The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Gu Yunwu’s phone vibrated twice in his pocket.

He took it out and glanced at the caller ID; it was a message from Yao Yihang:

”Boss, there are two calls that couldn’t get through.”

Gu Yunwu looked back at Zhao Meng’s side.

Zhao Meng and Fu Yu were busy flipping the pan, with a few assistants bustling around them.

Gu Yunwu withdrew his gaze and continued his work.

After getting the table ready, he made an excuse to have a smoke, slipped out the back door, went into the storeroom, and closed the door.

Only then did he call Yao Yihang back.

”What’s going on?”

Yao Yihang quickly reported: ”I’ve already contacted these customers. They were very happy to hear that the restaurant has launched new innovative dishes. However, Mr. Wang Hongyu said that if the dish isn’t personally cooked by you, he won’t come especially. The others agreed to come and plan to order Chef Zhao’s dishes, wanting to try something new.”

Gu Yunwu nodded.

He understood why this Mr. Wang Hongyu wouldn’t come; his family is from out of town, and he usually only visits during holidays, using the opportunity to visit his parents and taste the old flavors at Qianlima.

This person is nostalgic. From the first time he ate the dish cooked by him, every time he visited, he directly ordered his menu.

But apart from Wang Hongyu, if the others agree to come, counting them, there should be at least five or six more orders.

Gu Yunwu felt that should be enough.

After all, he only contacted three customers before, promising they would come for dinner, and Zhao Meng had already received six orders just for the evening.

Gu Yunwu guessed that since they had just started officially sharing orders, Zhao Meng might have notified familiar old customers in advance so that he could have more people on his side.

Gu Yunwu smiled contentedly and instructed, ”Alright, that’s about enough... Yihang, you also need to manage a bit on your side, so as not to really delay the serving of dishes and affect the customers’ dining experience.”

After all, among this wave of customers, there were old customers he had been cultivating for many years, a precious network.

Yao Yihang responded, ”Boss, don’t worry, I’m keeping an eye on it. However, we should still try a bit harder to send more customers to his side. When Chef Yao is preparing for the interview, you won’t even need to say a word. Just seeing Chef Zhao so busy, he won’t suggest Chef Zhao to join. After all, Chef Zhao can’t handle all these orders. If it affects the customers’ dining experience and something goes wrong, it won’t be worth it. By that time, the spot will definitely be yours, with no other choice!”

After hearing this, Gu Yunwu couldn’t help but laugh.

He indeed had a few old customers at hand; he had even contacted them personally during previous store events.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, he invited them to the restaurant.

By then, the orders could be handed over to Zhao Meng, and when Yao Shi decides the interview participants, everything would be in place!

After giving Yao Yihang a few more instructions, Gu Yunwu ended the call and went back to the kitchen.

Fu Yu just went to the storage room to check the side dishes. Seeing Gu Yunwu, he quickly greeted, ”Chef Gu.”

Gu Yunwu smiled and nodded, ”Busy, huh?”

Fu Yu smiled, ”It’s okay.”

After entering the storage room, Fu Yu opened the glass jar of pickled lemon chicken feet and was about to scoop some out when a digital notification sounded in his ear:

”Ding! Successfully assisted in the innovative eight-dish-and-eight-bowl setup for the music restaurant. Reward received: Honorary Title (Upgraded from ”Rising Star in the Kitchen” to ”Newcomer in the Kitchen”).”

Fu Yu: ”!”

So the ”Rising Star in the Kitchen” title can be upgraded?

But what does this ”Newcomer in the Kitchen” mean?

Fu Yu checked his personal attributes.

Sure enough, he found the content under the honorary title had changed to ”Newcomer in the Kitchen,” with a ”!” after it.

Fu Yu chose to view it.

”Newcomer in the Kitchen: As an outstanding talent who stands out, a newcomer in the kitchen should adhere to the principle of succession and innovation, continuous learning, and strive for new heights.”

”This work philosophy is not only reflected in the process of cooking diligently but also, more importantly, in having a passion for the industry and a gradually growing zeal through which culinary art is presented to customers, satisfying their expectation for delicious food.”

”A 100% satisfaction guarantee for guests, this title is awarded as recognition.”

”Wearing this title: When cooking independently, there’s a 5% chance of acquiring a single advanced skill from colleagues around.”

Fu Yu was a bit flattered by the reward!

Previously, it was a chance, and now it’s been directly increased to 5%!

The most crucial point is that this honorary title can be upgraded.

Although he didn’t know the specific standards for promotion, the most crucial point was clear.

It is essential to ensure the dishes he cooks are recognized and satisfy the customers.

To achieve this, he can only spend more time cooking at the stove.

The more dishes cooked, the greater the chance to satisfy customers.

Not bad!

Fu Yu increasingly felt that this system was really good!

As a chef, the more you cook, the more you can progress!

What’s the difference between this and being followed by god into a restaurant and being fed?

Holding the lemon chicken feet and heading back, Fu Yu was stopped by Zhao Meng.

”The salt and pepper mantis shrimp you made earlier received praise from the customers.”

”When you have time, discuss with me the improved processing of salt and pepper mantis shrimp. If it works out, I’ll talk to Chef Yao, and we’ll follow this in the future.”

Fu Yu smiled and agreed, ”Sure!”

”Chef Fu, let me take it!” Sun Qingning spotted Fu Yu returning and hurried over to take the lemon chicken feet.

Fu Yu smiled, ”I’ll teach you how to plate the side dishes in a while. Each table of customers will be served a portion later, and you can practice your skills. But time is tight, and the task is heavy, so you’ll need to be quick!”

Sun Qingning was excited to hear this. For him, plating had always been a weak point, and he never had the opportunity to practice before. Now, with Fu Yu willing to teach him, it was a great opportunity!

Fu Yu took two dishes from Zhao Meng, one being Steamed Fresh Crayfish, and the other being Wok-fried Crab with Garlic.

The crabs sold by Qianlima are known for being fresh and large.

Customers often order by headcount, one big crab per person, to enjoy the meal thoroughly.

The customers who reserved this table picked eight crayfish, and Sun Qingning had already washed them in advance.

Fu Yu guided Sun Qingning in plating the lemon chicken feet. Seeing that the effect was good, he let him work on the side dishes by himself.

Without any outsiders watching, Fu Yu felt increasingly comfortable as he worked.

Primarily because this oil-free skimmer was excessively convenient and effective.

Since he started cooking independently, Fu Yu had never used a skimmer. Any task involving oil or draining water was assigned to Sun Qingning.

Fortunately, Sun Qingning seemed rather pleased with this arrangement, as Fu Yu would occasionally offer tips on temperature control techniques during the process.
