The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: His Analysis Shakes the Room!

At 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the criminal investigation team meeting room was packed.

Everyone was familiar with the case of Li Yan’s death.

That night, because of the case, they missed out on a delicious lamb dinner.

Seeing everyone present, Captain Li Jian said, ”Please quiet down, we’re starting the meeting.”

”Today’s meeting topic, I believe everyone already knows.”

”Regarding the murder case of Li Yan, the preliminary investigation work has come to an end. We are now discussing and analyzing the contents of the investigation to portray the characteristics of the murderer and provide a direction for the next step in finding the murderer.”

After a brief pause, Li Jian said, ”This case has also had many ups and downs.”

”Fortunately, Jiang An, the forensic doctor, discovered important clues at a critical moment, which changed the nature of the case.”

”Undoubtedly, the murderer in this case has strong counter-investigation abilities. Please feel free to express your opinions.”

As soon as he finished speaking, many people lowered their heads.

Just like in school days when the teacher asked questions in class, there was a tacit understanding.

Captain Li Jian said, ”Mr. Chen, as the leader, why don’t you set an example first.”

Mr. Chen smirked and said, ”Alright, Mr. Li, I’ll do that.”

”I’ll be the first to offer my opinion.”

”Initially, based on my understanding of Li Yan, she was fairly amiable during her school days. She didn’t have any conflicts with classmates and didn’t make enemies with anyone.”

”The only thing that might have caused resentment from others was the car accident five years ago.”

”Li Yan was hit by a private car five years ago, resulting in skull fractures and brain tissue damage, with epilepsy remaining after discharge.”

”At that time, the perpetrator was drunk driving, and the insurance company refused to compensate, so all medical expenses and compensation were self-paid.”

”Crucially, the perpetrator went to jail for drunk driving and lost their originally decent job.”

”I believe any case must have a motive.”

”In this world, there’s no love without reason, nor is there hatred without reason.”

Finally, Chen He said, ”I think the driver of that accident has a sufficient motive and should definitely be listed as the primary suspect.”

Captain Li Jian nodded gently after listening.

”The driver from that year will be listed as a key suspect.”

Then, he asked, ”Forensic Doctor Wu, what do you think?”

Wu You said, ”I’ll say a few words from a forensic perspective.”

”From the first death scene, the death process of this girl was very calm, with no signs of any struggle or violence.”

”Even during the poisoning process, she remained very calm.”

”This indicates the murderer had strong controlling power. I deduce the murderer is likely a male.

”In my view, the only reason a man and woman would share a tent would be due to a romantic relationship.”

”Therefore, I believe the murderer may very well be the deceased Li Yan’s boyfriend.”

Captain Li Jian said, ”Makes sense!”

Then Li Jian said, ”Jiang An, you turned the nature of the case at a critical moment, you must have many thoughts.”

Being personally named by the captain, Jiang An quickly stood up.

He said solemnly, ”Mr. Li, elders, I want to share insights from four aspects.”

In consecutive cases, Jiang An managed to avert disaster at critical moments, making many in the investigation team see him differently.

At this moment, some already turned to look toward Jiang An.

”Firstly, there was a drinking behavior during the date between the murderer and the deceased.”

”From the deceased’s facial and eyelash appearance, there was clear evidence of makeup before death.”

”As the saying goes, ’a gentleman sacrifices himself for the one who understands him, a woman dresses up for the one who pleases her’. I believe there was definitely an affectionate sentiment between the deceased and the murderer.”

”Alcohol was detected in the deceased’s blood, indicating drinking behavior before death.”

”The deceased wore a white T-shirt on the upper body, but there were no traces of alcohol stains, which means the drinking was voluntary, not forced.”

”We extracted the deceased’s blood for testing 48 hours after death, and the ethanol concentration was 53mg/100mL.”

”Based on the decomposition and metabolism patterns of alcohol in the body, I estimate the alcohol concentration in the deceased’s blood was double before death.”

”Under the influence of high alcohol concentration, the deceased rested in a camping tent, providing the murderer an opportunity to commit the crime.”

”Therefore, I deduce there was a dating behavior involving drinking before the deceased’s death.”

Instantly, all participants focused their attention on Jiang An.

Some young members of the criminal investigation team quietly picked up their pens and started taking notes.

Following.

Jiang An continued, ”Secondly, the murderer had a guilty conscience during the crime.”

”After committing the murder, the murderer spread the deceased’s long hair over both shoulders, meticulously tidy, and arranged her clothes properly to make her departure more dignified.”

”At the same time, during the autopsy, I found undigested broad bean particles in the deceased’s stomach, but no broad bean snacks were found in the large pack of snacks in the tent.”

”I deduce that the snacks eaten while drinking were taken away by the murderer, as the packaging had the murderer’s fingerprints.”

”The large pack of snacks in the tent was all unopened. I deduce it was purchased and placed later, not excluding the possibility of the murderer returning to the scene.”

”Therefore, analyzing the murderer’s actions of tidying the deceased’s appearance, clothes, and placing snacks suggest a guilt-compensatory psychological attitude towards Li Yan’s death.”

After stating the second point, many moved their chairs in the conference room to listen more attentively.

Jiang An continued, ”Thirdly, the murderer has a medical background and is familiar with the deceased’s condition.”

”Determining the nature of the death in this case was very convoluted, we almost classified it as an accidental death caused by epilepsy.”

”The poison used by the murderer could also cause similar symptoms to epilepsy, like muscle spasms and contractions.”

”Together with the very rare method of poisoning, it severely misled our initial judgment.”

”However, I want to say that using this method requires a prerequisite of having medical background knowledge and being very knowledgeable about the deceased’s epilepsy condition.”

”Fourthly, the murderer may have psychological disorders like paranoia, compulsion, or cleanliness.”

”At the first death scene, Li Yan lay in the tent with her clothes stretched smoothly, even the back of the T-shirt was neatly straightened.”

”Moreover, when observing the tent’s appearance, I found the edge of the tent was very clean, forming a stark contrast with the surroundings.”

”Also, the tent canvas was stretched tightly with no signs of creases.”

”The flashlight and snacks near the deceased were placed in a straight line that was almost parallel to Li Yan’s torso.”

”Crucially, the large pack of snacks was arranged very neatly.”

”Therefore, I believe the murderer is highly likely to be someone with a paranoid personality, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a cleanliness obsession.”

Finally, Jiang An stated seriously, ”I have outlined the murderer’s characteristics as follows.”

”The murderer should be a male with short black hair, a paranoid, compulsive, cleanliness psychology, with a background in medical knowledge, familiar with Li Yan’s illness, and in a relationship of admiration with Li Yan.”

”Mr. Li, these are my insights on the case. Please feel free to criticize any shortcomings.”

Instantly, the meeting room erupted in thunderous applause.

Everyone cast approving glances at Jiang An.
