The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Just after meal time, everyone in the kitchen had finished eating and was gathered for a chat.

Seeing Fu Yu return, Sun Qingning quickly greeted him, ”Chef Fu, how was it? Was everything smooth?”

Fu Yu looked at Sun Qingning and smiled, ”Pretty smooth.”

Sun Qingning said, ”You’re amazing! Chef Zhao just came back and said that your innovative improvements this time left the boss very impressed, and they’re going to give you a bonus again!”

The others gathered around too, ”Yeah! So it was you who made that improvement on the salt and pepper mantis shrimp? Really impressive!”

Zhang Jinyu said, ”Chef Fu! That video of yours is spreading around the restaurant now. I just saw Wang Yuxuan and the others watching it too!”

Fu Yu: ”?”

Fu Yu was dumbfounded!

They’ve been promoting the salt and pepper mantis shrimp for so long, why is it suddenly a hot topic again?

Just as Zhang Jiaxin was passing by to get some pickles from the storage room, he chimed in, ”Chef Fu, your knife skills are really amazing! I watched the video several times while eating just now!”

Fu Yu was surprised, ”Video? What video?”

Zhao Meng heard this and glared at those who couldn’t keep their mouths shut.

He hadn’t had the chance to tell Fu Yu about it yet.

Zhao Meng waved Fu Yu over.

”Actually, the thing is... it’s like this... like that...”

After explaining everything,

Fu Yu suddenly understood what was going on.

And so he smiled and whispered, ”It’s a good thing! If we get the money, we should celebrate. Chef Zhao, I just got some good stuff. How about we have a drink tonight?”

Zhao Meng’s eyes lit up, but then he remembered something and said regretfully, ”But I have the night shift today.”

Fu Yu was puzzled, ”What’s with the night shift? Don’t you usually stay up late?”

Zhao Meng coughed lightly, ”I have something to do tonight, it’ll take a little time.”

Fu Yu still didn’t get it and said with a smile, ”Great, I’ll take a shower after work and then get ready to find you.”

Zhao Meng thought Fu Yu understood and was very pleased. This kid, still pretty sharp.

He nodded satisfactorily, ”Alright, it’s settled then.”

Fu Yu returned to his station and, since there were no orders yet, went to check the prepared dishes.

Sun Qingning happily followed him.

”Chef Fu, amazing! You did another on-site service, incredible! How much was the service fee this time?”

”Service fee, huh...” Fu Yu looked him over carefully and then asked, ”Why is your work uniform dirty? Did you spill soup?”

”Ah, I spilled soup.” Sun Qingning remembered, and couldn’t help but complain, ”Don’t even mention it. I went to scrub the pot and the handle came off. Luckily there was only a bit of broth left. Look at my shoes!”

”Oh, why weren’t you wearing boots!” Fu Yu looked down at his sneakers, ”Be sure to pay attention next time. If you get scalded, it’ll be bad.”

In the kitchen, once the stove is on, the floor is always wet and dirty. Fu Yu and the others usually wear short boots.

Sun Qingning has sweaty feet, and with the heat, wearing boots was really uncomfortable, so he wore his black sneakers to cope every day.

”Got it.” Sun Qingning felt Fu Yu’s concern and felt delighted, smiling brightly.

”Alright, get back to work.” Fu Yu waved him off.

”Okay.” Sun Qingning walked away with a spring in his step.

Zhao Meng happened to see this scene and sighed inwardly, it was truly a case of surpassing the master!

Look at how he handles the dimwit!

As a master, he felt ashamed.

With just a change in topic and a little coaxing, that silly kid Sun Qingning was... tsk tsk...

As meal time came again in the evening, it was another busy period.

Gu Yunwu was on the morning shift today.

Zhang Jiaxin finally had some free time and quickly came over, curiously asking, ”Fu Yu, what does it feel like doing an on-site service? Tell me about it!”

Sun Qingning also joined in, ”Yeah! Fu Yu, tell us!”

Fu Yu pretended to recall, ”Well... the kitchen is spacious, there’s all kinds of kitchenware, the guests at home serve drinks, and after cooking, there are all kinds of fruits and food...”

Zhang Jiaxin looked envious, ”Wow! Sounds so great! If they can afford to hire a chef for on-site service, their home must be rich, and the kitchen must be big and beautiful, right?”

”Being able to use the kitchenware freely, cooking must be a pleasure!”

Sun Qingning reacted quickly, ”Chef Fu! Next time there’s an on-site service opportunity, take me with you! Big chefs always have a helper with them for on-site service!”

The previous two on-site services were too rushed, he didn’t think about it.

If there’s a chance in the future, taking Sun Qingning along wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Although he’d have to set aside two hundred yuan from the service fee for Sun Qingning.

But considering how Sun Qingning looked out for him and was indeed quick at work, Fu Yu thought he could afford it.

So he nodded and agreed, ”Sure, next time there’s a chance!”

Sun Qingning was delighted and slapped Fu Yu’s shoulder, ”Chef Fu! I knew you’re the best!”

Fu Yu was just about to speak when he suddenly remembered something.

He looked at the bright [!] above Sun Qingning’s head.

He chose to view.

[Chef with 11 months of experience. Status: Ambitious, average cooking skills, goodwill level 40]

Fu Yu turned to Zhang Jiaxin: [Goodwill level: 25]

Then he checked the others. From the usual interactions, Fu Yu knew who had a good relationship with him and who didn’t.

After checking everyone,

Zhang Jinyu: [Goodwill level: 32]

...

There weren’t many people in the kitchen, so after checking each one, Fu Yu had a good idea of the limits of these goodwill levels.

25 seemed to be a cordial relationship, not too close.

35 and above was a good relationship.

At that moment, Yao Yihang had also packed up and was getting off work.

As he passed by Fu Yu, he paused and greeted him with a smile, ”Chef Fu, I heard you did another on-site service today?”

Fu Yu nodded and took the opportunity to check Yao Yihang’s goodwill level: [-8]

Fu Yu: ”...”

Indeed, very low.

Looks like 0 was the baseline for goodwill.

Having a level above 0 meant a decent relationship, at least on the surface.

Below 0 indicated a poor relationship, or dislike.

Understanding this, Fu Yu suddenly realized that this goodwill level was quite useful.

At least it allowed him to see if people genuinely wanted to associate with him.

Seeing Fu Yu nod, Yao Yihang praised him with a smile, ”You’re really awesome! Bet the service fee was not small. You definitely should treat us to a celebration!”

He then turned to call out to others, ”Shouldn’t Chef Fu treat us?”

Before Fu Yu could speak, Sun Qingning laughed and asked, ”Hey! Speaking of which, Chef Yao, you haven’t celebrated properly since becoming permanent, right?”

Yao Yihang was taken aback, his smile almost faltering.

He had planned to treat back then, but it happened to be when Gu Yunwu piled all the work on him, working him to the bone daily, so he just forgot about it.
