The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

But since these things are in the past, if no one mentions them, they’ll be forgotten.

However, Sun Qingning bringing it up in public now makes the words feel a bit sour.

Yao Yihang looked at Sun Qingning, hiding the chill in his eyes, and smiled, ”I’ve been too busy with work lately, but I was planning to schedule something in the next few days.”

Sun Qingning also smiled and said no more.

Fu Yu shook his head.

In life, there are many people like this.

They can’t stand others being better than themselves.

If you’re not doing as well as them, they won’t help you; instead, they look down on you.

If you’re doing better than them, they envy and resent you, finding every opportunity to criticize and belittle you.

In short, they can’t stand others being stronger than them.

Then, in the next second, an electronic notification suddenly sounded in Fu Yu’s ear:

[Ding! NPC Chef Yao Yihang’s favorability -5]

Fu Yu: ”!”

Damn it!!

This is a bit too much!

Sun Qingning gives you a hard time, and you take it out on me?

Buddy, that’s really not cool.

But on second thought, the favorability factor is quite useful!

You may know a person’s face but not their heart.

Being able to clearly see how others feel about you at least provides some defense.

Zhang Jiaxin, who had been silent all along, raised his hand and patted Fu Yu on the shoulder.

Fu Yu turned his head and saw Zhang Jiaxin smile faintly before turning and walking away first.

...

After work that evening, Fu Yu especially went out to buy a few bottles of beer.

Zhao Meng brought out a plate of peanuts and a plate of lemon chicken feet from the kitchen.

The two of them drank beer and ate roast duck.

Fu Yu habitually reported his experiences at the music restaurant to Zhao Meng truthfully.

Zhao Meng was quite pleased and advised him, ”When you go over there again, make sure you work hard. Chef Yao seems easygoing but is actually observant. For him to grow the business so big and run it smoothly, he must be pretty capable!”

Fu Yu nodded: ”Don’t worry, I understand!”

With a bottle of beer down, the atmosphere became more relaxed, and they started talking more.

In front of Zhao Meng, Fu Yu always spoke his mind.

The topic naturally touched on what happened that night.

However, this time Zhao Meng didn’t say much to him.

Being overly naive is not a praiseworthy virtue but a sign of limited experience and knowledge.

Many people need to suffer some losses and grievances to gradually grow and become stronger.

Zhao Meng hoped Fu Yu could be more assertive and learn to handle these matters on his own.

Not that he wanted him to actually counter anyone or fight,

but hoped that even in a complex environment, he could carve out a space for himself.

And not be forced to constantly retreat.

If it comes to that, what would he do when there’s nowhere left to retreat?

Though Zhao Meng isn’t particularly shrewd or outstanding,

he still tries to slowly impart his life experiences to this disciple of his.

Hoping he could lead a smoother path, make fewer mistakes, and suffer less.

In Zhao Meng’s eyes, the trivial matters involving Yao Yihang were just petty squabbles.

What truly concerned him were the more complicated people and things that might appear in the future.

Zhao Meng sighed inwardly and comforted, ”Don’t fret about it. Since you know what kind of person he is, keep your distance in the future.”

Fu Yu nodded: ”You’re right, after all, people who are despicable will get what’s coming to them! The kind of people I hate the most are these petty ones!”

Zhao Meng, seeing Fu Yu’s carefree demeanor, couldn’t help but shake his head with a half-smile.

This kid, really doesn’t hold back anything from him!

With a comforting feeling, Zhao Meng tore off a duck leg and placed it in Fu Yu’s bowl.

After a bit of beer, Fu Yu slept well that night.

The next day, he was busy all morning.

Just after the lunch rush, Fu Yu received a call from Yao Shi.

”Fu Yu, if you’re not busy now, come out for a meal; someone’s treating.”

Fu Yu was puzzled and asked, ”Who is treating?”

Yao Shi chuckled and explained, ”Yang Zhifang’s brother-in-law, Xu Xu. Didn’t he have a Four Seas Banquet’s chef cook at the Yang Family before? He was quite embarrassed by that and specially asked me to invite you out for a meal.”

Fu Yu suddenly understood and nodded: ”Alright, when should I head out?”

Yao Shi said, ”Now, change your clothes and head straight to the parking lot; the car is parked at the entrance.”

Fu Yu hung up the phone and let Zhao Meng know.

In life, social interactions are inevitable.

Yang Zhifang’s brother-in-law wanted to invite him for a meal, probably because his cooking skills pleased Elder Yang back then.

More friends mean more paths, and since Yao Shi is asking him to go, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Yao Shi is especially skilled in this area, managing to make friends with both customers in the shop and many peers he’s interacted with.

Fu Yu thought it would be worthwhile to learn and borrow from this way of socializing.

The kitchen staff, generally whether they stayed in the dorm or not, would have lunch in the shop.

Unless occasionally they craved something different and would buy food on their own outside.

For lunch, Fu Yu usually dined with Zhao Meng and Sun Qingning.

Sun Qingning hurriedly packed his things and came over to put his arm around Fu Yu’s shoulder: ”Chef Fu, let’s go eat!”

Fu Yu said: ”You go with Chef Zhao, I have something at noon.”

Fu Yu changed out of his work clothes and hurried to the parking lot, only to find that the car parked there wasn’t Yao Shi’s but a black Land Rover.

Seeing Fu Yu, Yao Shi waved from inside the car.

The Land Rover, being quite large, was conspicuous parked at the entrance of the parking lot.

Yao Yihang, coming out to buy something, passed by the parking lot and, from a distance, noticed the imposing Land Rover, naturally feeling a bit envious and admiring.

As he walked closer, he saw Fu Yu circle around from the front and directly open the rear door to get in.

Yao Yihang paused in his steps, looking incredulously at the scene before him.

Yao Yihang was aware of Fu Yu’s personal circumstances, knowing his family was from out of town and had no relatives or friends locally.

This...

What’s up with the car...

Yao Yihang furrowed his brows, pondering when Fu Yu got to know such a wealthy person?

The reality before him was quite challenging for Yao Yihang to accept.

He watched as the Land Rover started moving.

Suddenly, a light bulb went off, could it be...

Fu Yu was off to another door-to-door service?

With this thought, Yao Yihang hurriedly pulled out his phone and snapped several photos of the Land Rover.

Once he ensured the license plate number was clear in the pictures, he carefully saved them.

Putting his phone away, Yao Yihang couldn’t help looking once more at the Land Rover, now merged into traffic.

Only when the Land Rover completely disappeared did he turn and head back to the restaurant.
