lei to prepare the cold dishes.

Cold dishes are mostly mixing and plating, not too complicated. Once Tian Lei finished, Fu Yu took over directly for cooking.

Fu Yu worked with great care, his movements were skillful, and his speed was astonishing; he knew every dish’s cooking method thoroughly, cooking one dish after another with a clear and systematic approach.

Initially, Tian Lei felt a bit nervous.

However, gradually, he discovered that Fu Yu’s cooking skills seemed quite impressive!

Especially in tossing and spinning the pan, controlling the heat and plating, his techniques were incredibly refined!

This left Tian Lei somewhat astonished.

Moreover, Fu Yu’s overall cooking process and timing for the dishes were impressively precise.

It’s important to know that while good cooking skills are vital in the kitchen, the speed of serving is equally important.

Clearly, Fu Yu excelled in both areas.

No wonder the owner trusted him enough for on-site service.

Tian Lei’s heart unknowingly settled down, growing increasingly at ease.
