The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Completely unaware that Zhao Meng had already become more vigilant and cautious of him,

Gu Yunwu was in a very good mood at the moment.

In just a short lunch break, he had already mapped out his career development path for the next five to ten years.

As soon as Yao Shi let go of the matters at Qianlima, Gu Yunwu would immediately take charge.

Once he became the head chef, he planned to promote Fu Yu to the position of executive chef, making him a major asset under his command.

By then, like Yao Shi, he would also save some money and dabble in some side businesses.

With this thought, he suddenly found everything in front of him very satisfying.

As for whether Fu Yu would be willing to follow him in the future?

Gu Yunwu hadn’t even considered this issue.

After all, people strive to climb higher.

Which newly regularized employee doesn’t want to be promoted to the position of executive chef?

If they don’t have any such aspirations, then they’re destined to not achieve much!

Thinking of this, Gu Yunwu couldn’t help but walk more lightly.

On his way back, he happened to see Yao Yihang just about to go for lunch.

Gu Yunwu smiled spiritedly: ”Xiao Yao, just in time, I have something to ask you.”

Whenever Yao Yihang faced Gu Yunwu, he inevitably felt a bit nervous.

Now being questioned by Gu Yunwu, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and respond: ”Boss, what’s up?”

Since there was no one else around, Gu Yunwu asked, ”Have all the customer orders for the past few days been arranged? What’s the timing? It’s best to spread them out as much as possible, because on the festival day, there will certainly be a lot of shift orders that need to be taken, and if we can’t keep up, it might delay things.”

Yao Yihang thought: It’s a disaster, over two days, only two orders have been received, and there’s just a small table booking. And that’s not all, the crucial thing is that an old customer, who had originally agreed, backed out at the last moment!

Thinking of this, Yao Yihang felt a bitter taste at the tip of his tongue, unable to open his mouth.

How was he supposed to explain this?

Faced with Gu Yunwu’s questioning gaze,

Yao Yihang’s heart sank to the bottom. Whatever, let it be!

Yao Yihang took a deep breath and said hoarsely, ”Boss, I had told the customers particularly well before, and they had all agreed to pay the deposit, but... when I checked the orders later, I found out that they hadn’t paid, nor did they choose to book with us.”

Gu Yunwu asked surprised, ”What happened?”

Mentioning this matter, Yao Yihang also felt very aggrieved.

He believed he had been exceptionally diligent in attracting customers.

Not only did he explain things in great detail, but he also answered questions readily, maintaining the best possible attitude.

Yet in the end, the orders slipped away.

Yao Yihang felt bitter and shook his head: ”Boss, I also don’t know...”

Gu Yunwu frowned: ”Forget it, if it rains, it rains, and if customers want to take their business elsewhere, that’s unavoidable. Maybe the shop’s events were organized too hastily, and it was so early in the timeline—who would want to wander around at such a time for no reason...”

But Yao Yihang said, ”However, yesterday when I went to the front desk to verify the orders, I discovered that for two customers, who had originally agreed to place orders with us and had even selected their dishes, they ended up paying and placing their orders with Chef Zhao!”

Upon hearing this, Gu Yunwu fell silent.

Not explaining was one thing, but when this was explained, it just made him infuriated!

Whether a customer wants to pay and place an order is their business.

But with this explanation, it totally changed the meaning!

Turns out Zhao Meng poached our customers?

And stole them away?

Who could hear this and not get angry!

You were sent out to advertise and attract guests, but instead, you let the people on Zhao Meng’s side intercept them halfway?

Do you not have a brain, or are you blind?

Even after the orders were placed, you let them get snatched away, how dumb can you be to let that happen??

Gu Yunwu looked at Yao Yihang with disappointment, words at the tip of his tongue that he barely managed to swallow.

He wanted to say, Xiao Yao, you’ve been surviving in the kitchen for so many years, finally becoming regular, and with a few more years of experience, as long as he could become head chef, the executive chef position would surely be yours soon enough.

Yet now you can’t even compare to those on Zhao Meng’s side in terms of attracting customers?

The more Gu Yunwu thought, the more he regretted!

This Yao Yihang used to seem pretty smart and resourceful, pretty good at handling things, right?

Why has he started making more and more blunders lately?

Gu Yunwu took a breath, waiting to calm down a bit, then asked, ”If it were new customers, that’s one thing, it’s not like it hasn’t happened before. But what about the old customers? Didn’t I tell you to keep in contact with a few as backups?”

Yao Yihang said helplessly, ”Boss, I contacted them. It was hard to get one customer to agree to place an order, and he even came in person. I watched him order the dishes, and specifically had the order taker accompany him to place the order inside the shop, but then he turned around and went to Chef Zhao’s side to pay and place the order.”

Hearing this, Gu Yunwu suddenly felt it difficult to breathe!

He couldn’t suppress his scolding: ”Xiao Yao! I really am... sigh! I don’t know what to say about you! This is so disappointing!”

Gu Yunwu never expected to lose yet another customer.

Thinking of the previous orders he had unwittingly given over to Zhao Meng, his heart ached unbearably.

”That old customer even came by, how could you not have followed through for the deposit?”

This duck was already in the mouth, and you still let it escape!

Seriously!!

Thinking about it made Gu Yunwu furious.

Without comparison, there’s no difference!

In fact, if it weren’t for Yao Yihang’s detailed introduction, customers wouldn’t have understood the dishes so well, making it so quick and easy for them to switch orders at the end.

The more Gu Yunwu looked at Yao Yihang, the more disappointed he felt.

What’s the use of just working with your head down?

Diligence can make up for lack of talent, thrift can make up for poverty, but what can you do if the brain isn’t being used, and the natural talent is mediocre?

The more Gu Yunwu thought about it, the more he regretted it, feeling like he must have been blinded by lard back then, choosing this guy from a bunch of newbies.

If only...

If only the person selected back then had been Fu Yu, how great it would have been?

It would have been worth some good cultivation.

Gu Yunwu couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.

Looking at Yao Yihang, who was at a loss and flushed red from his scolding words, Gu Yunwu felt quite regretful inside.

However, what’s done is done, and saying more is pointless.

This incident did serve as a wake-up call for him.

The next time the boss holds a meeting, he’ll definitely have to bring this up.

Even if activities are conducted by two groups, they are working for the same shop after all.

No matter how much Zhao Meng wants to boost his performance, he shouldn’t be poaching customers from my side, right?

Especially the old customers, they are resources he had painstakingly built up.

To let them be snatched away just like that, how’s that different from stealing money from his pocket?

That’s just not how things should be done!

Gu Yunwu made up his mind that he had to get the boss’s support on this.

You just can’t bully people like this!
