The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Conclusion Is Reasonable, but Needs Objective Evidence

As soon as the words were spoken, everyone’s gaze was fixed on the female corpse.

Her rigid limbs stretched out straight.

Wu You, who had been a forensic doctor for many years, knew there weren’t many poisons that caused muscle spasms and contraction after poisoning.

However, Jiang An’s analysis of rigor mortis and spasms indeed made him take notice.

Knowing a corpse phenomenon is not important.

The key is understanding the principles behind this phenomenon, especially the gradual process.

At this moment, Li Jian asked, ”What is this toxin then?”

Jiang An replied, ”I believe it’s tetramine, a toxin that is easy to obtain and highly toxic.”

After hearing this, Li Jian nodded.

This toxin is commonly known as ”rat poison,” often sold on the streets, indeed easy to acquire.

Another person from the criminal investigation team asked, ”Since it’s poisoning, is it possible that she ingested the poison herself and died?”

”After all, if she ingested the poison herself, it’s a suicide.”

Jiang An nodded and said, ”I am not inclined to believe it was self-poisoning suicide.”

”Oh?”

”Do you have any reasons?”

Jiang An said, ”First of all, we didn’t find any bottles inside this tent.”

”In poisoning suicide cases I know of, the poison bottle is mostly found nearby or not far from the person.”

”But! There is no such container found around this corpse.”

Wu You nodded, supplementing, ”I agree with this viewpoint very much.”

”Although Jiang An just joined the force and may not have much practical experience.”

”With nearly 30 years of experience as a forensic doctor, I’ve seen many poisoning suicide cases, where the medicine bottle is by their side, and liquid traces can be seen around the mouth and nose.”

”However, this deceased didn’t show the usual signs of poisoning suicide.”

Upon hearing Wu You’s personal case experiences, the doubts of the officers earlier were completely dispelled.

Then, Jiang An continued, ”Now, I will analyze the third aspect of the basis.”

”The third aspect is the state of the scene.”

State of the scene?

Upon hearing this term, many people were unfamiliar with it.

Even Wu You and Li Jian, both of whom had been at the forefront of criminal investigations for years, were hearing it for the first time.

Li Jian said, ”Explain in detail?”

Jiang An said, ”The state of the scene is the distribution of all items at the scene, including the corpse and all items around the corpse.”

What started as just a preliminary case discussion had now become a forensic science lecture.

Driven by curiosity and the desire to solve the case.

Everyone’s gaze was on Jiang An.

Jiang An turned and pointed inside the tent.

He said, ”In this tent, which is less than 2 square meters, there is a body, a flashlight, snacks, and the victim’s shoes.”

”But please observe how the body is positioned.”

”The female victim is lying flat on the plastic mat, her legs stretched straight, her arms also stretched straight, resting on both sides of the body.”

”Doesn’t this pose of the body look too standard?”

”Especially the long hair of the deceased, parted at the shoulders on both sides.”

”The distribution, shape, and quantity of hair on both sides are almost identical.”

”Would someone’s long hair be so evenly distributed when sleeping normally?”

”It’s not impossible, but the probability of this shape forming is too small, almost less than winning the lottery five times in a row.”

”Moreover, the deceased’s clothes show no signs of wrinkling, both pants and T-shirt were very smooth.”

”Especially when I turned over the victim’s back, I saw that the T-shirt on the back was also very flat.”

”The deceased’s white sneakers were neatly placed at her feet, I looked at them closely just now.”

”Both the heels and toes of these shoes were aligned, showing that they were carefully arranged and placed.”

As Jiang An narrated, everyone’s thoughts seemed to be led by his words.

Zhang Yean looked down at the pair of white sneakers.

”I must say, they do look very tidy this way.”

Then, Jiang An raised his hand and pointed at the black flashlight by the deceased’s left side.

”The placement of this flashlight is also parallel to the body, not randomly placed.”

”Especially that pack of snacks, which makes the most convincing case.”

”The distribution of this pack of snacks is very clear, despite the varying sizes of the outer packaging, but I think this is already the most orderly combination structure.”

”The deceased’s personal belongings were not found, neither a cellphone nor an identification card, which are very unusual features.”

”The reason why the certification on the flashlight was torn, I personally think, is because the certification mark contained production information.”

”All of this is to conceal the deceased’s identity and delay the time of identification.”

After a slight pause, Jiang An said, ”To sum up, my conclusion is that this death scene must have been organized and arranged by someone else.”

”And the person who arranged this scene is likely to have cleanliness and compulsive disorder.”

”Therefore, I believe this is not a suicide death scene, nor is it an accidental death scene.”

”It is a murder scene, organized and arranged.”

In an instant, everyone around was silent.

Each person’s mind was contemplating this ”homicide” conclusion.

As the police chief responsible for this district, Yang Guang’s head was buzzing.

He had to admit that Jiang An’s analysis just now made some sense.

However!

This month, the police station is participating in the ”Safest Police Station” evaluation activity.

At this critical moment, suddenly a murder case emerges.

It’s expected to result in an immediate disqualification, completely ruling out their chance of becoming the ”Safest Police Station.”

Suddenly, Yang Guang broke the silence.

He said, ”Jiang An, my brother, this is all your personal analysis, very subjective.”

”We police officers have to deal with evidence, not subjective assumptions.”

”The story you tell is fascinating, but we are investigating a case.”

”Our district is primarily a college campus, with the permanent population mainly consisting of students, who are diligent in study and have simple relationships, there has not been a murder case in three years.”

”So, I suggest that Mr. Li should be cautious about this conclusion.”

After hearing this, Li Jian glanced at Jiang An.

His conclusion was very crucial in front of so many people.

Without concrete evidence to back it up, Li Jian typically wouldn’t draw a direct conclusion.

After all.

The deceased in front of us indeed shows no signs of sharp instruments, blunt objects, or binding that suggest homicide.

As for tetramine poisoning, there’s no definitive test conclusion.

After contemplating a bit, he said, ”Jiang An’s analysis earlier was excellent with ample basis.”

”But any conclusion must be cautious, we can’t arrive at conclusions blindly.”

”The investigation of this death case has just begun.”

”Next, there are body examinations, toxicology tests, identity investigations, contradiction sorting to be done.”

”If it’s indeed suicide or accidental sudden death, and we treat it as a murder case, we would never be able to catch the perpetrator.”

”If it turns out to be homicide, after finishing all this work, we will certainly discover more clues and locate the perpetrator more quickly.”
