The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu was trying to balance both sides and was incredibly busy.

Zhao Meng, however, was pleased to see this outcome.

Getting personal guidance from Yao Shi was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

It was something people usually begged for, something Zhao Meng almost wanted to push Fu Yu towards Yao Shi and tell him to stay there.

But Yao Shi, being the head chef, didn’t personally cook a lot of the time.

So the opportunities for Fu Yu to learn were also few and far between.

Fu Yu cherished this very much.

Especially just after earning the title of Artisan Chef and getting Yao Shi’s personal guidance.

Who knows when he might get lucky again?

With this thought, Fu Yu became even more motivated.

He was busy and bustling around.

After the meal rush.

The staff gathered a few dishes, and everyone got together to eat.

As Fu Yu followed Zhao Meng to the dining hall, they happened to walk in on Yao Shi talking to Wang Chengfeng about making Shunde Fish Sashimi earlier at noon.

When Wang Chengfeng saw Fu Yu, he smiled and said, ”Xiaofu is really impressive. Not only with the hot kitchen, but he also does great work in our cold kitchen, truly talented.”

Then he turned to Zhao Meng and said, ”Old Zhao, you must nurture him well! A promising talent like this must not go to waste.”

Zhao Meng, who knew the whole story by now, felt proud and smiled smugly, thinking: Of course, Fu Yu is being groomed as my successor.

Recalling Li Shuli’s previous praises of Fu Yu, Wang Chengfeng joked, ”Xiaofu, if you ever feel slighted working under Chef Zhao, just come over to our cold kitchen! We would warmly welcome you, remember that!”

While they were joking around, Gu Yunwu had been quiet the whole time. He quietly looked at Fu Yu, who was seated next to Zhao Meng, busily serving Zhao Meng rice and handing him chopsticks.

Gu Yunwu realized that Fu Yu was no ordinary guy!

The superb knife skills Fu Yu demonstrated while making Shunde Fish Sashimi had surprised Gu Yunwu greatly!

He realized, belatedly, that he had been underestimating Fu Yu all along.

When Fu Yu first created a new dish effortlessly and became a full-time chef,

He had thought Zhao Meng might have been providing ideas because he believed Fu Yu’s culinary skills were a bit lacking and had taken shortcuts.

And last time, when Zhao Meng suddenly fell ill, and Fu Yu took on the responsibility solo,

He also thought it was Yao Shi assisting him since he assumed Fu Yu wasn’t technically skilled and needed someone to oversee things.

But seeing things today, he finally realized he had underestimated him.

That innovative dish was probably Fu Yu’s own creation.

And when Zhao Meng got sick, Yao Shi specifically appointed Fu Yu to lead, clearly aware that Fu Yu had the capability.

Now it seems that Yao Shi has an amazing eye for talent!

Fu Yu is indeed exceptionally skilled!

In fact, all along, although Gu Yunwu had quietly competed with Zhao Meng, he didn’t have any bias against Fu Yu.

Moreover, when Fu Yu made seafood porridge, he quite admired him, thinking the guy had responsibility, and a solid culinary foundation, and would definitely go far with proper training.

Now seeing it, Fu Yu is indeed talented!

Learning to cook, like learning martial arts, also requires talent.

Without talent, relying solely on hard work will get you to the stove, but you’ll struggle in skill and innovation.

With talent and hard work, standing out in this field is merely a matter of time.

He glanced at Yao Yihang still immersed in work at the stove, then at Fu Yu attentively serving soup to Zhao Meng.

Gu Yunwu had a thought.

Yao Shi was pushing his music restaurant business, which was flourishing with each passing day.

Though he was a top chef at Qianlima, he was spending less and less time there.

When the time is right, he might just leave Qianlima to focus entirely on his business.

After all, people have personal interests, and no one would be more attentive to another’s cash register than their own.

Gu Yunwu realizes that Yao Shi leaving Qianlima is only a matter of time.

Once Yao Shi leaves, the head chef position will naturally become vacant.

Given the current situation, the candidates are only himself and Zhao Meng, no one else.

And Zhao Meng has never been ambitious, only known for following orders diligently, but lacking in flair or charm.

But he is different, perceptive and efficient, especially in front of the boss, the difference is obvious.

Zhao Meng is already 42 this year,

While he is just 41, a difference of more than three hundred days!

He is in good health and full of energy, the perfect age to climb the career ladder.

Who else but him should take the head chef position?

As for Fu Yu...

Gu Yunwu suddenly felt that his previous thoughts were misguided!

Who says that once you join one side, you’re stuck there forever?

Gu Yunwu thought he should perhaps try to bring Fu Yu to his side. He might just become a valuable ally in the future.

And there’s still time, as long as he can be patient.

Although previously...but...as long as there’s no repeat of recent bad impressions.

But...

Gu Yunwu was puzzled by one thing.

If he could see that Yao Shi might leave Qianlima anytime soon to focus on his restaurant,

Couldn’t Zhao Meng see it too?

At such a time, instead of clinging to the boss, he was still following Yao Shi around...

What was he planning? Jump ship in the future?

Even if Zhao Meng does move to the music restaurant, it would still be as a chef.

But the clientele he’s worked so hard to cultivate would be lost.

Empathetically, Gu Yunwu felt he wouldn’t let go.

He wouldn’t dare consider leaving the job lightly, and surely Zhao Meng wouldn’t either.

So what’s Zhao Meng thinking?

Gu Yunwu furrowed his brow, realizing he needed to ponder this issue carefully.

Nevertheless, Gu Yunwu felt he should make some gestures.

After everyone finished eating, Gu Yunwu smiled and greeted the others, ”Chef Yao, you all enjoy, I’m heading back.”

He got up and specifically looked at Fu Yu, smiling slightly, ”Xiaofu, when you have time, come hang out with me, let’s exchange ideas!”

He said his part and left smoothly.

Leaving Zhao Meng with a look of astonishment!

Hey!

A weasel wishing a chicken Happy New Year!

Has Gu Yunwu turned over a new leaf?

Just days ago, he was fighting so hard against them, using all sorts of tricks.

Now, he wants Fu Yu to go over and ”exchange ideas”?

What’s there to exchange?

No way!

Zhao Meng suddenly turned his head to glare at the departing figure of Gu Yunwu.

This Gu Yunwu, the sly weasel!

This was clearly a sneaky move to poach his talent!

Thinking of this, Zhao Meng couldn’t help but glare at Gu Yunwu, full of wariness!
