The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Everything becomes easier with familiarity.

Yesterday morning, when Fu Yu participated in the small gift distribution activity, he felt a bit uneasy, but by the next day, he was handling it with ease.

The order taker and the waiter worked hard to persuade a pedestrian to come over and learn about the reservation campaign.

Fu Yu quickly teamed up with Sun Qingning, working together to find ways to keep the person there.

Registering is one thing; the main goal is to ensure the customer enters and makes a deposit.

If the money isn’t in, and they run away, half a day’s effort would be all wasted.

Fu Yu was very diligent, and Sun Qingning cooperated well.

With Fu Yu’s charm and Sun Qingning’s eloquence, they successfully signed three orders.

Fu Yu was very pleased with this.

Two table reservations mean 24 yuan, with him and Zhao Meng splitting it evenly, earning 12 yuan in such a short time.

Seeing that only an hour had passed, Fu Yu became even more motivated to promote!

While he was busy, he suddenly heard a commotion in front of him.

He looked up.

A private car had just parked nearby.

A sophisticated middle-aged woman quickly got out from the driver’s seat.

She got out of the car, went around to the passenger side, and helped an elderly man who was banging on the window out of the car.

The elderly man was visibly agitated and, as soon as he got out, headed straight for the entrance of Qianlima Restaurant.

The middle-aged woman hurriedly looped one arm around the elderly man’s arm, while frantically closing the car door with the other.

”Dad! Hold on! No need to rush! Let me lock the car first!!”

The old man was only focused on moving forward, ignoring the middle-aged woman.

The middle-aged woman struggled to lock the car and then held on to the man, accompanying him forward.

As they walked, the middle-aged woman couldn’t help but complain, ”Why are you in such a hurry? We’re already here, aren’t we? Also, we just came to this place not long ago, why do you want to come again....”

As she spoke, the old man suddenly stopped, turning to look steadfastly beside him.

The middle-aged woman followed his gaze and saw someone familiar sitting at the promotional table at the entrance of Qianlima Restaurant.

Fu Yu instantly recognized them; they were the father and daughter who had visited the restaurant a few days ago wanting to eat braised elderfish.

The middle-aged woman also recognized Fu Yu but didn’t greet him; instead, she turned to look at the old man.

The old man stared intently at Fu Yu, not moving, standing there quietly.

The middle-aged woman tentatively asked, ”Dad? Are you hungry? Want to eat something?”

The old man didn’t react at first, but upon hearing ”eat something,” he immediately became excited, stepping toward Fu Yu.

The middle-aged woman was caught off guard and nearly stumbled, quickly regaining her balance and rushing to catch up.

The old man walked straight to Fu Yu and stared at him fixedly.

Fu Yu, being looked at like this, was not annoyed; he figured the old man must still be thinking about the braised elderfish.

Seeing him now, he must be wanting fish.

Sure enough, the old man looked carefully at Fu Yu, then suddenly banged the table hard with his hand.

The middle-aged woman rushed forward to stop him, ”Dad! Don’t bang! If you want to eat, let’s go inside and eat! Don’t make a scene here!”

The old man just mumbled and shouted at Fu Yu, ignoring the woman’s attempts to intervene.

Fu Yu, seeing the old man’s reaction, felt more assured!

The old man was definitely after that dish of braised elderfish; when Fu Yu showed him the menu earlier, he remembered.

Thinking of this, Fu Yu greeted the old man with a smile, ”Sir, do you still recognize me? Are you here for the fish again?”

The old man was banging on the table, but upon hearing ”fish,” he paused, then resumed hitting the table with even more force, shouting louder.

The middle-aged woman, feeling both embarrassed and helpless, noticed people starting to gather, hurriedly said flusteredly, ”Okay! Dad, if you want to eat, let’s go inside and eat! Please stop banging!”

The old man finally responded, turned, and headed for the restaurant but took just two steps before looking back at Fu Yu.

By the looks of it, he clearly wanted Fu Yu to follow.

The middle-aged woman, seeing no other option, had to soften her tone and ask Fu Yu, ”Could you please come with us inside?”

Fu Yu cheerfully nodded, stood up, and accompanied them into the restaurant.

The middle-aged woman heaved a genuine sigh of relief and couldn’t help but cast another glance at the young chef.

Ever since their last visit to Qianlima for that dish his father craved, their home had been restless.

Whenever it was mealtime, the old man would throw tantrums, smashing several dishes and bowls. The whole family went to great lengths just to coax him to eat a little more.

That morning, he had another episode, eventually only having a sip of eight-treasure porridge.

The middle-aged woman saw it wasn’t working and decided to take him out for a drive.

She planned to visit the food market on Walking Street, hoping there’d be something that caught his eye and he’d take a few bites, and she’d be grateful.

Unexpectedly, as the car passed by the Qianlima Restaurant, the old man seemed to recognize the place and began banging on the car window, insisting on getting out.

Once people get old, their personalities can somewhat resemble children’s.

Now, with this illness, he had to be treated like a very young child, coaxed and persuaded.

The middle-aged woman was very filial, and they were well-off, so she wanted to do whatever would make the old man happy.

Since the father wanted to eat Qianlima’s food, they’d let him have it.

The middle-aged woman didn’t hesitate to spend money on this.

It was a time when no customers had arrived, and they were the first.

The order taker pretended to lead them in selecting dishes, but the middle-aged woman familiarized herself quickly, directing, ”No need, we’ll order directly from the menu.”

The order taker quickly fetched the menu.

The middle-aged woman coaxed, ”Dad, take a look and see what you’d like to eat?”

The old man glanced at the menu but didn’t react.

The middle-aged woman hesitated for a moment and then looked at Fu Yu, who was with them, ”Could you please bring out the menu we used last time?”

Fu Yu nodded and told the order taker, ”Bring an old-fashioned menu, please.”

Shortly, the order taker returned with the menu.

The old man saw the menu and finally responded, reaching out to start flipping pages.

He flipped quickly, several pages at a time, covering them and flipping straight through from beginning to end in no time.

As soon as the menu closed, the old man got agitated again, starting to pat the table.

With a quick eye and hand, Fu Yu hurriedly flipped to the page with the sauce dish photo for the old man to see.

Sure enough, as soon as the old man saw the picture of the braised elderfish, he immediately cheered up, babbling excitedly.

Seeing this, the middle-aged woman frowned slightly, hesitated, and then asked Fu Yu, ”Which dish was the elderfish you mentioned last time?”

Fu Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, she was a dutiful daughter; it seemed the old man’s wish would likely be fulfilled.
