The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

We did it!

We actually did it!

Fu Yu flawlessly completed the four-course meal with just one fish!

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

That feeling of narrowly escaping disaster made Gu Yunwu shiver instinctively.

As for Yao Shi, he felt accomplished, like a talent scout training a potential talent to success.

Slicing fish for sashimi is simple, but to quickly and accurately slice it to 0.5mm in thickness while ensuring that two slices of fish remain connected is very difficult!

It requires not only extremely nimble hands but also a solid and steady cutting skill.

No one expected that Fu Yu would indeed succeed in saving the day and complete the Shunde Fish Sashimi, a feat even seasoned chefs like Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu found challenging.

Yao Shi felt both emotional and immensely grateful.

Thankfully, he was decisive enough.

And thankfully, he had a keen eye for people!

In any case, the table of dishes was handled smoothly.

Gu Yunwu couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Xiaofu, you did a fantastic job! These sashimi slices are beautifully cut!”

Gu Yunwu had worked in the kitchen for about twenty years, and his culinary skills are quite solid, especially his knife skills, having practiced diligently for many years, making him quite adept in this field.

So he could see just how perfectly and exquisitely Fu Yu had performed just now!

Looking at Fu Yu’s slender and distinct fingers, Gu Yunwu couldn’t help but feel a bit envious.

Culinary skills really do require talent.

Gu Yunwu can’t help but glance at Yao Yihang who was buried in stirring the wok.

Well, at least diligence can compensate for clumsiness!

As for judging people...

Gu Yunwu decided to stop by the pharmacy to buy two boxes of cod liver oil to improve his eyesight after work.

Yao Shi also smiled and praised, ”Fu Yu, you did well! Very good!”

Fu Yu laughed.

Mission accomplished!

At the same time...

In private room 401.

A big shot was smiling and saying, ”If you want to taste authentic Shunde Fish Sashimi in our province, you can only come here!”

The wealthy businessman was a bit surprised, ”Oh? Is the taste authentic?”

The big shot said somewhat proudly, ”I can’t say it’s a complete replica, but there’s basically no difference.”

The businessman showed interest immediately, ”I only heard Mr. Cai mention Shunde Fish Sashimi before, saying it was exceptionally delicious. Later, I had a chance to try it during a business trip there, and indeed, it was meaty yet smooth, perfectly delicious.”

The big shot nodded, ”Exactly, from ingredient selection, bleeding, cutting skills, seasonings, to plating and the moment it enters your mouth, everything is critical. It’s because of these meticulous details that a fish can be made so perfectly.”

While the two spoke, servers continually brought out several dishes to the table.

The big shot glanced at them, then cheerfully invited, ”Come, try the fish skin. Their dipping sauce is a secret recipe, and it’s particularly flavorful!”

The businessman picked up a piece of fish skin with his chopsticks, dipped it in the sauce, and put it in his mouth.

As he slurped it down, an indescribable rich aroma filled his mouth.

After chewing a couple of times, the fish skin was indeed well-prepared, making the most out of the bouncy texture, with a lot of taste.

The big shot also picked a piece of salt and pepper fish bone that was closer to him.

The outer layer of this fish bone was fried to a fragrant crispness, and the fish meat clinging to the bone was tender and delicate.

The combination of textures was wonderfully delightful!

The businessman tasted this dish as well and couldn’t help but praise it repeatedly.

The big shot felt the glory of success, knowing today’s dining arrangement was a big hit.

At this moment, the condiments for the Shunde Fish Sashimi began to be served one after the other.

An array of small plates and bowls came out, not fewer than ten types in total.

The businessman saw the setup and laughed, ”Seeing these condiments reminds me of the time I had sashimi at Jinghong Restaurant in Shunde. It was just like this, with a variety all across the table. The first time I went, I thought they were complimentary starters.”

The big shot laughed as well, ”That’s why their sashimi is good; a glance at the premium pure peanut oil tells you it’s the most traditional and authentic way to enjoy it.”

Soon afterward, the main dish, Shunde Fish Sashimi, was finally served.

This time, neither of them hesitated, both eagerly reaching out with their chopsticks to pick up the fish.

To eat sashimi, the fresher the better; the taste and texture within the first 10 minutes are the most satisfying.

The businessman picked up a slice of fish, and the other piece lifted along with it. In the light, the sashimi slice looked like chiffon, butterfly wings, and white snow, as translucent and tender as a young girl’s skin.

The businessman sincerely said, ”The chef at Qianlima, their skill is incredible!”

This Shunde Fish Sashimi is not only a challenge in fish preparation but also serves as a ”truth mirror” for the sashimi chef.

It can fully reveal the craftsmanship and experience without missing any detail.

Those who know can tell from these slightly pink sashimi slices, transparent without excess fat, just by one look.

The big shot skillfully combined various fresh condiments together, picked a slice of sashimi, and evenly dipped it in a porcelain bowl.

”May we prosper like the whirlwind and the water rise!”

The big shot smiled and said, ”I hope our cooperation will be as favorable as the good fortune brought by this sashimi, flourishing and prosperous!”

The businessman also mixed his condiments and put the sashimi slice into his mouth.

The thin, translucent sashimi slice gleamed, with a tender and resilient texture, cool and smooth, mingling with various fresh condiments to create an intertwining of flavors on the tongue—delicate, sweet, fragrant, tender, crisp, smooth... bursting with flavor and long-lasting aftertaste!

The businessman squinted contentedly and nodded with a smile, ”Exactly!”

Raising his wine glass, he said, ”To our pleasant cooperation and fulfilling partnership!”

A sip of aged wine brings out the full sweetness of the fish, making it truly irresistible!

After savoring two plates of sashimi, slurping some fish skin, and gnawing on some fish bones.

Finally, savoring a small bowl of steaming fish porridge.

The porridge was dense, absorbing the sweetness of the fish meat.

Four flavors from one fish, each exquisite.

This meal wrapped up perfectly.

As the big shot departed, he casually praised Dong Jun Tian, who was courteously seeing him off, ”If we want a taste of authentic Shunde Fish Sashimi, we have to come here!”

Dong Jun Tian beamed with joy, personally escorting the two from the side entrance, watching them drive away before happily heading back inside.

On his way in, he pulled out his phone and called Yao Shi.

Listening to Dong Jun Tian’s praise, Yao Shi chuckled and responded, hanging up the phone, and then looked over at Fu Yu with satisfaction.

Yao Shi was both proud and happy.

Fu Yu is a chef under his charge, the apprentice of Zhao Meng, in his eyes, like his own.

How could he not be proud if his people are outstanding?

Yao Shi appreciated Fu Yu even more and, after putting away his phone, he said, ”Today, the dishes on this table are all yours. If there’s anything you’re unsure about, just ask—such opportunities are rare! In my life, the times I’ve had to be careful have been very few.”

Fu Yu nodded, quietly going back to his cooking station to continue taking orders, occasionally coming over to assist Yao Shi.

Indeed, as Yao Shi said, such an opportunity to receive direct instruction is truly rare.

Especially since Fu Yu discovered that Yao Shi often shares invaluable experiences when teaching him.

These are lessons Yao Shi learned the hard way.

Fu Yu benefited greatly from it.
