The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

After taking a shower, Fu Yu returned to his room.

Feeling refreshed, he called home first.

His parents have been living quite comfortably lately.

Ever since Fu Yu became a permanent employee, the old couple subtly started to show off to their relatives and neighbors.

After all, Fu Yu didn’t do well in his studies back then and went straight to culinary school after the college entrance exams.

Relatives and neighbors didn’t say it to his face, but inside, they looked down on Fu Yu a bit.

A graduate from a culinary school, they thought he would just end up tossing pans in a restaurant, what kind of future could that be?

But now things are different.

Fu Yu went to Bei’an, joined the famous Qianlima Restaurant, and smoothly became a permanent staff member.

Not only did his salary increase, but his benefits improved too.

His parents’ faces were beaming, they would bring it up whenever they met people, and they enjoyed a few compliments.

After all, people are very practical these days; they don’t care about what specific job you have, they only look at your salary.

If you earn a lot, then you’re capable!

Today, Mrs. Fu had just contacted Fu Yu’s aunt and casually reminded Fu Yu not to forget to give her a call before hanging up.

After Fu Yu’s mother hung up, he called his aunt’s house.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, it was only right to send some regards.

As soon as Fu Yu dialed, the other side picked up quickly.

Fu Yu wasn’t very close with his aunt; when they were young, the two families interacted frequently and often gathered together.

Later, as they grew older and started their own lives, they only met during holidays, gradually growing apart.

”Hello?”

A clear male voice rang out, and Fu Yu recognized it as his cousin Lin Minghao.

”Minghao, it’s me.”

”Hey, bro! Wow, are you off work?”

Lin Minghao, being outgoing and articulate, recognized Fu Yu’s voice and sounded noticeably more enthusiastic.

”Yeah, I’m on the early shift today, you guys haven’t rested yet, right?”

Lin Minghao laughed, ”Nope! It’s still early! I’m now glued to the live streaming world every day; my routine’s long been flipped.”

Fu Yu: ”I heard from your mother that you changed your major?”

Lin Minghao said, ”Yeah, I changed to a live streaming major. I like it, and once I graduate, I plan to do live streams and sell goods. This field is really booming right now! I’m good at talking and not bad-looking. I’ll find some supply chains, build some popularity over a couple of years, and gradually it’ll take off.”

Lin Minghao, being stifled for a long time without someone to talk to, couldn’t help but spill it all out when he finally found a listening ear.

Fu Yu genuinely thought what Lin Minghao said made sense.

The live streaming industry is indeed quite hot right now, and if done well, it can really generate income.

But thinking about his aunt’s temper, Fu Yu asked, ”Can you withstand the pressure from your parents?”

Lin Minghao burst out laughing, ”Bro, don’t you know what my mom’s like? She’s always threatening to cut off my tuition and living expenses!”

”But it’s okay, she already transferred the money to my card in advance, and it’s definitely enough for the first year. Once I’m in college, I’ll use my free time to stream, and probably earn enough for my living expenses.”

”Plus, I heard there are student loans. If my mom really stops giving me money, I’ll just apply for them...”

Lin Minghao has always been determined, otherwise, he wouldn’t have secretly changed his major.

Hearing this, Fu Yu immediately said, ”If you need money, I have some here, I’ll give it to you.”

Even though Fu Yu wasn’t very wealthy, he was definitely in a better position than before.

Aside from his salary, he earned over ten thousand yuan just from completing tasks in the system, door-to-door services, and playing at the music restaurant.

This short month has brought in half a year’s worth of hard-earned salary.

Fu Yu felt somewhat sentimental.

Lin Minghao had heard about Fu Yu’s situation and knew he just became permanent.

But he also understood Fu Yu’s previous circumstances, and couldn’t help but laugh, ”Oh, come on, bro, you better save that money to be good to my mom! Don’t underestimate me now, in the future, I’ll definitely make big bucks...”

Listening to Lin Minghao’s vision for the future, Fu Yu sighed inwardly, with his gift of gab, he was certainly suited to be a live streamer.

The two chatted for a while, and after Lin Minghao had his fill, he called over his parents. Fu Yu exchanged pleasantries, chatted some more, and finally ended the call.

Afterward, Fu Yu transferred two thousand yuan to Lin Minghao over WeChat.

This was just the money he earned from a door-to-door service the day before, and Yang Zhifang was indeed generous.

He had prepared two red envelopes, totaling four thousand yuan.

As soon as Fu Yu transferred the money, Lin Minghao returned the favor and sent back two thousand yuan.

Fu Yu found it amusing yet frustrating; neither of them accepted the money, and by tomorrow, it would probably be back in their accounts.

Oh well, it’s fine, the kid does have some pride!

Before bed, Fu Yu received a notification from Zhao Meng, telling him to take a day off tomorrow and help out at the music restaurant.

Zhao Meng had been resting for two consecutive days, and Yao Shi had to stay at Qianlima to handle orders.

His team hadn’t had a break yet.

Now, the boss announced that with the festival approaching, anyone with plans should take their time off, but on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone must be on duty, no excuses allowed.

Having gotten the news, Zhao Meng was quick to give Fu Yu a day off.

Fu Yu had been working the hardest these past couple of days, not just working nonstop but also securing a lot of orders.

Zhao Meng noticed this, and when good things came up, the first person he thought of was Fu Yu.

He reported the day-off arrangements to Yao Shi, and Yao Shi immediately suggested Fu Yu help at the music restaurant.

Zhao Meng wanted to advocate for Fu Yu.

After all, finally having a day off, and if he went to the music restaurant, would that be considered resting?

Zhao Meng said, ”I was thinking Fu Yu has been exhausted these days; he should take a breather.”

Yao Shi chuckled mysteriously, ”Come over here, I’ll tell you.”

”What?”

”Well, about this thing...”

”You mean...”

”So and so… this and that...”

Zhao Meng understood the whole matter and exclaimed, ”What? You mean that rich lady came back again?”

...

Liu Yici helped her best friend Qin Yue arrange two eight-dish eight-bowl banquets.

Qin Yue’s in-laws were very touched.

Due to this, the two families are now as close as one, interacting frequently, with deepening affection.

After her son’s engagement banquet was completed, Qin Yue finally had some downtime and quickly invited Liu Yici to go shopping and have a beauty treatment together.

Afterward, she even arranged for someone to help purchase a limited-edition designer handbag.

This handbag wasn’t outrageously expensive; it was just that it was hard to come by.

It was a limited edition, not easily snatched up.

After receiving the bag, Liu Yici wasted no time snapping a couple of photos.

One was a close-up of the bag, and the other was a photo of herself with the bag.

She used beauty filters, smoothed out her skin, and applied various photo edits.

Then she carefully worded a post for her social media circle:

[Thank you to my beautiful bestie, Da Mei Yue, for the bag! Friendship isn’t measured by price but by the heart. A lifelong friend, unchanging in this life.]

She clicked ’Post’ with satisfaction.

As she viewed the latest post displayed on her social media, Liu Yici gleefully read it over twenty times.
