The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: I Think I Know Why the Killer Committed Murder!

The applause continued for a long time before it gradually subsided.

Humility and talent coexist.

This is how everyone in the detective team describes Jiang An.

Through the earlier analysis, they recognized and appreciated Jiang An even more.

Li Jian, the team leader, smiled with satisfaction.

He said, ”I originally planned to spend a long time discussing.”

”I didn’t expect Jiang An to articulate so much at once.”

”And what he said was also very logical.”

”Don’t say it’s just a newcomer to the police force; even a veteran detective with 10 years of experience might not have such deep insights.”

”I have to say, he spoke very well.”

”His analysis of the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim from three dimensions - identity relations, individual characteristics, and psychological traits - was very comprehensive.”

”Thanks to Jiang An’s analysis, the perpetrator took shape in our minds with a three-dimensional representation.”

After a brief pause, Team Leader Li Jian asked, ”Does anyone here have any dissenting opinions?”

”Is there anything that needs to be supplemented or explained?”

”Next, we will use Jiang An’s speech as the basis and delve deeper from there.”

At this time, murmurs of quiet discussion began in the conference hall, but everyone nodded one after another.

After 5 minutes, there were still no additional comments.

Team Leader Li Jian raised his wrist and glanced at his watch.

He said, ”Since there are no supplemental opinions, I’ll say a few words briefly.”

Instantly, everyone straightened up, picked up their pens, and prepared to take notes.

”First, I feel that the remarks made by the three comrades earlier all have merit, especially Jiang An’s comprehensive analysis, which I completely agree with.”

”Second, regarding the motive for this crime, Mr. Chen mentioned a possibility just now.”

”However, I personally think the motive aligns more with a crime of passion.”

”In this case, whether it’s the peaceful and quiet set scene or the process with which the perpetrator committed the murder, it was very gentle, leaving no traces of violent action.”

”Even if there were injuries on the victim’s chest, back, and both sides of the upper limbs, they were very limited, not extensive impacts.”

”Third, the deceased was a female university student with a limited social circle, and the perpetrator is likely within the school or nearby.”

”Therefore, we need to dig deep into the deceased Li Yan’s romantic life, especially in boyfriend-girlfriend interactions, and focus on investigating friends with medical backgrounds to identify any suspicious individuals.”

Finally, Team Leader Li Jian said in a deep voice, ”Travel thousands of miles, detect the world’s crimes.”

”This has always been my creed since engaging in police work.”

”No matter how cunning criminals may be, they always have a flaw in their meticulous planning.”

”We must find this flaw in the complex puzzle, tear apart the criminal’s lies, and uncover the truth.”

”Comrades, do you have confidence!”

Everyone responded in unison, ”Yes!”

At the same time, Yang Guang led two officers to escort Liu Chuang to the door of the Jiangcheng detention center.

After completing the paperwork for the detention procedures, Yang Guang said, ”Go in and reform well, consider changing your path afterward.”

”In the past 10 years, I’ve caught you many times.”

Liu Chuang replied, ”Mr. Yang, next time I get out, I’ll wash my hands of it and never steal again, but that shoulder bag was really something I picked up.”

”Got it! Got it!”

Yang Guang impatiently waved his hand.

At the moment Liu Chuang walked into the detention center door, he turned back and said, ”The tent you took me to today, I remember seeing a man putting a package in it that night.”

”Hurry up and get in! They don’t have time for your nonsense!”

The on-duty officer at the detention center urged.

At this moment.

After the detective team’s meeting ended, everyone started to take action.

Following Team Leader Li Jian’s arrangement, they divided into three groups.

One group went to the School of Information Technology where Li Yan previously attended, to reinvestigate and see if they could uncover any suspicious individuals.

The second group went to Li Yan’s hometown to investigate the driver involved in the traffic accident and her romantic relationships during high school.

The third group focused on the crime scene evidence again, to see if they could find the perpetrator’s fingerprints or other biological materials.

After the meeting, Jiang An and Zhang Yean immediately headed to the trace and evidence examination laboratory.

Zhang Yean graduated from the police academy with a major in criminal technology, focusing on fingerprint, footprint, tool, and firearm trace identification.

This is her main battlefield at work.

Just as they entered the laboratory, Zhang Yean said, ”It’s your first time here, right? Let me show you around.”

Jiang An waved his hand and said, ”Senior sister, not now. Let’s first look at the condition of the evidence.”

Zhang Yean said, ”We already determined the target direction at the meeting earlier. Our evidence examination might not be very useful now, right?”

Jiang An said solemnly, ”That’s not necessarily true.”

”If the perpetrator argues and denies the murder, we need to use the evidence results to verify the criminal fact.”

Seeing the serious expression on Jiang An’s face, she said, ”Alright! But don’t worry too much.”

”We’ve already torn apart the perpetrator’s lies!”

Jiang An didn’t speak; he directly went to the evidence examination table.

He pulled a pair of gloves from the box beside him and put them on his hands.

This was done to isolate and prevent leaving his fingerprints on the evidence.

First, he picked up a black flashlight and observed it under a strong incandescent lamp.

After waiting a moment, he said, ”Senior sister, I didn’t see any fingerprints, could you please take another look?”

Zhang Yean took the flashlight and carefully examined it.

A moment later, she shook her head in disappointment.

”The exterior of the flashlight is very clean, with no fingerprints at all.”

Then, Jiang An took a kraft evidence bag and removed the gloves and small syringe found at the bottom of the cliff.

No fingerprints were seen on the syringe either.

However, a small amount of liquid remained in the needle tube.

”Senior sister, please bring me a small test tube.”

Zhang Yean turned and took a miniature test tube from a nearby drawer.

Jiang An moved the plunger of the syringe to push out a small amount of liquid.

”Is this poison?”

Zhang Yean asked, looking at the liquid in the test tube.

Jiang An nodded.

”Be sure to wash your hands before meals, this stuff is highly toxic.”

After collecting the remaining liquid from the syringe, Jiang An picked up the used latex gloves.

The letters ”LB” printed on the top of the gloves caught his attention.

In his memory, ”LB” is an abbreviation for LeBang. These types of gloves are commonly used by doctors in hospitals during surgeries.

Why would the perpetrator use them?

Just now, he inferred that the perpetrator had a medical background; maybe that’s not enough.

Could it be that the perpetrator is a doctor?

While Jiang An was contemplating, Zhang Yean picked up the shoulder bag.

She began checking all the pocket compartments one by one.

Suddenly, she exclaimed, ”In the innermost hidden pocket, there’s actually a packet of medicine.”

Jiang An turned around and asked, ”What medicine?”

”Yuting birth control pills.”

”Has it been opened?”

Zhang Yean replied, ”Not opened yet!”

Immediately, Jiang An suddenly thought of the anomaly inside Li Yan’s uterus.

A moment later, he said, ”I think I might have guessed why the perpetrator committed the murder!”
