Chapter 48: Chapter 48: The Third Person at the Scene!

After Chen He finished speaking, Li Jian nodded and said, ”It seems that there indeed exists venting damage on the body of the female victim.”

”Originally, I didn’t think too much when I saw these injuries.”

”After Jiang An’s analysis, I find it makes a lot of sense.”

While speaking, he turned to glance at Wu You.

Where their gazes met, the two nodded at each other.

Li Jian understood.

This was deep recognition from Mr. Wu.

He said, ”Earlier, Mr. Chen’s inferences were also very instructive.”

”I quite agree too.”

After a slight pause, Li Jian continued, ”For the upcoming work, I feel we must change the overall direction.”

”In previous discussions of this case, the nature of the case has never been touched.”

”However! This time we’ve hit the foundation.”

”Next, I think the key work is to thoroughly sort through the personal emotional relationships of this female victim.”

”In my police career, I’ve handled many criminal cases.”

”Tragic conflicts caused by emotional disputes occur frequently too.”

”But.”

”This is the first time I’ve encountered a case involving the murder of family members.”

Finally, Captain Li Jian said, ”This case has always been an insurmountable chasm for our Jiangcheng criminal investigation team.”

”So, I ask everyone present to keep up the good work, stand united, and together find the breakthrough in this case.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Captain Li Jian’s phone rang again.

”Mr. Ma!”

”Are you free? Come to my office for a moment.”

”I’m free! I’ll come up right away.”

Lastly, Captain Li Jian said, ”Meeting adjourned!”

After the meeting ended, everyone started to take action.

According to the work plan made at the meeting, Deputy Captain Chen He led officers focusing primarily on the female victim’s relationship history.

At this moment, Chen He was very enthusiastic.

He felt that this old case was a stage and opportunity to showcase himself.

In essence, which criminal investigator wouldn’t want to solve a case and gain merit!

As they drove out, Captain Li Jian hurried to Mr. Ma’s office.

”Knock, knock, knock”

”Come in!”

Captain Li Jian said, ”Mr. Ma, you wanted to see me?”

”Sit down and talk! I want to hear your discussion on that old case.”

Then, he handed over a police internal briefing.

”You can have a look at this briefing when you have time, it’s quite similar to our Jiangcheng case.”

Li Jian said, ”Okay!”

”Mr. Ma, let me first report the discussion of this case to you.”

Mr. Ma lit a cigarette and said with a serious expression, ”Go ahead!”

Subsequently, Li Jian detailed all the conclusions and bases analyzed in the meeting.

He especially described Jiang An’s three-point analysis in detail.

After listening, Mr. Ma nodded slightly.

”Sounds quite reasonable.”

”From the original state of the scene, to the damage on the body, and the staying of personnel at the crime scene.”

”It can be said that this analysis process is very logical.”

Mr. Ma took a sip from his teacup.

He said in a low voice, ”This young man is quite something.”

”Boss, I think Jiang An is the most talented person in criminal investigation that I know.”

”Although he is a forensic doctor, his work capabilities far exceed those of a typical forensic doctor.”

”The forensic specialists we’ve encountered before often focus only on bodies, studying aspects related to the body and injuries.”

”But Jiang An can integrate and apply all the knowledge points together.”

”This indeed subverts our conventional understanding of forensic experts.”

Then he asked, ”How do you plan the next phase of work?”

Captain Li Jian replied, ”Chen He has already led a team to start investigating the interpersonal relationships of the deceased, Zhang Qian, focusing mainly on all her past relationships.”

Mr. Ma nodded.

”If indeed the case was triggered by emotional issues, then following this direction should yield good results.”

Meanwhile.

In the criminal investigation team’s meeting room, only Jiang An remained.

A thick case file was placed in front of him, with all the photos being projected on the screen.

He wanted to delve deeper into this case.

He then slid the mouse to open each picture of the crime scene.

From scene investigation to body examination, nothing was overlooked.

When he observed the footprints on the ground, Jiang An’s pupils slightly contracted.

In the living room and bedroom, many footprints were visible on the floor.

Some of these footprints belonged to the victim, while others were from the initial responding officers.

Some were left by the ER doctors, and even some were caused by other relatives and friends of the victim entering the initial scene.

Jiang An remembered that during the previous meeting, Captain Li Jian had mentioned.

The officers who first arrived at the crime scene did not ensure scene protection, allowing many unrelated people to enter.

This made the footprint analysis not particularly valuable.

However, the distribution of footprints in the photo before Jiang An was very different.

The size of these footprints should be about size 35, and they were mainly concentrated in the living room.

Judging from the size and shape of the footprints, they could be determined to be from a pair of women’s shoes.

Crucially, in Jiang An’s view, the positioning of these footprints was very peculiar, mainly around the female victim, without much disorderly movement.

This fully indicates that these footprints were not formed during a struggle.

In intense fights, due to fierce bodily movements, the steps would be very chaotic.

Could they have been formed by the victim’s relatives or friends?

After observing for a while, Jiang An gently shook his head.

It doesn’t seem like it!

If it was formed after the incident when relatives and friends came to check, it would have ended after just a glance.

Generally, they wouldn’t linger around the victim for long.

Especially since there are small foam-like bloodstains within one of the footprints.

These bloodstains are not ordinary, they have good directional indications.

They are blood spatter caused by breathing from the body.

However, according to the task force’s analysis based on the comparison of criminal power, the number of perpetrators is two adult males!

Isn’t there a significant contradiction here?

At this moment, Chen He found Zhang Qian’s cousin and, after introducing his identity and purpose, asked, ”Did Zhang Qian have any other boyfriends before marriage?”

She answered, ”My cousin once had a university boyfriend she dated for four years.”

”However, when they graduated, my aunt felt that the boyfriend’s family was relatively poor and did not agree to them getting married.”

”Later, my aunt introduced her current husband to my cousin, a man whose family is in business and financially well-off.”

Chen He asked, ”When the old couple was forced apart, did the ex-boyfriend ever come to find your cousin?”

The woman replied, ”He did, and not just once.”

”Moreover, he even attended her wedding.”

”Is that man married now?”

”I heard that he still isn’t. He once said he would not marry anyone but my cousin.”

Hearing this, Chen He squinted slightly, as if he smelled the scent of a breakthrough in the case.
