The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Fresh on the Job, Faced with a Strange Case

Parallel world.

July 1st.

Jiang An held the admission notice in his hand and arrived at the entrance of Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau.

Four years ago, he crossed over to this world.

At Dragon Country Medical University, he took over from the previous owner and completed the remaining courses in forensic science.

Today is his reporting-in day!

Suddenly, his eyes caught sight of a large crowd gathered at the entrance.

During his five years in university, Jiang An was not completely unaware of the outside world.

This phenomenon in front of him was quite strange!

There must have been a case with significant influence.

Otherwise!

There wouldn’t be so many people here.

Standing at the entrance, Jiang An took out his cellphone and dialed the number of Li Jian, the captain of the criminal investigation team.

As a newcomer coming to report, he could just go in by himself.

However, three days ago, Captain Li Jian contacted Jiang An.

Over the phone, Li Jian advised him to make sure to call when he reported in.

He wanted to personally come out to greet him.

Three minutes later, Li Jian, the captain of the criminal investigation team, came out in casual wear.

A month ago, during the political review of the police entrance exam, Jiang An had met Li Jian.

”Jiang An, welcome to the criminal investigation team.”

Li Jian warmly extended his hand and said while looking at Jiang An.

Jiang An smiled and said: ”Thank you for coming out to welcome me, Captain Li.”

Li Jian patted his shoulder and said: ”You scored all full marks in university courses in forensic medicine. I had to come out to greet you.”

Jiang An smiled.

This is indeed true; all the courses in forensic science at university were full marks.

Whether it was human system anatomy, regional human anatomy, forensic pathology, forensic toxicology, forensic psychiatry, etc.

Nothing but full marks.

Before crossing over, Jiang An was a university professor in medical colleges, teaching forensic science.

After crossing over, he turned from a teacher into a student.

All examination points and difficulties were memorized.

In examinations, if he didn’t score full marks, where would the justice be?

Then, Jiang An followed Captain Li Jian through the side door into the public security bureau.

Along the way, Captain Li Jian introduced: ”Our criminal investigation team is a very important department of the public security bureau, responsible for fighting crime and maintaining societal stability.”

”Cases involving personal injuries and fatalities are our main battlefield.”

”Sometimes, working continuously for seventy-two hours, the job can be tough, so you need to be mentally prepared.”

”Captain Li, ever since I chose forensic science, I’ve been prepared.”

”Well done!”

”The content of medical studies is extensive, and scoring full marks in every subject is very rare.”

Jiang An smiled.

Immediately, changing the topic, he asked: ”Captain Li, what’s going on with all the people at the entrance?”

Li Jian slowed his pace and said gravely: ”A week ago, a middle school student from a local private school hung herself on the campus grounds. After a comprehensive investigation, it was preliminarily determined to be suicide.”

”However, this incident has had a great impact, and the deceased’s family doesn’t agree, repeatedly negotiating with the school and us.”

Jiang An curiously asked: ”Was the death complicated?”

Captain Li Jian replied: ”It’s just a very common type of hanging death.”

”Unfortunately, there was no surveillance at the scene. Our suicide conclusion is based on interviews, school feedback, forensic analysis, and scene investigation.”

Finally, Captain Li Jian sighed.

”The work of a criminal investigator is not easy!”

”The family’s strong emotional reactions are understandable, after all, life and death are at stake!”

”For us criminal investigators, this case is just work, but for the family, it’s a disaster.”

Speaking, the two entered the elevator.

Captain Li Jian said: ”At ten o’clock in the morning, we will have a final discussion meeting about this case. You should join us later.”

Jiang An replied: ”Captain Li! Sure!”

He followed Li Jian to the office of the technical team.

”Clap, clap, clap”

Captain Li Jian clapped his hands.

”Brothers, put down your work for a moment. I’m here to introduce a new colleague.”

”Jiang An is a top student in forensic science from Dragon Country Medical University, with five years of all full marks in university.”

”Let’s give him a round of applause.”

Instantly, the office of the technical team was filled with enthusiastic applause.

The criminal investigation team of Jiangcheng City Bureau consists of investigation and technical departments.

The technical department includes subdivisions like forensics, DNA, tracing, toxicology, etc.

Jiang An came to the forensic section of the technical team, which is a small branch.

Similar to the responsibilities of forensic experts in TV dramas like Forensic Qin Ming, Crime Files, and Forensic Heroes, it mainly deals with cases of personal injuries and fatalities.

At ten o’clock in the morning, in the meeting room of the criminal investigation team.

The room, about one hundred square meters, was packed without a spare seat.

Even before the meeting started, it was already shrouded in smoke.

In the profession of criminal investigators, few are non-smokers!

Of course, there’s a high proportion of sudden deaths from overworking during overtime.

Finally, Captain Li Jian came in.

The previously somewhat restless meeting room instantly quieted down.

Captain Li Jian extinguished the cigarette stub in his hand, opened the notebook in front of him with a heavy face.

”Comrades, we’re starting the meeting now!”

After the sound of flipping pages, Captain Li Jian solemnly said: ”Today, the family and media reporters came again.”

”Probably, many of you saw this when you came to work this morning.”

Li Jian sighed.

”Our criminal investigation team is under great pressure now.”

”Mr. Ma, who is in charge of criminal investigation, is also under great pressure.”

”He demands that we must handle this situation swiftly.”

With a few simple words, everyone’s expressions became more serious.

At this point, an elderly investigator spoke up: ”Captain Li, we’ve done a lot of work on this case, and the conclusion is clear, it’s a suicide.”

After someone spoke up, others began to speak too.

”The class teacher says she was withdrawn and unwilling to communicate with others.”

”Classmates reported she once had suicidal thoughts.”

”High school workload is heavy, living alone without company, extreme thoughts are understandable.”

”The principal says the school has a good atmosphere, without any fighting incidents.”

”The deceased had no signs of assault or fighting, no traces of fighting.”

”We cannot deny our conclusion just because the family doesn’t accept it.”

...

Suddenly, the whole conference room became noisy.

As a newcomer, Jiang An sat in the corner near the door.

He glanced up and noticed many attendees had deep bags under their eyes, probably from working overtime on this case.

Therefore, everyone seemed very emotional at this moment.

Captain Li Jian waved his hand, signaling everyone to quiet down.

He said: ”I know everyone has been staying up late for this case for a week, but the problem is still unresolved.”

”With such strong emotions from the family, we must find more evidence to support our viewpoint and persuade the family.”

”This morning, let’s revisit the hanging case of this female student, analyzing from the aspects of the original death scene, body examination, and investigative interviews.”

”Strive to discover more evidence! To bring this case to a satisfactory conclusion.”

Immediately, Wan from the criminal investigation team opened the projector.

In the next second.

The white screen displayed the image of the female deceased hanging from the willow tree branches, her body dangling.

Upon seeing the photos, Jiang An’s mind flashed with all professional knowledge and images concerning human hanging deaths.

Suddenly, he noticed the hanging posture of the deceased was very unusual!
