The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The next few dishes were all cooked by Fu Yu.

During mealtime, there were many orders, so the back kitchen had to speed up the plating.

Sun Qingning was still inexperienced, unable to keep up with the pace.

Fu Yu was becoming more adept at cooking, able to make almost all dishes as soon as he picked them up, and not only could he make them, but he could make them well, with precision.

This kind of skillful and practiced technique was something Sun Qingning learned by watching on the side, feeling invigorated.

The more Sun Qingning watched, the more impressed and envious he became.

He realized that Fu Yu’s culinary skills might have already surpassed Zhao Meng’s.

For the same dish, Fu Yu could make two, while Zhao Meng might have just finished one.

Moreover, Fu Yu was very precise in controlling the steps of cooking each dish.

He could cook several dishes at the same time, using all his spare time efficiently, ensuring everything was perfectly timed.

With faster cooking, the time to serve naturally shortens, and the number of orders taken can correspondingly increase.

This method of saving time and serving dishes quickly was especially beneficial during peak order times, as it balanced the number of orders with the speed of serving.

Sun Qingning secretly admired this.

Fu Yu was truly remarkable.

Achieving this not only required excellent cooking skills but also demanded extremely keen allocation and coordination abilities. Most importantly, one had to be thoroughly familiar with the cooking methods of all the restaurant’s dishes.

It would take the ability to make any dish with eyes closed.

Sun Qingning was now utterly impressed with Fu Yu, almost revering him.

During rush hour in the kitchen, work was nonstop, only easing when there were fewer customers.

Before closing time at night, Yao Shi paid a visit.

Zhao Meng was on the early shift today.

After the shift change, Yao Shi took the opportunity to speak with Fu Yu in private.

”Take a rest tomorrow; I like the Golden Silk Egg Dish you created today. We could even promote it as a new dish at the Music Restaurant.”

Due to its unique look, the Egg Dish was usually promoted as a banquet set at the Music Restaurant.

Yao Shi was instantly intrigued when he saw the photo Zhao Meng sent over.

The addition of an egg made the dish presentation even more exquisite!

Even though it was just an egg added, the price could be doubled, if not tripled. As a businessman and restaurant owner, Yao Shi’s first reaction was to negotiate with Fu Yu about also selling this innovative dish to the Music Restaurant.

He was willing to pay for the idea.

A sale is a sale regardless of to whom.

Yao Shi wanted to buy, and Fu Yu readily agreed.

However, Fu Yu was unsure about Yao Shi’s thoughts, though he did worry for him.

Mainly because there are no secrets in this circle.

He just developed the Golden Silk Egg Dish, and if the Music Restaurant started promoting it immediately, what would happen when the boss found out?

So, Fu Yu specially browsed through the special family banquet recipes.

He indeed found a cooking method to prevent the two restaurants’ dishes from being exactly the same.

”Chef Yao, if the Music Restaurant is to innovate on this dish, I do have an idea that could make it even more refined in taste and appearance.”

Yao Shi immediately took interest: ”Oh? Let’s hear it.”

Fu Yu explained the method from the special family banquet recipes.

Yao Shi was delighted upon hearing it: ”You quick thinker! Indeed, using winter melon instead of bamboo shoots adds more flavor to the soup.”

Fu Yu suggested using winter melon instead of bamboo shoots.

This dish originally required a chef’s knife skills, and replacing bamboo shoots with the harder-to-slice winter melon set an even higher standard.

Yao Shi didn’t mind: ”At the Music Restaurant, two unassuming assistants have extraordinary knife skills.”

That’s mainly because they handle large banquet orders.

Prepping ingredients is key there.

Assistants usually start with miscellaneous tasks in the back kitchen, then move on to chopping and prepping ingredients.

With the large number of ingredients needed during cooking, their knife skills naturally improved over the year, with the talented ones graduating to chefs.

Yao Shi chuckled: ”Perfect, go over tomorrow and teach them how to make the Golden Silk Egg Dish.”

Fu Yu hadn’t taken his day off this week, so this was a good opportunity to take one day off.

Fu Yu agreed easily: ”Alright, I’ll go tomorrow.”

Yao Shi chuckled: ”I’ll still pay you at the innovation rate for this dish. While teaching the method for making the Golden Silk Egg Dish, you’ll also be paid hourly, at 100 per hour.”

Fu Yu laughed.

The Golden Silk Egg Dish was already familiar to the Music Restaurant’s chefs.

The addition of one egg and changing the bamboo shoot—they probably wouldn’t need any teaching, just explaining would suffice.

Fu Yu knew Yao Shi was looking out for him in a roundabout way.

So he nodded with a smile: ”Thank you, Chef Yao!”

In Fu Yu’s mind, he intended to eventually work at the Music Restaurant with Zhao Meng, and he made special efforts whenever he went there.

He was careful with both work and social interactions.

After finalizing the plans for tomorrow, Yao Shi added: ”I’ve already mentioned your innovative Golden Silk Egg Dish to the boss, and he agreed to give you an innovation bonus, which will be added to your salary. When the new menu is released, the dish will be officially promoted.”

Fu Yu was quite pleased.

He earned twice as much for one dish’s idea.

Not bad.

However, he thought of something and asked: ”Chef Yao, this innovative Egg Dish is called Golden Silk Egg Dish here, what about at the Music Restaurant?”

After all, replacing just one ingredient is essentially the same dish.

If we don’t change the name, wouldn’t it be inappropriate?

Yao Shi smiled slightly: ”Oh, no worries, I’ve already thought of a name. Here it’s the Golden Silk Egg Dish, and there it’ll be called the Auspicious Egg Dish.”

Fu Yu thought it over and understood.

A name resembling a happy family theme, indeed fittingly festive.

After talking with Yao Shi, Fu Yu took out his phone to call Zhao Meng.

Today was an early shift, with the back kitchen having another hour before dinner time.

He wanted to treat Zhao Meng to a meal, having just earned two fees for his idea.

However, when he called, Zhao Meng said he had an engagement tonight.

Fu Yu jokingly asked: ”Chef Zhao, are you going to dine with your wife?”

Zhao Meng, just seeing Yao Shi and about to greet him, nearly choked on his own spit.

”Cough cough... What nonsense! I’m having dinner with Chef Yao, alright, not saying more.”

Zhao Meng hung up, hugging a bottle of 888 wine, which Fu Yu had gifted him.

He planned to use it to win Yao Shi’s favor, treating it as a gift re-gifted.
