The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

When the food runner sent back the dishes used by the customer, Fu Yu already knew that the old man finally got to eat the long-awaited braised old head fish.

Just as Fu Yu was feeling pleased, he heard Yao Shi shout: ”Fu Yu! Come over here, quickly!!”

”He’s calling you, hurry up!”

Zhao Meng had just finished plating and instructed Zhang Jinyu to hand the dish to the food runner, while he quickly stepped over to take over Fu Yu’s task.

”Got it!”

Fu Yu responded, hurried over to Yao Shi’s side, still feeling a bit curious.

Why the sudden call? What’s going on?

At this moment, Yao Shi was looking at the fish on the chopping board with a face full of regret and helplessness.

Daily hunting geese, only for the goose to peck his eye.

While slicing the fish meat earlier, an inch of strength slipped in his hand, and the tip of the knife slid right over his finger.

He could blame it on the two extra glasses of wine he had during socializing last night; now the drunkenness hadn’t completely faded, leaving his brain muddled and his hands not fully obedient.

But unfortunately, the Shunde Fish Sashimi method required both quick and steady knife skills, he focused only on speed and failed to maintain the steadiness.

Watching the pristine white fish meat soaked in blood, the whole fish was wasted.

Yao Shi rarely felt a bit distressed.

Not because of the compensation for the ingredients, but because all the previous effort had been in vain.

This Qianlima’s Shunde Fish Sashimi uses quality sea bass weighing about 750 grams as the ingredient.

After purchasing it, he lets it swim in spring water for a few days to deplete its body fat, making the fish meat firm and delicious.

Killing the fish also tests one’s skills.

Just for today’s table, Yao Shi had starved the sea bass for several days beforehand, now everything was ready, but his side unexpectedly dropped the ball.

Fortunately, his cautious nature always worried about such situations, so he usually starves two sea basses simultaneously, as a precaution.

And now, it’s coming in handy.

With Yao Shi’s hand injured, Gu Yunwu, who happened to be idle nearby, noticed and quickly handed him a tissue.

Taking another look at the blood-stained fish meat, Gu Yunwu gasped in surprise!

This table of customers was from private room 401!

Because of the special circumstances, the kitchen never dared to relax!

But now, with a mistake at Yao Shi’s side, this matter is really troublesome!

Gu Yunwu also understood the seriousness of the situation, and at this time had no interest in simply watching the chaos. He looked grimly at the ruined fish meat, racking his brain for ideas.

Just then, Yao Shi suddenly turned his head and instructed the nearby assistant: ”Go, find someone to help you bring over the remaining fish.”

The fish was kept in a large basin, full of water, making it difficult to carry alone.

The assistant quickly went to fetch the fish.

Soon, the live fish was carried over and placed on the ground.

But very soon, another problem emerged.

With Yao Shi’s hand injured, he couldn’t make the dish himself.

The most challenging part of the Shunde Fish Sashimi is the knife work.

In this kitchen, apart from Yao Shi, there’s really no one else who could achieve that thin-as-cicada-wings effect.

Gu Yunwu worriedly said: ”This table’s patrons came specifically for the four-ways fish dish, the other three cooking methods aren’t difficult, but the slicing of the fish meat requires exceptionally high standards! It must be thin as cicada wings, complete and intact, each pair connected without a break... This...”

Yao Shi furrowed his brow and turned to ask: ”Lao Gu, can you do it?”

Gu Yunwu shook his head: ”The fish’s other three preparations I can help with cooking, but slicing the fish, I truly can’t do it.”

Whether he wants to admit it or not, the truth is in front of him.

If it were ordinary fish meat, his knife skills would surely handle it easily, but only the Shunde Fish Sashimi demands too much.

To slice thinly, the knife must move swiftly.

But with increased speed, it’s hard to grasp where the knife should stop.

Any carelessness and the two slices of fish separate, ruining the dish!

Unable to take on this task, Gu Yunwu instinctively glanced at Zhao Meng nearby, who was busy plating.

Gu Yunwu was well aware of Zhao Meng’s culinary skills; if Zhao Meng could manage this dish, the restaurant wouldn’t solely depend on Yao Shi for orders now.

He can’t do it, and Zhao Meng is even less capable.

Though Zhao Meng’s knife skills are quite adept, his temper is hasty, and he also lacks steadiness in controlling the force.

Gu Yunwu’s heart sank.

Now with Yao Shi unable to hold the knife, there’s no one in the kitchen to take over.

What now?

Under normal circumstances, he might still harbor some schadenfreude, watching the commotion with a spectator’s mind.

But at this moment, this table’s guests were seated in room 401!

Though not fully aware, he had heard somewhat.

Today’s table isn’t ordinary; it’s rumored to be a high-level leader discussing cooperation with an out-of-province business tycoon.

This matter has significant implications!

Considering their status and rank, should they offend, not only Yao Shi, but the entire Qianlima might be implicated.

So what about this current situation?

Gu Yunwu shook his head; it’s too difficult... unless we change the dish, there’s absolutely no way around it!

Gu Yunwu was about to suggest that if things didn’t work, they might have to inform the boss and see if they could temporarily change the set menu.

Besides that, there really was no other solution.

At this moment, Yao Shi’s eyes suddenly caught a glimpse of a figure through the corner of his eye.

His eyes brightened, a bold idea instantly formed in his mind, he stated confidently: ”I know what to do now! Perhaps there’s someone who can try!”

Gu Yunwu guessed Yao Shi was preparing to find someone from outside to help.

After all, there was no other good solution.

Though bringing in outsiders to help cook, if word spread, it wouldn’t bode well for the restaurant.

In the midst of muddled thoughts, Gu Yunwu heard Yao Shi calling Fu Yu over.

Gu Yunwu: ”!”

That side, Fu Yu heard and hurried over.

”Chef Yao, you called me!”

Seeing him come over, Yao Shi directly instructed: ”The guests in room 401 ordered Shunde Fish Sashimi, you try it!”

Fu Yu’s heart skipped upon hearing ’room 401’.

Room 401 in Qianlima is typically kept empty, always ready for high-ranking VIPs or occasionally used by the boss for entertaining distinguished guests.

And the menu for this room is usually overseen by Yao Shi.

Yao Shi is the pillar of Qianlima’s kitchen, his presence ensures that hosting guests is not only impressive but also reassuring.

With him in charge, room 401 can accommodate guests of any status without worry!

Upon hearing this, Fu Yu grew somewhat anxious and apprehensive!

They want him to cook for room 401?

Yao Shi raised his hand, showing Fu Yu his index finger.

It was only then that Fu Yu noticed Yao Shi’s injured finger, the knife wound was deep, probably had just been under cold water, no longer oozing blood, but the exposed flesh was definitely intimidating.

Fu Yu realized, with such an injury, there was indeed no way to hold a knife.

But Yao Shi didn’t call Zhao Meng to help, choosing him instead?

Does this mean...?

Has his progress over this period been this apparent?
