The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Return to the Scene of Death!

As soon as the call ended, Chen He asked, ”Mr. Li, what’s wrong?”

Li Jian put down the investigation conclusion report and said, ”The deceased Li Yan’s body contained toxic rat poison ingredients.”

Chen He’s eyes widened, glanced at Li Jian, and his gaze settled on the 2000-word document.

”Mr. Li, is the information from Jiang An reliable?”

”When I led the team to investigate at Jiangcheng Information Technology College, we did not discover any doubts.”

Li Jian nodded.

”It should be correct, Jiang An is a rather meticulous person.”

Thinking of Li Yan’s history of epilepsy, Chen He asked, ”Mr. Li, could it be that this young girl committed suicide?”

Li Jian said solemnly, ”The poison was injected into the body.”

”Injected?”

”Injected under the armpit!”

Although Chen He was not a forensic expert, he understood from common sense that injecting poison in such a secretive spot was not a usual choice for suicide.

Immediately, Li Jian dialed Wu You’s number.

After all, Jiang An had only been working for two days, and nothing could go wrong in such an important matter.

The call connected, and Wu You’s soft voice came from the other side.

”Hello!”

Having stayed up all night last night, his body was at the brink of exhaustion.

minutes ago, he had just lain down to rest in the office’s standby duty room.

Just as he was falling asleep, the call came in.

”Mr. Wu, I need you to come out with me!”

”Mr. Li, has someone reported another dead body?”

Wu You turned over and asked softly.

Li Jian said solemnly, ”It’s more serious than a reported death.”

”Li Yan’s death case should be homicide!”

Instantly, Wu You’s eyes opened wide, and all sleepiness vanished.

He sprang up, urgently asking, ”Mr. Li, what’s going on?”

Li Jian answered, ”Jiang An detected toxic rat poison ingredients in Li Yan’s blood.”

Suddenly, Wu You stood frozen by the bedside, motionless.

After a long time, he said, ”I’ll come down immediately and meet you.”

minutes later, Li Jian, Chen He, and Wu You, the three old partners, got into the police car and quickly headed to Jiang City Forensic Autopsy Center.

As soon as the police car drove out, Chen He received a call from a landline phone.

”Hello, Mr. Chen! I’m Mr. Wang, from the teaching department of the Information Technology College.”

”Hello, Mr. Wang!”

Chen He knew the purpose of her call and quickly turned on the speakerphone function of his mobile.

”May I ask if a final investigation conclusion has been reached regarding Li Yan’s death case?”

Chen He looked up at Li Jian.

Li Jian nodded.

Chen He understood and said, ”The preliminary conclusion is out, she was murdered.”

”Ah!”

Upon hearing this conclusion, Mr. Wang exclaimed in shock.

hours earlier, when Chen He was leaving the school, the tendency conclusion given was accidental death by sudden cause.

How could there be such a sudden 180-degree turn?

After calming down a bit, Mr. Wang asked, ”Are you sure it’s homicide?”

Li Jian took over the phone and replied, ”I am Li Jian, the head of the Criminal Investigation Team. Based on the latest evidence, we believe that Li Yan was killed. Please be prepared to cooperate in the investigation anytime.”

After a long pause, Mr. Wang mechanically answered, ”Alright! There won’t be any problem!”

After hanging up the phone, her heart was pounding furiously, and her head was buzzing.

From accidental death to homicide, this is not just a discrepancy of a few words.

Now there’s going to be big trouble.

Mr. Wang couldn’t calm her emotions in time and went straight to the principal’s office.

The ”tap-tap-tap” sound of her high heels instantly resounded through the corridor.

She didn’t knock and rushed directly into Mr. Fang’s office.

Mr. Fang, who was reviewing the college’s overall work report material for this academic year, glanced up, slightly annoyed.

”What’s the matter, in such a hurry?”

”Mr. Fang, something big happened, the Li Yan death case reported to you this morning is now confirmed to be homicide!”

Instantly, Mr. Fang’s report material slipped from his hand.

He stood up and asked, ”What’s the situation? Wasn’t it said to be accidental death by illness?”

Mr. Wang was impatiently stomping.

”I don’t know very well, the conclusion was personally stated by Li Jian, head of the Criminal Investigation Team.”

”Li Jian!”

Mr. Fang pondered for a moment, furrowing his brow tightly.

Two minutes later, he said, ”Contact the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team again to verify the situation.”

”If it really is homicide, immediately report the relevant situation to the higher education authorities.”

”This matter is grave, quickly proceed.”

As soon as the words fell, Mr. Wang turned and walked out of the office.

11:40 AM.

A police SUV stopped in front of the forensic autopsy lab.

Li Jian, Chen He, and Wu You got out of the police car.

As soon as they entered the laboratory, they saw Jiang An and Zhang Yean.

”How is it?”

”Are the results absolutely reliable?”

Li Jian asked urgently.

Jiang An handed over two laboratory data analysis charts.

”These are the toxicology test reports from the deceased’s skin under the right armpit and blood.”

Li Jian took the chart and focused on the test results section.

”Both samples detected toxic rat poison ingredients, the concentration has reached lethal levels.”

Then, he passed the report to Wu You.

Wu You carefully reviewed the charts and conclusions and nodded.

”The waveform peak value of the poison is quite high, the concentration visibly doesn’t look low.”

Li Jian said, ”In that case, we can fully confirm Li Yan died from toxic rat poison poisoning.”

Wu You added, ”Such hidden location injection poison is impossible for suicide or accidental, it can only be homicide.”

Suddenly, Chen He raised his hand to touch his armpit and asked, ”This part is very private, how someone could think of injecting here?”

Wu You sighed and said, ”Precisely because this place is hidden, forensic examinations can easily overlook it, that’s why the killer could evade detection.”

Instantly, everyone’s eyes turned to Jiang An.

Li Jian tapped his shoulder.

”Jiang An, well done!”

”Your meticulous and research-oriented attitude is something all members of the Criminal Investigation Team should learn from.”

Jiang An smiled slightly and said, ”It was just a coincidence.”

Wu You said, ”This is a display of hard skills, your observational ability is very strong.”

Both Zhang Yean and Chen He also gave Jiang An thumbs up.

Chen He touched his armpit, frowned, and asked, ”Since the killer chose to inject under the armpit, how did he do it?”

”After all, the deceased couldn’t possibly lie there, raising her hand to be injected, right?”

As soon as he finished, Jiang An turned and picked up another chart.

”This is the deceased’s blood alcohol test report.”

Li Jian reached out to take it.

”Blood ethanol concentration 53mg/100mL.”

Chen He turned around and glanced at it, saying, ”This concentration doesn’t seem high!”

Jiang An said, ”It doesn’t seem high now.”

”However, after death, ethanol in the body partially degrades, so the concentration at death was higher than this data.”

”Also, each person has different alcohol tolerance, we must treat each case differently.”

Li Jian thought for a moment and said, ”Do you mean the killer acted after Li Yan was drinking?”

Jiang An nodded, ”I deduce that there’s a high possibility.”

Chen He slightly frowned and said, ”I was responsible for following up on the preliminary investigation materials of this case.”

”During my interviews, I didn’t find anyone that Li Yan held a grudge against, nor did I find any suspicious points.”

”If it is homicide, then the investigation difficulty of this case might be quite high.”

At this moment, everyone had serious expressions, feeling immense pressure.

After a long time, Jiang An said solemnly, ”Mr. Li, I have an idea.”

”Tell me!”

”I constantly believe that as long as you have been here, you will undoubtedly leave traces.”

”Therefore, I want to return to the death scene and search for clues left by the killer.”
