Chapter 31: Chapter 31: I’m Going to Find Evidence!

Upon hearing this, Wu You’s coffee suddenly shook.

A minute earlier, he was discussing with Zhang Yean the issue of the deceased’s muscle stiffness.

Now!

In Wu You’s forensic perspective, the abnormal stiffness of the deceased’s muscles can be fully explained by the clinical manifestation of ”epileptic” seizures.

Once this contradiction is resolved, other ”abnormalities” are minor issues.

Upon hearing Jiang An’s words, Zhang Yean and Wu You quickly turned to look at him.

Both of their faces were blank with bewilderment.

Wu You’s lips moved, about to say something but held back.

He really wanted to tell Wu You that solving a case requires thorough research, but one shouldn’t get stuck on a point.

Any death scene, unless captured on camera, can never be 100% reconstructed in its entirety.

Unlike them, Jiang An’s face was filled with excitement and joy.

Like winning the first prize in a school’s outside store lottery as a child.

If that were said two hours ago, Wu You and Zhang Yean would be curious and expectant.

But.

Now, Wu You sees the case as already closed.

For established facts, there’s no possibility of ”overturning” the case.

Wu You stood up and walked over.

He glanced at the autopsy photos on the computer screen and patted Jiang An’s shoulder.

”I think you might be too tired!”

”The case is about to be closed, forget about everything.”

”Go home and rest well today!”

Suddenly, Wu You’s phone rang.

”Mr. Li!”

”Mr. Wu, please come to my office.”

”Okay! Will be right up.”

After hanging up the phone, Wu You quickly left.

Three minutes later, Wu You entered Mr. Li’s office.

He saw Deputy Captain Chen He already seated in a chair.

”Mr. Wu, come quickly and sit down!”

Li Jian invited him to sit down.

”Have a professional matter for you.”

Just after Wu You sat down, Captain Li Jian handed over a set of medical records.

”These are the hospital records of Li Yan before her death, with intermittent epilepsy.”

Captain Li Jian then asked: ”Can this disease, commonly known as epilepsy, cause death?”

Wu You nodded.

”Epilepsy is an abnormal discharge of brain neurons, during a seizure it can cause spasms and rigidity of limbs.”

”Of course, if not discovered in time during a seizure, it could likely lead to death.”

After hearing this, Captain Li Jian said: ”Since that’s the case, this can be declared a sudden accidental death.”

Deputy Captain Chen He nodded with a smile: ”Now my classmate Yang Guang can rest assured.”

”Earlier Yang Guang called saying he’s still interrogating theft suspect Liu Chuang.”

”Liu Chuang admitted to stealing four handbags, but firmly denied stealing the shoulder bag.”

”He insists that he found the shoulder bag on the mountain.”

Li Jian waved his hand and said: ”As long as we solve the issue with the body, everything else is a small problem.”

”Even if he doesn’t admit to stealing from the tent, it’s inconsequential.”

Afterwards, Captain Li Jian asked: ”Is there any impact at Li Yan’s school?”

Chen He replied: ”The school’s teachers were shocked and sympathetic about Li Yan’s death.”

While leaving school, the head of academics specifically said: ”If the case reaches a conclusion, please formally notify us.”

”On one hand, they can help with the deceased’s family’s follow-up.”

”On the other hand, since it involves a student’s death, the university needs to report to higher education authorities.”

Captain Li Jian nodded, ”First draft the case overview and ask Mr. Ma for review, then send the letter to the school.”

”Okay! I’ll implement it right away.”

At this moment.

In the criminal technology office, only Zhang Yean and Jiang An were left.

The two looked at each other, wondering.

Jiang An said: ”Senior, do you believe me?”

Zhang Yean thought about Jiang An’s meticulous logical reasoning.

She nodded.

”Of course, I believe you!”

Next, Jiang An asked: ”Do you believe there’s a murderer in the Li Yan death case?”

This time, Zhang Yean did not immediately answer him.

She picked up the freshly made instant coffee and walked over.

”Have a cup of coffee first to refresh.”

”I’m very excited now, I’m convinced this is a murder case.”

Zhang Yean said: ”Earlier Mr. Wu called Deputy Chen, confirming that the deceased Li Yan had epilepsy before death, and the limb muscle spasms and rigidity were caused by this disease.”

”You are a top forensic student, you should understand the underlying medical principle.”

Jiang An listened, and replied calmly: ”I do not deny that epilepsy can lead to muscle spasms and rigidity.”

”However, this scene is too bizarre, I think it’s not that simple.”

”The key is, I’ve just found a very important clue.”

”What clue?”

Zhang Yean took a sip of coffee, asked casually.

Jiang An raised his hand pointing at the computer screen, said: ”There’s a red dot under the deceased’s right upper limb armpit.”

”I enlarged it, and saw a damage at the center of the red dot.”

”Judging from the shape of this red dot, I suspect it’s a syringe needle mark.”

Needle mark under the armpit?

Zhang Yean leaned down, following Jiang An’s direction to observe.

She said: ”There is indeed a red dot.”

”But, could it be eczema, or heat rash?”

”The underarm sweats easily, this girl shaved her armpit hair, it might also be folliculitis.”

Jiang An replied: ”How could the center of eczema or heat rash have a circular hole?”

”Redness from folliculitis should have a hair root at the center!”

Zhang Yean’s two possibilities were both denied by Jiang An.

She then asked: ”Even if it’s a syringe mark, what’s it got to do with Li Yan’s murder case?”

As soon as the words fell, Jiang An said: ”It is related! It’s very much related!”

”I deduce this is the murderer’s poisoning route.”

In an instant, Zhang Yean’s hand holding the coffee cup shook violently.

If she hadn’t drunk more than half earlier, the coffee would have spilled out.

Zhang Yean said: ”We conducted multiple tests in the lab, no toxins were detected!”

Immediately, Jiang An stood up, said: ”The testing samples we extracted were from the stomach and stomach contents of the deceased.”

”If the murderer used injection for poisoning, our equipment won’t detect toxins in stomach contents.”

After a while, Zhang Yean seemed to understand vaguely, her gaze moved back and forth between Jiang An and the computer screen several times, said: ”Your imagination, observation are indeed impressive.”

Jiang An asked: ”Does this mean you believe Li Yan was murdered?”

Zhang Yean replied: ”Other than the body, the investigation found no murder clues.”

After a slight pause, she continued: ”I can believe you, but Mr. Li and Mr. Wu might not.”

”They are veteran investigators, who value objective evidence.”

Jiang An picked up the coffee on the table, ”Gulp, gulp” drank a few sips.

Then, he said: ”Senior! Let’s go!”

Zhang Yean looked confused.

”Where to?”

”To the forensic autopsy center to find evidence.”
